The next day I took my time getting ready, mindful of the aches from my wrist. The brace was still on and it was starting to itch. It looked warm and sunny out so I carefully pulled on a white skirt that ended halfway up my thighs and a thin, long sleeve shirt. It was black and helped the outfit seem more decent and reserved.                     I hadn't showered the night before, afraid to leave my room, so I pulled it up into a ponytail. My face was free of makeup until I covered my under eye circles with concealer, swiped on blush to hide my pale skin and mascara to liven up my eyes.                    I grabbed my backpack on the way out and saw Harry sitting at the dining table, a bowl of cereal in front of him. "You don't need to wear a skirt to impress the boys Maddie."               

I didn't  know what Ace and I were. I was still playing his fake girlfriend but now that I knew we both had some sort of "feelings" for each other, I didn't know where we stood. We hadn't kissed since the first time three days ago and neither of us had brought it up since our talk.                       It was now Friday, aka two days before most of Ace's family went back home. I woke up the next morning with my head on a body instead of a pillow. I was on my side, my head resting on Ace's shoulder. He was nuzzled into the juncture of my neck where it met my shoulder. I could feel his breath, soft and warm against my skin.                          I pulled away a little, only so I could see what Ace looked like when he slept. The last time we had slept in the same bed together was the first time Ace had witnessed Harry's anger. And the next morning, he had woken me up; I never got to see him asleep.                          But now, I was able to openly watch as he took involuntary breaths, as his eyelids fluttered softly. I stayed the night at Ace's house for the next week, but now, in separate rooms. Anna only had one rule for us while I stayed there and it was, "no sleeping in the same bed as your girlfriend Ace James Craige." He had nodded, a little scared and I agreed to it quickly, not wanting to upset her.                    A week after the final family barbeque, I woke up to someone nudging my arm repeatedly. I let it go on for awhile, not wanting to wake up. But eventually, the incessant poking got to be too much for me.
