58. The front lines

Damien POV

Where are they? Zeld told us they would be here. That's when I saw her the first vampire in the flesh. The creature that was the darker half of a goddess of nature. As if the pure evil that dropped off of her wasn't bad enough the blood stained lips was. This wasn't good five of my pack had already fallen to her their blood drained completely. Her speed at drinking their blood only taking a mere second. 

Shiya was fighting not far from Luna with Quin by her side. He was in wolf form his dirty grey pelt covered in scars. His snout and paws covered in blood. 

'Alpha their too strong there's no way we can beat them!'

'We don't have to beat them just stall them.'

It was curious that Shiya was still in human form why she had not shifted was beyond me. We are strongest as wolves so why stay human?

"Ahh so your the first alpha up for grabs."

I growled towards the she devil herself.

"Nice trick with the fire wall was that your idea or was it Raven's?"

The five others of my pack stood beside me as we faced her down.

"Come now don't be shy i have the power to hear you. All you have to do is project your thoughts to me. I mean I am half goddess after all."

'Don't do it Damien. Raven says that if you do she will have control of you.'

'Seriously don't you think that would have been helpful to know before the battle started?!'

What was wrong with Raven she had plenty of time to tell us these things before so why didn't she?

"No? That's too bad."

In a split second she had two of my wolves by the throat. 

"What's the matter alpha of the red paw pack to scared to make a move?"

I saw one of the others start towards her.

'No dont! That's what she wants we can't just jump in we have to be smart.'

"What's the matter young alpha to afraid to attack now that your fathers not around to help?"

I growled at her my anger rising.

"I must admit I have to give credit to Shiya for thinking that one up. I couldn't have done better myself she really is just like me. I saw it all you know."

The two wolves she held in her hands she roughly threw away like they were yesterdays trash. The sounds of the others fighting Shiya and quin not to far away penetrated the night, but with her next words all I heard was this evil bitch's voice as my blood boiled.

"Shiya was there when she had that little sister of yours kill her own father. She let me watch her memories I have to say it was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. The way her told her he forgives her and the way she shook as she tried to fight the control quin had over her."

She licked her lips.

"All the blood made me so hungry. Raven creations are so fun to play with wouldn't you agree?"

That was it before I knew it I was charging at her the others yelling at me through the mindlink to stop me but I shut them all out as I lunged my canines ready.

She swung her arm to punch but I was faster then the others, ducking to the side. I slashed at her side my fire melded into the attack only for her to back flip away from the flames. Darting to the side she kicked me in the ribs sending me flying the whole thing happening in seconds. The others pounced but she merely set them flying with a swipe of her arm.

A split second later she was before me as she reached out picking me up by the scruff at my neck. Now at eye level she smiled her fangs clearly visible. 

"My other half's creations...."

"Pathetic every single one of you. She has the hide to regret creating me as if I was inferior to the likes of you. Yet look at you now crushed by one blow. You call yourself alpha? Like that makes you stronger? Heh what a joke."

I tried to get out of her grasp but it was useless, all I could do was struggle as she pulled back, her fangs growing as she went in to feed. I held my breath when suddenly a large form crashed into us ripping us apart. 

Thrown to the ground yet again I lifted my head as Loki fought head to head with Luna. They fought at lighting speed I had trouble following them. 

'Damien! Let Loki handle Luna help the others with Shiya and Quin. You need to separate Shiya from the others.'

I growled through the mindlink remembering Luna's words about my father.

'No I want Luna for myself!'

'Don't be an idiot you have no hope of taking her on alone let Loki and the forest lakes wolves handle her.'

Sure enough I watched as five other forest lakes wolves joined the fight. All of them taking on Luna matching her in speed and strength. 

'Arghh fine.'

I looked over to where Shiya and Quin were fighting , they seemed to be overwhelming members of my pack. Zeld was right they needed my help and if we had to separate Shiya then that's what I'll do. Especially since she was the one that was the cause of my fathers death by my sisters hand in the first place.

I gave myself a few more seconds for my wounds to heal while I contacted the rest of the pack on the front lines.

'Harth how is everything on your end?'

'We're holding our own the forest lakes wolves that came at the start are a big help in holding them back.'

'That's good to hear keep me posted.'

'Will do.'

Right time to jump back in. My wounds were only superficial so they were completely healed by the time I'd received Harths report. Good thing too because it looks like this was going to take awhile. 

Without even a glance at Luna and Loki's fight I heading straight for Shiya. My paws taking me at breaking speed as I jumped into the fray. However my blow didn't land since Quin blocked my path at the last second. I only narrowly managed to avoid his jaws as he tried to sink his teeth into my neck.

"Ah ah ah alpha. Did you really think it was that easy to get near me?"

I growled towards Shiya as she stepped up to Quinn's side her hand on his shoulder.

"Why don't you shift back so we can talk hmmm?"

'Don't do it she's baiting you into fighting in your weaker form.'

'I know that Zeld I don't need your constant in put.'

'Sorry just trying to help.'

'Help? If you want to help then how about you get that goddess mate of yours to start fighting with us before we all die!'

'She's doing what she can.'

'I'll believe that when I see it.'

I growled my frustration growing as yet another of my wolves was pulled from the packs connection in death.

Returning my attention to Shiya and Quin I growled as I started circling them both. 

'Alpha the wolf is strong almost as strong as a forest lakes wolf.'

One of my members conveyed as he circled them giving me back up. We were the last two left to face them, the others preoccupied with their own battles. 

'Curious that Shiya does not shift. Has she shifted at all?'

'No, but there's a reason for that though.'

'What do you mean?'

'Can you not smell it?'

I sniffed the air as Shiya and Quin followed our movements an air of arrogance about them both. As I sniffed it hit me, how had I not noticed it before? How was it possible and for what reason? I couldn't piece it together but There was no denying it. The reason she hadn't shifted was because her wolf... was gone.
