54. The first lycanthropes

It wasn't long before Zeld had gathered all the elders and alphas including their betas to where Caryi and I waited. All of them stared at me irritation in the eyes of the other two alphas curiosity In the forest lakes wolves. Zeld was the only one present seeming to hold his breath waiting for whatever it was I had to share.

"What's this about alpha Raven?"

I sighed as I turned to face them ripping  my eyes from the view of the window. 

"It must be important enough to wake us in the middle of the night."

"I've called you all here to warn you. At midnight tomorrow night when the moon is at its highest Luna and those that follow her will attack."

All in the room stared silent as my words sunk in. Then their voices spoke over the top of one another each with a different question. Holding up my hand I silenced them.

"You have questions I know but I would ask that you wait til I finish before you voice them."

I waited for them to confirm their agreement. Once they had all inclined their heads I clasped my hands before me building up the power I needed.

"First I must apologise to all of you for What is happening between the packs now and for what has happened in the past. When I created werewolves I had thought to merely bridge the gap between humans and nature. The hardships that wolves of the present and past have had to endure is all my doing."

Slowly I pulled apart my hands as a sphere appeared between them. The sphere of light grew til it was big enough for all in the room to see. The light began to fade as it became translucent. Inside the sphere held my life as a goddess of nature. 

"My story begins in the time of the great wars between humans. For years I watched humans fight against each other forever fueling their hatred. They fought over power, money, revenge. Whatever reason they could find it didn't matter. As the goddess of nature I watched as those wars killed the earth beneath them, poisoned the water around them even distorting the very air they breath all in order to kill each other not giving one thought as to what they did to the world around them."

The sphere showed the results of these wars.

"The longer the wars raged on the more damage that covered the earth. I pleaded with my father to do something to stop them but he would not listen. He who had created humans and brought about these beings that held no regard for what they were doing. Denied by my father I continued to look on as my realm was stained with the blood of those never ending wars. As the years passed the war still raged on however amongst the darkness of the blood shed was a shimmer of light in the form of a human girl named Tatiana."

The sphere showed a sixteen year old girl black of hair and green eyes like my own. In fact she was the splitting image of myself as I looked now. 

"There was something different about her she held a light inside her. A light that spread to every person she came in contact with. She was so full of love and kindness that even the animals I ruled over approached her without fear. As I watched this girl I knew what I had to do. I knew that she was the answer to my prayers."

I smiled down at the image that was like looking in the mirror. 

"My mind made up I asked the white wolf leader of her pack to approach Tatiana. I proposed that they should join together and work as one to end the wars of humans in order to save the force of nature. She agreed welcoming the wolf into herself mind body and soul and together they became the first lycanthrope hybrid. Once their bond was formed with the power of both wolf and human they did all that they could to change the mind of humans to end their senseless fighting. With my power enhancing Tatiannas light they were making a difference. With every human they touched Tatianas light spread. the humans were listening to their plea. Peace reigned and the force of nature was saved as more of my wolves joined with humans creating the first lycanthrope pack. They watched over the humans helping them bridge the gap between humans and nature."

My eyes met each and every face in that room my story pulling them with every word. 

"However i was a fool in my arrogance I thought that I had made a difference. That in joining humans with wolves it would be enough to sway the hearts of humans. I watched as Tatiana was betrayed. Those that swore to follow the ways of peace turned on her and her pack."

The sphere showed an ambush as the lycans were attacked the humans fearing their power. 

"They killed her sending the white wolf Caryi back to me almost dead herself. I became enraged my hatred towards humans for what they had done to such a pure hearted soul pushed me into a fury. I cursed them for what they had done. If they wanted blood shed I would give them blood shed. I split myself in two creating a twin filled with all the darkness and hatred I was feeling at Tatianas death. I made them feed off each other's blood just as they had feed off of Tatianas blood. I created the first vampires as retribution for the death of Tatiana."

An image of the luna we know today appeared within the sphere as she reeked havoc among human kind. Every human she feed off created more vampires. 

"Her hatred knew no bounds she devoured mercilessly. The humans begged for mercy but I was consumed with my grief I refused to help them. That was until Tatianas daughter came to me on the humans behalf. She had the same light that her mother held she was just as kindhearted. She convinced me that what I had done went against everything that I had tried to do when Caryi joined her mother. I saw the error in my actions but by then it was too late. Luna had become too strong. Not even my creation of lycanthropes could stop her. So I took on Tatianas body that I had preserved out of respect for what she had tried to do and together with Caryi we hunted down all the vampires that Luna had created. I tried to pull her back into myself but that was no longer possible she had become the darker version of myself equal in power. I knew there was only one way to stop her. I sealed her in the highest mountain of Greenland using the northern lights that touched its peak as her prison. I knew that this would not hold her forever. So I bond my fate to hers if there was ever a time her seal became weak I would be born as a lycanthrope with Caryi to stop her each time."

I clicked my fingers the sphere disappearing with the sound as I stared into each face.

"I am the reborn version of the moon goddess creator of both werewolves and Vampires. Luna is a part of me yet at the same time not. Each time she has broken free I have managed to seal her back into her prison. I have tried each time to kill her completely but have failed, because of what I have done every time she breaks free she goes after every werewolf punishing me for sealing her away. Her escape is merely another attempt at destroying everything that I have created."

Tears well in my eyes but don't fall as my mind remembers every time I have lived only to loose my loved ones over and over again. As a goddess I did not feel the loss so much since when my creations died their souls merely rejoined nature and in turn me but since the first time I took human form I gave up my right as a goddess. In doing so when each of my lives end I am stuck in darkness never to rejoin those that I left behind. I told them none of this as my eyes met Zelds. If I fail to undo this curse, if I fail to kill Luna indefinitely then he to will join those that I will never see again in my passing.

'Do not cry small one you may not see them but I do and none of them have forgotten you. They know that your sacrifice is not in vein and that one day you will find a way back to them.'

"Im sorry all of you must suffer for my mistakes of the past but this battle is coming and you need to know who you are dealing with or you will all die."

The first to speak after my story was Damien as he stood up I saw doubt in his eyes.

"Do you really expect us to believe you are the true goddess. I admit that you have power and I believed you when you said that this power was given to you by the goddess herself but come on."

Caryi growled at him as Nate stood as well.

"I agree with Damien how do we know this isn't just some tall story meant to strengthen your hold on all our packs? Even if it's true why would you not tell us before now? If you truly are the goddess then prove it."

I sighed why must my creations always be so stubborn. Calmly I spoke two words.

"SIT DOWN!"

Instantly both sat back down obeying my order without question surprise and fear in their eyes.

"Just in case that was not prof enough look upon me and you will know that I am your creator, I am your goddess."

I stood straight as all eyes hold my own each pair widening in fear as my light made them see exactly what they were in the presence of.....the pure power of a goddess.
