The Truth About Tuesday Episode 3. Judi Series Season 1

@

Alexanderwrites

As she walked gracefully into the office of the boss, she could feel her heart beat faster and blood surging hot through her veins. She had never been this scared before... not ever. She was not used to the life of danger or having to be on the run from anyone. When she got to the door, the office was already open and the boss was standing right there waiting for her.

“Come in, Judi” he ushered her into the office. “Please sit down."

Judi felt the boss was naturally weird today. If something, he never stuck to the polite nature, he loved screaming at his employees and reminding them of the numerous deadlines that they had to meet. Deadline that had brought them here.

“This is Mr. Clement, he is a police detective Judi” a pause “You can trust him” the way he said that, made Judi look at the two men with confusion in her eyes. Could she really trust anyone with the truth?

“Judi, am I calling it right?” Clement was staring right into her eyes.

“Yes sir” she replied.

“You can trust me, okay” he smiled again. But something told her, this was just probably a smile to win her impression over but she nodded anyway “I happen to think that you and Makinde have a tape that may be complicated."

Judi was surprised. How in the name of God did he know that? What the frack nails was he doing here? Judi swallowed hard, and with the gulp of saliva, she pushed in the truth more into her stomach. She was feeling more thirst than she could tell right now as her pulse kept on racing.

“Sir, I don’t really know where Makinde is” a pause “And we have no such tape that may be complicated except what we worked on together on a project last year which is open for everyone to see."

The boss offered her cold water from the freezer. Judi was crazed with thirst at the moment and took the cup into her lips then her thoughts came back. She couldn’t sip the water. What if it was poisoned. She looked up at the boss to find him smiling at her. His face was urging her to drink up. She just had a sixth sense for a danger and a seventh sense when something didn’t feel right. She pushed the water to the table but she could see the eyes of the two men had followed all her actions.

“I know you have seen a lot but you can trust us right now” Clement continued “We will keep you safe and make sure that whoever is after you can’t get you, okay."

“But he...” she caught herself short

“You were saying?” He was caught by the abrupt stop of her words.

“Nothing” then she made up a lie “He can be anywhere. I mean Makinde” a pause “Maybe, you should talk to him. I have no idea what you’re talking about."

The two men stared at her. For the first time, she could see the pity rolling their eyes and she felt totally lost.

“We can’t talk to Makinde” the boss finally let it out.

“Why?” she retorted “Maybe he has a reason for being absent from work. You can’t just fire him."

“He has a reason Judi” the boss came closer to her and held her shoulder then breathed the words that took her breathe out “Makinde is dead."

“What?” she was lost, how could it happen so fast, they had talked last night and now he was... That was not possible. It couldn’t be possible. People don’t just end up dying like that.

“That is why you have to trust us” Clement breathed “We are the only people that can keep you safe at the moment.”

“How do I know that you will?” she scoffed with the tears streaming down her eyes.

“Okay Judi. Enough of this nonsense” Clement pulled out his pistol and pointed it right to her face “Am sorry” he nodded at the boss “I can’t play the sore feet for so long."

“So you killed him?”

“I did” he smiled mischievously. Now Judi knew why she couldn’t get herself to trust him “And if you had sipped that water. It would have been way easier and painless” Judi was staring at the door. Praying for her moment of escape “Don’t even think about it?” he warned her sternly.

“You are in on this too” she found the surging liquids out as she held a glance at her boss who felt disappointed. He just kept quiet

“Where is the tape, Judi?” Clement asked “And who else knows about Tuesday” she didn’t respond. All she watched was the door. “I don’t even know why you and Makinde care so much about this” a pause “For God’s sake, they are criminals and we have an overflowing system. Do you think it is easy having to keep so many of them without casualties."

“Casualties you inflicted” the tears silently dropped from her eyes “They are human beings."

“Dont be a fuzz...” he didn’t complete the sentence, when Emily, the boss secretary and secret girlfriend waltzed through the door and surprisingly caught the men off guard, but not Judi. She had waited for this kind of moment and the heavens had answered her request. She made her way out from the door. She could hear the utter cursing of the inspector as she ran through the corridor. She knew he wasn’t alone and she had her purse.

Judi took the stairs flying the space with a surge of new life. Some seconds ago, a gun had been pointed right to her face and now she felt more energy stream into her arteries and she couldn’t just stop.
