Chapter 18, sick and meeting new friends

The next few days have been interesting since that beautiful/crazy night. They still talk about it and put a smile on both their faces.

“Hey, why don’t I take you to the most romantic spot in Barcelona again? We haven’t done that since we met.” 

“I’d love to, but you don’t look so good Alex maybe I should take you to your parents and make sure it’s not a wolf thing.” 

“I’m fine Christine I want to be with you, and I want to show you.” 

“Aww, Alex I’d love to as long as you’re alright.”

“I’m fine and if there’s something wrong then you can take me to my parents and my pack.” 

“Ok I’ll do that, but you said something about a tour?” 

“Yes, I did come on if I’m sick, I want to spend as much time with you as I can.” He took her to the same spots that he did when they first met. They stopped for lunch at a café and she knew something was wrong when he couldn’t hear, and he was turning pale fast.

“Ok, I’m not just gonna sit here and see you get worse by the second. I’m taking you to your parents right now.” 

“Thanks, and hurry it hurts.” 

“I’ll try my best Alex and how will the pack know?” 

“They’ll probably be already at my house when we get there. Leave some money and go.” She did as she was told and did the best, she could she’s not exactly strong, but she did well for someone twice her size.

“Mamá, Papá mucho problema (big problem!) please come quickly its Alex!” 

“What is it Christine…oh my, screams, Bernardo come quickly!” 

“Anita qué problema, oh that problem what’s wrong?” 

“I don’t know he just told me to take him here and that the pack would be here.” 

“They’re hunting, but now that Alex isn’t feeling well they’ll be here any minute.” 

“Ok that’s good, Alex is an experienced wolf, right?”

“No, he’s young…and by the way he looks he’s about to get his full powers.” 

“Young wolf he told my parents he was experienced! Bernardo, what do we do?” 

“Oh boy…he must care for you a lot since he hasn’t gotten his powers until today.”

“Bernardo watches him, and I’ll get Christine to safety since who knows how crazy he’ll get.” 

“Sí Anita.” He looks down worriedly at his son and watches his wife take his maybe daughter in law to safety. 

“Anita where’s Alex?” 

“Christine he’s with Bernardo and he’s in good hands.” 

“I know Anita, but I love Alex.” 

“I know sweetie…he’ll be alright.” 

“From a distance, Christine, Christine! Where is she?” 

“Alex? Can I go to him?” 

“Go to him Christine he needs you now more than ever. This is not an easy experience most werewolf families would tell everyone even loved ones to stay from him for a while.” 

“Thanks, Anita, she hugs her, I’m coming Alex!” She runs down the stairs to him and Bernardo and saw him on the couch with his dad and what she guessed was the pack.

“Christine you there? Where are you?” 

“I’m here Alex; I’m here…are you feeling better?” 

“A bit, but now that you’re here I’m much better.” 

“That’s good now I know how you felt when I was getting my powers this is awful and horrible! I hate seeing you like this.” 

“I know, but it’ll be alright and like your powers, it depends on the wolf. I’m not sure how long it’ll take.” 

“This sucks I want to be with you, but your parents say to stay away for my safety.” 

“Yeah, that’s the smart idea since I don’t wanna hurt you.”

“You wouldn’t hurt me, right?” 

“That’s what Riff’s girl, Carmen said, and she’s got a big scratch on her face and a little bit of her shoulder.” 

“Oh, that’s bad…but I may not heal fast, but the tears of a god/goddess are like a phoenix only not as strong." 

“You think it’ll help?” 

“I can try…oh Alex it sucks that I have to see you in pain.” 

“I know, but hopefully it won’t last long and I know I told your parents I was an experienced wolf, but the only reason I said that is I didn’t want to scare you or your parents.”

“Wait a minute my parents! He said if I was in trouble was to go to the brightest spot on the beach which is our private beach! Now I’m not sure if that applies to you but we can at least try. I mean they don’t call him the god of medicine for nothing! Come on Bernardo let's go to the beach now!” 

“Sí Christine vamos and quickly he’s looks like he’s getting worse by the second!” Christine and Bernardo hurried to the beach the best they could without hurting Alex.

“Ok according to my dad the brightest spot is on top of the cliff, but I know a shortcut!” Once they were on the cliffs Bernardo got a hold of his son and gently put him on the ground. 

“Dad please I’m begging you to help Alex. I know he told you he was an experienced wolf, but apparently, he only said that to protect me. Oh, dad please help him please I’m begging!” In an instant, he showed up to help his daughter. 

“Ssh it’s alright Christine I’m here. I’ll do the best I can to help Alex. You must really love him if you’re willing to hurt yourself for him.” 

“I’d do anything for him dad…I’d give up my new powers for him!”

“Aww Christine, he hugs her, it’ll be alright now let me work my magic. Stop your crying he will be alright.” She wiped away her tears and watched Apollo do his medicine magic on Alex. Meanwhile with Christine-she was in Bernardo’s comforting hands and trying not to cry. 

“Wait a minute Christine come here. You might be able to help him.” 

“How?! I’ll do anything!” 

“Start crying I forgot that your tears are powerful.” 

“You told me to stop now you want me to confuse but ok.” 

“To get you in the mood…pretend he’s dying-which he might be.”

“Tears fall, yeah that worked dad…” 

“Good and maybe singing to him might help.” 

“How dad?? Do you really think I can? Now isn’t the best moment!” 

“You know how every god/goddess is in charge of more than one thing?” 

“Yeah what about it you’re confusing me?” 

“Besides war and beauty, you’re also in charge of music like me…see you got a piece of us no matter where you go.”

“That does explain a few things what should I sing?” 

“Um I’m not familiar with mortal music so just pick your favorite song.” 

“Ok, I know just the song.” She had picked Amazed and of course, it was a little hard to sing when she was crying but she did what she was told. With Apollo’s medicine help, he and Christine were able to help with the pain. At least this will help with his transformation.

“Ok I think we did help him with the pain, but that’s as much as I can do, but to my knowledge as long as you keep crying, singing, or both (although both would help a lot) he’ll heal a lot faster.” 

“Thanks, dad, she hugs him, I love you, dad.” 

“Love you too Christine oh your mom wanted to me to give you this rose pendant to go with my ring (which has a little bit of our power).” 

“Aww it’s beautiful, she moves her hair, and will you put it on for me?” 

“I’d be happy to help you.” It was a sweet father/daughter moment which is rare for them since they’re so far apart all the time. 

“You look beautiful…just like your mother.” 

“Thanks, dad, she hugs him again, I’ll try to make you proud.” 

“You already do…now I gotta go otherwise your mom and Zeus will get mad.” 

“Ok say hi to them for me.” 

“I will love you, sweetie.” In an instant, he was gone as fast as he came. 

“I’m sorry about your dad.” 

“Why Bernardo? I got to spend time with him now.” 

“You don’t see him every day.” 

“Yeah I do-all I gotta do is look at the sun that always cheers me up and I know he’s watching over me.” 

“Well for now I’ll leave you with your dad’s orders and if you need me or Anita just howl, and we’ll come running by the call of our own kind.” 

“Thanks for the advice Bernardo and I’ll do my best.” 

“I know you will…now you get busy he’ll want to see you when he wakes up.”

“Yes, sir I’ll get on it… (Sung) baby when you touch me I can tell how much you love me…I’ve never been this close to anyone or anything I can hear your thoughts…I can see your dreams…I’m so in love with you…tears start  to fall…” For a moment she would just cry or just sing she’d try to do both but it’s hard to do without hurting your throat. For a while she was tempted to sing ‘Kiss the Girl’ but it usually helps if he’s awake so she’d sing-song that she could think of…which was a wide variety of genres. From Disney to Broadway to oldies…Bernardo thought it was strange for a 19yr old would have this kind of taste (he has very good hearing). The song she sang the most was ‘Amazed’ and ‘Time After Time’ and she meant every word of those songs. 

“Sung, baby when you touch me I can tell how much you love me…I’ve never been this close to anyone or anything I can hear your thoughts…I can see your dreams…I’m so in love with you…tears start to fall…” After crying and singing for two hours he finally woke up again.

“Groan, Christine, oh my rose you saved me!” 

“I did the best I could, and I did it for you, my prince.” 

“Well I owe you big time and you princess shall never be harmed.”

 “I hope not at least but there’s something I want to sing to you.” 

“Oh, what song is it?” 

“If you’ll let me get to it, I’ll sing it!” 

“I’m sorry-go ahead.” She did get to sing ‘Kiss the Girl’ to him course she didn’t finish the last few lines because he did kiss his girl.

“That was lovely and sassy! I love it when you’re sassy…there’s something I want to tell you.” 

“Thanks for the compliment, but what is it you want to tell me?” 

“Deep breath, I love you, Christine.” 

“Oh, Alex…I love you, Alex.” She started to sing ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’. 

“My mortal parents got engaged to that song, so it has some sentimental value to me.” 

“It’s sweet and the two months we’ve been together have been the best.” 

“Me too and to make sure that your parents aren’t worried we should take you to them and your pack.” 

“Your right I don’t want to worry them.” So, they stumbled back to his place. There were moments when he fell, but Christine was there to catch him.

“We’re back and he’s alright…sort of.” 

“Thank goodness you’re alright we were getting worried!” 

“It’s alright mamá Christine and Apollo (mostly Christine) saved me.” 

“Then we are in debt to you if there’s anything we can do you name it.” 

“Thanks, Anita I’ll keep that in mind…so this is your other family?” 

“Yes, this is my new family. Our alpha Riff and his girl Carmen, 2nd command Fernando, the only girl Marie, then its Joaquin, Pepe, Estaban, and Chino The twist is Marie and Joaquin are the only wolf siblings in the pack. She had got her powers first then Joaquin did. It depends on the wolf, but that’s another lecture.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet all of you.” 

“Same to you we all came to see the girl who helped our newest member. Also, who Bernardo and Anita were bragging about you while we're gone it was kind of interesting to see their eyes go bug-eyed when they talked about you.” 

“Bragging!? I’m flattered.” 

“I wouldn’t say bragging Riff.” 

“Ok talking a lot while you were at the beach, but I do know Alex thinks highly of you Christine.”

“Riff, evil glare, oh great now I’m blushing.” 

“Sorry…so are you two getting serious?” 

“Uh-haven’t really discussed that we’ve only been together for two months.” 

“Oh, wow it is serious and you didn’t tell us why Alex?” 

“Because you’d tease me as the others do with you and Carmen that’s why!” 

“That’s a good reason well we had to hear from your parents and your girlfriend about the two of you.” 

“Enough of this come on are we going to celebrate now?” 

“Yeah, we’re going to paint the town, and were going to rock this city tonight!” Like most of Europe, Barcelona is known for its nightlife. Most of the pack left at around midnight since they got tired, but Riff, Carmen, and Alex, Christine stayed for a little bit longer. Just so he could ask his questions if he had any. He had some so they just talked until around one or two in the morning. Once all the questions were answered Alex and Christine went back to their beach. Only this time their spot had some new things like a blanket for them to sleep on and some pillows (which Christine won’t use since she sleeps on Alex.)

Both figured it was from the pack as a welcome gift. They really had no idea who it was from but were happy they didn’t have to sleep on sand anymore. Sometime during the night, Christine had a very bad feeling she figured it was her goddess intuition. She didn’t want to wake Alex up, so she silently prayed to her parents that something fishy was going on.
