Chapter 11 : Crisis in Ayanfe.

Everything and everywhere was shaking, books falling, bags falling, it made people staggered in the school while some, when about to fall went to a wall for support. Everybody in the school and the whole city of Ayanfe, was terrified. Chioma cried out while she gained her momentum.

"Everyone, quick to the assembly point." She pointed to the exit. "Move! Move! Move. Don't take anything just move" After directing all the pupils to the exit door. She took a glimpse of the class, seeing no one is left. She followed the pupils to the assembly point. Few seconds later, at the assembly point. Most of the pupils were murmuring.

 "It's an earthquake." 

"No! It as never happened in our country."

 "Hope mummy and daddy is alright?" 

"Where is Samuel?"

 "Aliens among us."

 "The sun is really hot today." One after the other each teachers came with their pupils. While the security guards directing the pupils to the assembly point. Everyone was frightened.

 "Where is Mr. James?" Aliu asked. 

"At his office." Lola answered. Mr. James walked towards them.

 “Please calm down," he said. "Mrs. Helen please calm the little ones who are crying." Mr. James went to the center. While Chioma was trying to calm Chidi and Diamond with other little pupils among them. Everyone eyes was on Mr. James waiting for an answer from this sudden earth quake.

"Calm down everybody. What we experienced just now, was from a natural gas explosion outside the city. In fact there are multiple explosions from all over the world. It seems the cause was from the hotness of the sun." He looked at the one of the  security guard. "Please go to every class and restroom in the school to check for those remaining." The  security guard nodded then he signaled his fellow guards to follow him. 

A pupil whispered to one of his mate.

 "How did Mr. James know?" 

"Know what?"

 "Knew it was an explosion." 

"Why not? Isn't he the principal, he have to know all this. See!"  Pointing to the other side of the school. "The smokes are everywhere." 

"Now please let wait here for a while until everything dry down." Said Mr James looking a bit worried. "We need to start calling parent from home who are near the explosion." He thought.

Some minutes after the explosion. Somey hospital was under an apprehensive state. Doctors, Nurses, Janitors, including every one in the hospital where in shock. The nurses were bringing in victims to the hospital from the site where the explosion happened. Ambulance are coming one after the other bringing in more victims.

 "It was an explosion!!" Cried one of the patient seeing what was going on in the hospital. 

"Excuse us! Excuse us!" Sophia said with some nurses, pushing one of the victims on a stretcher to the operating room.

 "How many are working in the building before the explosion?" Sarutobi asked while wearing her surgical tech and support in her office. 

".....Over a thousand, ma. Including those who are walking near by." Sophia tautly said. 

"Let's go." They went to the operating room with two doctors and four nurses. 

After, Joshua was looking frightened. Then he saw Mariam walking quickly to the waiting room. Then he went to her.

 "What can I do to help?" He said. 

"No you don't need to, please don't stress your self." She answered. Joshua looked at the victims with minor injuries in the waiting room groaning.

 "But no one is attending to them. You are really busy. Please I can help." She saw that she really needed a hand then she nodded. "Okay follow me." She pointed to a young boy who had been bleeding from his head. "Gently carry him, he was hit by a falling debris from the explosion."  Then Joshua carried him. "Where to?" Mariam waved her hand. "Follow me." After, he placed the boy on a bed in the ward. "There you go," Joshua looked at the boy with a smile. Immediately Mariam brought out a first aid kit from a shelf to treat the young boy. 

"Where are your parents?" Joshua asked. He pointed at the window where the smoke was coming from. "No. His parents are might still be there." He thought, then he looked at the boy. "Don't worry they will be safe." Joshua stood up and moved to the exit.

 "Where are you going." Mariam asked.

 "To check on the remaining patients, I watched the news earlier. It affected the whole world, each power plants got exploded in a whole day," Joshua said with a thick voice. "Am bringing more." Then he went to the waiting room to pick up an old lady who had some bruises on her arm. "Slowly ma." Then the next person. One after the other he brought them to Mariam for treatment.

At the operating room. Sarutobi was already performing a surgery on a patient. A nurse called her using via Bluetooth. 

“Ma!" 

"Go on."

 "We are waiting for your directions for the treatment over here." 

"Okay. First give those patient that have problem in breathing, phenicol and cardio tonic.....Then do a cross match for each patient's blood type......Prepare any patients who majorly need surgery to the operating room then some HBO." 

"Yes ma!"

 "Okay." Then, she continued with her surgery. 

Joshua after helping out Mariam with the treatment on the patients, he went to the waiting room to take a sit and catch is breath, a middle-aged man barged in and said with a wobbly tone. "My son......My son........I heard......They have....They have recorded five....five.... thousand people dead and more to come!!!" Joshua was shocked then he stood up went to the man and held his shoulder.

 "You.....are..... kidding.....right?" Joshua said with a trembling voice. The man looked at Joshua then he pushed him away. 

"Where are the Doctors?"

 "They are busy in the operating room. Any problem?" Mariam said coming from the ward in front of the waiting room.

 "I heard it from the fire fighters when they are discussing, at the site!!" He cried. 

"Calm down. Is any of your relatives among the patient here?" After hearing that he immediately knelt down with tears rolling down from his eyes. "My son.....My son he was among those that were recorded!!!" Mariam shook her head while Joshua went to the man to console him. They both felt sorry for him. 

"Sorry. Am really sorry for your loss." Then Joshua guided him to a sit. "Please seat down." He looked at Joshua. "Sorry for pushing you earlier." Then he lowered his head he noticed some different about Joshua and he looked at him again from his head to his toe.

"Wait! Aren’t you a patient also?" The man 

 Joshua scratched his head with a big grin. "Actually am....." Suddenly four nurses came into the hospital pushing another patient on a stretcher with a woman also pushing while crying.

 "Please honey. Don't...... Don't leave me!!" One of the nurses said to Mariam. 

"Any doctor available?" 

“No they are in the operating room. Let's take him there." Mariam said while directing them to the operating room. 

The waiting room was silent for a while then the man said with tears. "My son. He is my only son. He came to this city to work in the company as an IT student. He wanted to continue his dream here in the city, to be the best....to....to....am I dreaming? please can somebody wake me up from this nightmare." The man slapped himself on his cheek thrice about slapping himself for the fourth time. Joshua rushes to him and held his hand. 

"Am really sorry, you are going through all this." Then Joshua embraced him.

A few hours later. Around after eight, in the building far from the city. The A.O.P and the representative of each department were seated on a round table.

 "Let have a minute for the souls that had left us this afternoon." The room was silent for a minute. Then a man spoke from the A.O.P. "We are all overwhelmed from the incident this afternoon, and we are truly sorry for the relations that the victims left behind." 

Then a woman also from the A.O.P said. "Each President has already addressed their country on their great loss. So the reason for today's meeting is why we are here. Mr Felix please can you shed more light on the information you gave us." Felix looked at them closely and said. "We have finally noticed what is causing the strange signals and the reasons why it will occur for days, but what we are trying to figure out is. What can it do to our body or to life on earth? What will be the symptoms? We haven't actually seen what it can do to humans but it seems dangerous, it is really hard for us to bring together what makes it dangerous, we also noticed it is not even at risk to the human skin."

"So we are back to square one?" Said the person representing the Military Agencies whose name is Agent Ola. 

"Things are not going as we expected." Also said the person representing the United Nations Dr. Russell. Mr Felix said with an encouraging tone. 

"But we have someone that can help us with this. Come in. Sir." Felix said, then Chris came in.

 "What Are you doing here? this is a classified meeting." Russell said.

 "Who brought you here?" Asked Ola. 

"I brought him here. He is with me," Felix said while raising his finger. 

"Please Pastor Chris tell them what you told me." Then Chris said to them. "In my vision I saw people running away from people with scars and marks on their body. This affect the whole world."

 "How is it possible?" Said a man from the A.O.P.

 "We need to keep on praying. So that it may pass us by." Chris replied him. 

"What are you saying that we can't even understand?" Ola said. Chris knelt down and his face buried to the ground appealing to them.

 "That's all what I know. We need to act fast. It will happen when we less expected it. Please hear me." They all looked at Felix.

 Russell said. "Why did you bring him here. He is not making any sense at all.” 

Felix said. "I don't believe it either but am starting to because right now we the Scientist are totally lost." "Then you guys have to research more." Said Ola. A woman from the A.O.P said. "I’m a believer, but I don't think it will happen like that, he love us.”

 Chris said while he raised his head. "We are all made for a purpose. Some for sacrifice while some for glory." The word from Chris touched them and they were mute for a while.

 Then Ola said. "Do you expect us to tell the whole world concerning what you just said.....huh?" Chris stood up. 

"Definitely," he said "if you can't then I will." Felix looked at them then looked at Chris and said in a orotund tone. "I will help you with it. Pastor Chris." Everyone in the room including Chris was shocked after hearing that.

"That's..... that's great news. I think I will join you guys!" Ola boomingly said. Everyone was also shocked to hear that. "……You must be joking....how can I join you guys. Who can be against the world? No one!!" Ola said laughing hard. A woman from the A.O.P said. "Don't joke like that Agent Ola. You almost threw us off." She continued looking at Chris. "Sorry for his behavior. We will think about what you told us. If what you told us is true then what can we do to be safe." Chris smiled. "If you want the world of humans not to attack each other then we should be indoor for the whole week. This may prevent my vision from happening, right?" he stopped and wondered. "But the explosion, what does it mean?" Chris said. "The sun felt kind of weird this afternoon." Felix added. Russell looked at Chris. 

"Then we should be more cautious then," He said. "But it's sound crazy. It will happen on Monday right? Mr Felix?" 

"Yeah but actually. The weather is amazingly cold this night."

 "Hmmmmm......." Ola said. 

At the hospital. Around 9. Joshua was lying on his bed. "The sun was very hot today," he thought then he looked through the window. "Then why is it so cold this night and it's not even cloudy yet?" Then Someone knocked. He stood up and said.

 "Who is there? Come in." Sophia slightly opened the opened the door.

 "Okay. Just wanted to check on you" She moved aside from the opened door and sighed as she removed her cap from her head letting her curly hair to drop down gracefully. 

"Today was stressful and a little bit weird. We lost over a million lives today all over the world......... It's all over the news, this afternoon was really hot even the hottest day recorded in history and also this night. Is so cold." Joshua went closer to her. "Today the world was shaken from the explosions earlier. I thank you doctors and nurses for saving lives." Sophia looked down then she held her shoulders with her hands like someone with a cold. "I know this may sound awkward, but…..” she said while twirling her curly hair. “Can I hug you?" She sniveled.  Joshua examined her for a moment, she looked at Joshua with a sad eyes. Then he said. "Sure. I could just need a hug.” Immediately Sophia rushes to his arms and buried her self in his chest as she wailed. "Thanks." Suddenly some one entered. Joshua looked at the direction of the door then his eyes widened.
