" look at me cassie " I said using my thumbs to wipe her teary face. I gave her a grim smile
" cry all you want... Yes cassie, cry till there are no tears left" I say
" but make sure this is the last time you'll ever cry about him " I concluded as she smiled weakly at me. Burying her face in my shoulders, she broke into a fit of fresh sobs. I patted her back slowly
" you'll be fine" I say gently as I glanced at her face. She was already fast asleep. Her eyes though looked sad but her face was gentle. I made sure to cover her in the blankets as I switched off the lights.
Soon toyo's call came through
" what's up baby momma " he called as cheerful as always
" baby momma isn't feeling happy " I reply
" what happened? "
" it's cassie"
" is she okay "he asked worriedly
" yeah.. Just that, jerkface broke up with her " I reply as toyo gritted his teeth
" that bastard... Why did he breakup with her? " he asked
" no reason... He says he doesn't have feelings for her again " I reply shrugging as toyo huffs
" I bet if I see him I promise to make him eat his own balls " toyo threatened as I glanced at Meera who was still sleeping
" so how is she? "
" she's sleeping... Like she literally cried herself to sleep " I say as he sighs
" she'll be fine " he said and I nodded
"Yeah she will "
" so why aren't you sleeping? Oh you so you were talking to man Abi? " he asks jokingly as I laugh
" you are the man na! Thank goodness that you are not even sleeping " I said still laughing we chatted about different things while I carefully avoided my reasons of me being awake.

I wake up to the smell of jollof spaghetti and sardines wafting my nostrils as I blinked my eyes open to see Nene smiling brightly at me as she held the food close to the bed
" hmm what's this one... Breakfast in bed? " I ask jokingly as she hiss.
" good morning to you too " I nod my head quickly going over to the bathroom to do some wash up before devouring the food together with Nene.
It was just so good to have Nene around.
Minutes after we had eaten, Nene and I were already laying down on the bed.
" you seem better than last night " she said and I shrugged
" all thanks to you b "I reply
" toyo called "
" did you tell him anything? "
She nodded " yeah... He asked about you, so I told him, funny enough he threatened to make Sam pay " she said chuckling a bit as I smile ruefully
" how about we turn up for zainab's party next tomorrow? " she asked. I knew she just really wanted me to forget about Sam and I was grateful for that
" Nene.... " I started to protest when she held her hands up
" listen, you have just two options "

" you show up or you turn up... Choose "she said smirking as I roll my eyes
" I choose to decline " I say making her face twist into a frown
" declination isn't an option " she whined
" okay.... But... " I was about to say something when the sound of Fireboy's vibration started playing making Nene spring up suddenly to dance as I laughed
" Nene you don't have sense ooh so instead of you to bring my phone, you are busy dancing "I say laughing out loud
" abeg joor let's dance a little " she say ignoring me as I picked up my phone from where it was
" who's calling you? " she asked as she noticed my face twist into a frown
" Edwina" I reply taking in a sharp breath, I slide the green caller to answer
" hello ma good afternoon " I greet
" and what is so good about the afternoon? " her cold high-pitched voice reply mockingly from the other end that I could even imagine a sneer on her face
" sorry ma " I say as she shushs me up
" excuse you.... When do you plan on coming back to see your grandma you witch? Just like you succeeded in killing your mother now you want to finish your grandmother? I don't blame you. If you like stay there and eat my husband's money. Olosho glutton " she spats before hanging up. Not even giving me a chance to speak.
Nene comes to sit beside me "are you okay? " she ask as I nodded hesitantly
" grand ma is sick " I say shrugging
" eyah... Pele " she says patting my back softly as I nod giving her a grim smile
" I think I'll be going home tomorrow" I say
" should I come with you? "
" don't worry. I'll be fine "
" send my regards to grandma okay "
" I will.. Thanks Nens " I say smiling gratefully at her as she engulfs me in a bear hug
" what are friends for " she says...
For me. Friends aren't those who make your problems go away but they are those who will stand by you to support you when you are going through tough times. What kind of friends will I ask for if not for Nene and toyosin?
