CHAPTER 1 | CHARLOTTE

I’m inside the room right now while listening to the professor in front of us. I have no idea why but, she’s already discussing the lesson since a while ago but, no one is listening to her.

The whole class is very noisy and that’s why I’m curious why she’s not even telling them to be quiet to listen to her lessons.

“Did you understand?” I nodded at her and the others didn’t even bother to answer her nor they didn’t even look at her. Our professor just took a deep sighed and grabbed her index cards.

Bingo. There’s a recitation today. I crack my bones on my fingers because I’m prepared to her recitation. I’m going to pass on her subject.

“Let’s have a graded recitation, everyone.” Everyone became quiet when she announced that. I noticed that all of my classmates are already nervous and sweating because of the announcement.

“One question with a correct answer will be equivalent to 100. So, for the students who has a failing grades on their quizzes, you can make it up with this recitation because recitation has a higher percentage than quizzes.” The professor explains.

“If you gave me the wrong answer, your grade will be equivalent to 0. So, the grades will be either 0 or 100 only. So, I wish that you listen to my discussion a while ago.” She added.

I am really ready right now. I’m glad that I listen to her discussion a while ago because I really want to make up to my grade. I’m too close in failing to her subject so, I really need to do everything just to pass this.

And another thing, I’m also a scholar here in the university so, I really need to make up to my grades for me not be kicked out on being a scholar.

“Let’s start with Ms. Kristina.” The professor called the first student and we already begin with our recitation.

The recitation is already finish and from the whole class, I am the only one who got a correct answer from her questions. I’m the only one who listened to her discussion and no one else. So, she also gave me another plus points for that.

All of my classmates are only talking with each other and the others are only using their phones and that’s the reason why they can’t answer the questions of our professor.

I stand up and fix my things and put them inside my bag. Next meeting there will be another quiz so, I really need to review it by tomorrow.

“Bitch, what are you laughing at a while ago when I didn’t manage to answer the question of our professor?” Someone hold my arm and make me turn to face her. I saw Kristina and her friends.

“Huh?” I asked her.

“Don’t play dumb with me. Why are you laughing at me a while ago?” She asked me again while raising her eye brows.

“For your information, I’m not laughing at you – but to your answer.” I answered her then, cross my arms in front of my chest. I saw her smirk.

“Is that really how you behave when I snatch something from you?” She asked me in disbelief. What is she talking about now?

“And what did you snatch away from me?” I asked her, bored.

“The guys in school. All of them wants to have sex with me and not you.” I laugh loudly at her. How pity, I really pity her now.

“To be honest? I don’t care if you already had sex with most of the male students here in this university.”

“I don’t give a fuck if you’re already a slut here in the university, Kristina.” I mimic the way she talks to me. I spin around her slowly and I hold her hair while caressing it gently.

“And, I don’t give a fuck if you can have all of the boys here. Because I don’t need a man. I can live my life without clinging on a man. I’m not weak like you, Kristina.” I whispered.

I grab my bag after saying those words at her then, I walk out of the room when I remembered something and look back at her.

“And by the way, there is a sex scandal that is circulating on the internet. I think you should check that out, slut.” I continue walking out of the room after saying those words.

~ IN THE SOCCER FIELD ~

I’m sitting on a bench on located on the soccer field because I’m always having some fresh air in here after class. There are no crowds in here that’s why I’m always here to be alone for a while.

There’s no schedule for the soccer team to be here so, there’s no practice right now. I closed my eyes and feel the cold and fresh wind.

I feel so at ease when I’m alone and it feels like, I don’t have any problems even though I have.

I really love being alone because when I am with my friends, I don’t have my own privacy to think about the things that I want to think.

That’s why, I’m enjoying these times when I am alone because I can be myself again.

“Char!” I look at the direction of the voice who called me. I saw my friend – Sabby who’s running towards my direction. She sat down beside me and grab s her phone.

“Did you already saw Kristina’s scandal? My god. The guy who had sex with her just uploaded it because she’s not that good in bed.” She told me.

“I’m not interested with those kinds of things, Sabby. Don’t talk to me about that.” I answered her while staring at the distance and sighed.

“Is there a problem, Char?” She asked me worriedly and I shake my head sideways.

“I’m only trying to remember all of the memories that was once mine that I’ve lost. The memories that I forgot because of a car accident, three years ago.” I answered. I held my forehead and closed my eyes.

“I am dreaming about a guy that is very familiar for me but, I don’t remember who he is.” I added at her.

“I remember his face that’s why I want to meet him again or to remember him, for me to ask him about the real me. About me before the accident.” I said while looking at my hands.

“It feels like I don’t know myself anymore because I don’t even remember who am I before losing my memories.”

“Why don’t you ask the family who adopted you?” She asks and I shake my head as an answer.

“They’re not answering my questions. They are also hurting me always when I asked them about that.” I answered.

“The question is, where can you see or where are you going to start to look for that guy within your dreams?” I shake my head. I also didn’t know how to find him though.

“I have no idea. That’s why I’m always asking for help to CD and the others.” I answered her. I took a deep breath.

“Char! Sabby!” We both look at the direction of the voice and we saw Deon, Denzel, and CD.

“Char, you’re being called right now to the office of our department.” Denzel informed me.

“What do they want from me?” I asked curiously.

“Kristina’s parents are blaming you about the circulation of the video scandal.” I stand up and grab my bag.

“We’re going with you, Char.” I nodded and we walk towards the office of our department.

~ IN THE OFFICE ~

Kristina’s parents are already in front of me and also Kristine, herself. Our adviser is also here with us and also the dean and guidance counselor.

I’m leaning towards the wall while crossing my arms in front of my chest while staring at them. Sabby and the others are outside waiting for me and they are also eavesdropping with our conversation.

“Is it true that you’re the one who uploaded Kristina’s scandal, Ms. Walker?” The dean asked me.

“How can I upload the video? I’m not even in the scene of the crime though.” I answered him.

“If you’re not the one who uploaded it, then why do you know about it?” Kristina’s mother asked me angrily.

“Of course, I saw the video even though I don’t want to see it. My virgin eyes, my god.” I said why wiping my eyes.

“And if that’s your basis, why I am the only one that did you called? All of the students are talking about that video too.” I asked with a smirk.

“You disrespectful, child!” The guidance counselor commented.

“And you’re being respectful?” I asked her sarcastically.

“Who are the ones again that are corrupting the students’ money just for them to pass the subjects that they already passed? Who are the ones who’re using their positions just to belittle the students?” I asked them.

“Ms. Walker, get out of the office now!” I smirked at them when they already told me to go out. I went out of the office and when I opened the door, I saw CD and the others there.

“Let’s go.” I told them and we walk away from that place.
