18. Rifts

After the news Ward had brought home Ki had pack business to deal with which left me with no one to help train me, But that didn't stop me from trying to train myself. 

That's why I sat in the yard staring at a rock. It's stupid I know but when ever you read books about telekinesis they always start with some form of training where you move rocks with your mind so I figured why not. So here I sat staring at a rock that refused to move.

"What are you doing?"

I spun around to find Zeld standing behind me the twins on either side of him.

"Hey Zeld they let you come out did they?"

I eyed the twins knowing that there's no way they would have let him out without checking with Ki first. Both of them avoided my eyes.

"I didn't exactly give them much choice,"

I developed a stern look but there was humour in it.

"Did you start singing the Harry the eighth song again?"

Zeld laughed.

"You know me too well."

Zeld sat down beside me.

"I couldn't resist when I noticed you were out here."

He eyed the rock I had been staring at all morning.

"Sooo what's with the rock?"

I squinted at it. 

"I'm trying to move it with my powers."

Zeld's laughter was so loud I pushed him which of corse only made him laugh more. After his shoulders stopped shaking he stood up and held out his hand for me.

"Come on your never going to learn to control it that way."

I raised my eyebrows at him.

"And how would you know?"

He dropped his hand stood up straight and stared at the rock. Seconds later the rock lifted and slowly made its way to my hand. 

I stared at it in shock. What the hell just happened? Returning my gaze to Zeld I jumped to my feet.

"What the hell why didn't you tell me?"

He chuckled.

"Your older then me remember you were banished before I turned sixteen and gained my power. By the time I knew you were already gone."

He grabbed my hand.

"Come on we need to go somewhere that's closer to nature."

I stared at him skeptically resisting his pull.

"Seriously?"

He dragged me towards the forests at the back of the estate. 

"Raven I don't think Ki would like this."

I turned towards Leo or was it luke? Either way I tried to reassure them.

"Don't worry like Ward said the bounty hunters after Tharon not me and the other bounty hunter is still a captive of the blue moon pack and as long as you two are with us what's the worse that could happen?"

The twins shared a look but followed us anyway.

Zeld lead us through the gates into the forest. We only went a little way into the woods til we came to a tree that had been downed by lighting forming a flattened stump. 

"Sit on the stump."

I climbed onto it and did what he said. The stump was big enough for Zeld to climb up and sit down in front of me.

"Now take my hands and close your eyes."

I took his hands in mine and closed my eyes. I had no idea how this was going to help but if Zeld has the same power as me then he must know how it worked.

"Now concentrate on your surroundings, on the trees the wind. Feel how the wind flows through the trees feel how it moves everything around you. Our power is in that wind it's not that your moving things with your mind. You don't have telekinesis you have the power to harness the wind. You use the wind, bend it to do your bidding. That is your power."

As he spoke I felt the wind around me the way it moved. I could track it through the trees as the wind currents paved their path around us. 

"Good Rav now look for the wind inside you. The wind inside you is different feels different. The wind inside you is unique to you and you alone."

I opened my mind to the power inside me. I could feel Zeld's hands in mine giving me strength. Finally I found it an aura of sorts deep within my mind that felt exactly like when I used my power before.

"That's it Rav."

I could feel the power within me grow as my hair caressed my face the wind I was now controlling swirled around us. 

"Easy Rav Don't tap into too much of it or you'll loose control. It's about balance keeping it at a steady level."

I tried to do as he said but the pressure there was a pressure on my mind that started to grow. The power resisted my pushes as it pulsed. The wind around us got stronger.

"Rav control it!"

I couldn't I tried Zeld squeezed my hands as the wind tried to separate us. I held on trying with everything I had to hold it back. The wind circled us as my eyes snapped open my canines extended with my efforts. As the wind formed an impenetrable wall of leaves separating us from the twins. 

Zelds eyes stared into mine the force of them held my attention as the wall of leaves continued.

"You can do this Raven it's your power control it like I know you can."

Something in his eyes spoke to me like they had never done before. I found myself drowning in them as everything seemed to slow down.

"You can do this."

His words and his eyes delved into something deep inside me as I felt my power start to bend to my will. Just as it was about to dissipate a white and grey wolf burst through the wall of leaves taking Zeld with it. As our hands were ripped apart the wind around us exploded outWard felling the trees around us and throwing the twins now in wolf form into the air slamming them into the ground.

I collapsed forward my energy tapped I looked over just as Ki was about to to bite into Zelds neck. Using the last of my strength I held out my hand. In my panic I used a little too much force as Ki was thrown into one of the downed trees.

Ki shook it off as he got ready to try again quickly I struggled to Zeld throwing myself over him facing Ki hand outstretched.

"Ki no! Please it wasn't his fault it was my power he was helping me learn to control it."

Ki growled as his eyes glowed towards Zeld.

Zeld who hadn't moved tried to gently push me away.

"Rav stop it doesn't matter what you say he won't believe you."

I refused to let him push me out of the way as I knelt in front of Zeld facing Ki.

"Ki please don't kill him he was only trying to help. He has the same power as me if he wanted to hurt any of us he could have easily done it."

I could tell Ki was loosing control as he growled. To my horror he started to attack, suddenly I was pushed aside as the most beautiful wolf I'd ever seen rushed to intercept Ki. 

It's dark brown almost black fur completely covered it's body and was twice the size of Ki. As they came together the growls were deafening. 

"Zeld! Ki! Stop it!"

Although Ki was smaller by far Zeld was no closer to winning. They seemed to be evenly matched. I started to jump in even though I was barely holding my self up I had to stop them. However the twins both identical in markings and both a ruddy red colour jumped in front of me stopping me from going any further.

"You have to stop them please!"

They refused to move merely staying in between me and the wolf fight that I was forced to watch. My power was spent my strength almost gone as I watched terrified that they would kill each other.

I couldn't take it any more I would not stand by while they tried to kill each other. Using the same strength that stopped Cal, before I knew what was happening I bent to the twins eyes level. 

"Move out of my way now!"

Like Cal they instantly stepped aside tail between their legs. I rushed forward just as Zeld and Ki separated preparing for another attack. My canines grow as I growled loud enough to still their movements. While they werent attacking they were still growling.

"STOP IT!"

They both instantly turned to me their growls silenced at my voice. Their ears pulled back as their heads bowed towards me.

I didn't know what it meant this power I had over other wolves but I was glad I could stop them before they hurt each other too badly.

Ki was the first to move seemingly back to him self but I sensed was still furious. He turned towards the twins. The twins moved towards Zeld as they started ushering him back to the house. As he pasted me he rubbed up against my side. He was that big that his back came to my shoulders. Without thinking I patted his head.

"I'll be up soon to patch you up."

Ki who hadn't moved from where he was growled at the exchange. I scowled at him as Zeld and the twins continued back to the mansion.

I turned back to Ki as he approached me he sniffed my side where Zeld had rubbed up against me. He growled again causing me to groan.

"Seriously?"

He snorted as he nudged me in the direction of the others. I sighed Knowing what was coming when we got back.

Ki continued to push me up the stairs stopping when we got to his door. I opened it as he pushed me inside nudging it closed with his snout. I watched him as he paced back and forth still in wolfs form. He was as tall as my hip the room was big but not meant for a very large werewolf. 

He growled every now and then I knew he was to angry to change back so I sat on the bed and patiently waited for him to calm down.

Finally after an hour he began to change back. Silently he put pants on but continued to pace. I waited in silence knowing he was still trying to calm down and could easily end up back in wolf form if pushed.

Suddenly stopping he turned towards me.

"What were you thinking?!"

I knew it was coming so was prepared I would not let him rule me like an alpha. He may be my mate but I would not allow him to rule my actions. Calmly I answered.

"I was training."

"Training? TRAINING!"

He started pacing again.

"He's the enemy Rave and you let him lead you into the woods freely are you insane?"

"Leo and Luke were with us plus I trust him Ki why is that so hard to believe!"

He flipped the couch in frustration.

"What part of he's our enemy do you not understand. What's to stop him from killing the twins and taking you away from me!"

I groaned.

"Come on Ki if he wanted to do that he would've done it already."

He growled Falc starting to come through again.

"For fucks sakes Raven how can I make you see when Luke came and told me what was happening I thought I'd lost you. They couldn't see you, they thought he was hurting you!"

I shook my head.

"It wasn't his fault it was my power that held us not his he wasn't hurting me he was helping me. I was loosing control if it wasn't for him it would have been far worse. If you hadn't interfered I would have gained control and stopped it but no you and your jealousy had to pounce on Zeld just as i was starting to get the hang of it!"

"JEALOUS! This isn't jealousy this is because my mate willing went into a dangerous situation with someone who's still a member of an enemy pack who could have had his mind manipulated ."

I stood up now just as angry with his words.

"I know that Ki but wouldn't getting closer to him give us a better idea if his mind has been tampered with?"

His fist clenched his eyes glowing.

"Not at the risk of your own life!"

That was it I'd had enough of this argument it was getting us no where. 

"Zeld would never hurt me and no amount of mind control would ever change that."

I started to walk out but he grabbed my arm roughly.

"Don't just walk away from this!"

My patience was wearing thin as I glared at him.

"Let me go Ki."

He growled squeezing my arm tighter.

"This conversation isn't over."

Before I could stop myself I slapped him across the face. 

"It is now."

He stepped back Stunned as he let me go I ran out the door, slamming it behind me. God he was so infuriating why couldn't he realise what he did was wrong? Zeld was helping me to control my power he even knew that my power was wind not telekinesis like I first thought. 

It was strange when we were holding hands we connected on a whole other level. Maybe it was the fact that he shares the same power as me? 

Come to think of it how did he share the same power? It's not like it's a common power. I knew that each pack had their own set of unique powers but since there has been so much cross breeding between packs the powers have melded so very few packs knew which power came from their own origins and some like the blue moon pack had lost their power altogether. 

The power to harness the wind however was unheard of so how did Zeld have it? I tried to remember anything Tharon had said about Zelds origins. I racked my brain for one single thing and realised I had no idea. All I remember is Tharon coming home with him one day and that was it. I stared at the floor where I knew Zeld would be back in my old room. 

My mind made up I started down the stairs I will have answers and I would make Zeld answer them whether he liked it or not.
