First day at work

Very early the following morning Susan woke up and get dress for work. She could only make do with what Cathy gift her. She has a fashionista she package herself very well looking as beautiful as possible.

 She arrive at exactly fifteen minute before seven, she met only few of employee since official resumption time is eight o clock . Susan went into the elevator,she arrived at the CEO floor in no time and sat comfortably at the secretary cubicle. Ten minutes later Jerry came in and was surprised to see her waiting.

 She knows she was a spoilt brat then but surprised she is diligent too. He smile looking at her. It was as if Susan felt someone gaze at her back, she turn back to meet his eyes. Jerry did not have much time to hide his embarrassment but found only clear his throat and greeted her. 

" Morning miss Richard.!" 

" Morning sir! " She greeted standing up from her seat . She follow closely behind him, they enter his office together 

. " Susan I usually have my coffee in the morning immediately I came in and after that you tell me my schedule for the day. We will progress according to my schedule."

 Susan nod in understanding. Before she went out to make his coffee according to his preference. As she was coming from the pantry she met one of the secretary from yesterday, she greet her with a smile but the latter just coldly snort at her. Susan just smile at her expression her behaviour is nothing new to her she she her head inward wondering what she has done wrong to receive the cold shoulder. 

She look at her and continue to head toward the boss office. She placed the coffee on the table but he did not look up from his work at all. Susan stood there waiting for further instructions. After about five minutes of waiting he looked up and push a set of document towards her. 

" Sign it! It is agreement for the company. " Jerry instructed sipping his coffee. Susan did not think much of it and just append her signature. Little did she know she has just sign an agreement to bond herself with  this black belly man. Jerry smirk when he saw her signing, he nod to himself.  He collected the papers and place it inside his drawer and lock it. Susan raise an eyebrow, she wonder why she did not do this with HR department instead of the CEO but she did not think much of that.

" Miss Richard, I want your table to be placed right outside my office, I won't want you inside the secretary cubicle. More so, if you need anything or anything is not clear to you, just ask me directly. Here have it." Susan collect the papers handed to her. " what is it for sir.?" 

" It contains the company rules, study it."  Susan nod and left the office. Immediately she step out she met the two secretaries waiting for her at her table, they have been informed since yesterday that she will be occupying assistant matt table. 

" Hi ! my name is Susan. how are you doing? " she said with a smile while gelding out her hands for hand shake." Am fine my name is John, glad to have you here and she is Clara." John ( one of the secretary) shakes her hand and pat her on the back while Clara ignore her hands and just nod at her. Susan withdraw her hand, she did not know why this lady is giving her attitude not that she mind thou. She is not here to make friends but to work. 

  John noticed Clara attitude and felt embarrassed he doesn't know why she will behaves like that, was it because she has interest in the boss but he never glance her way or she saw Susan as a threat or what.  He wonder if he is not good looking enough for her not to see him but rooted for the boss. He hissed inwardly but face Susan to joke with her. 

" Hello beauty, you are welcome once again and I hope we all work together in harmony and don't mind Clara she is in a very bad mood this morning. She is very friend and I know the two of you will get along well.

 " And who are you to speak for me? " Clara said looking at John with disdain.

  John did not answer but directly drag her away towards there cubicle before she embarrass him further. Susan look at them and chuckle, from the voice of Clara she know she have some hatred towards her. ' We will see what you are capable of .'  She said to herself, she is no longer that naive girl in Country A, she has woken up and know what people are capable of. She sat on her seat and face all her work.

Inside Jerry's office, his face was plastered with a smile all through. He glance at his watch and see it is almost lunch time. He took his phone and order food online. He rush through some of the documents, he want to have lunch with Susan today. With that thought at heart it makes his work easier .

John stood up from his seat and went to Susan. " Hi."  Susan raised up her head to look at him. " I want to invite you for lunch as a welcome lunch. "  Susan look at her watch to see it is time for lunch, her stomach growl at the mentioning of lunch, she has not taken anything in the morning. She packed up what she is doing to follow him. " Sure, let's go! Thank you for your thoughtfulness. I have not even taken anything in the morning. " John smile when he heard that.

 " Alright, let's go then. I will even show you around." She stood up to leave, she has not taken two steps when the phone on her desk rang. " Sorry, let me pick that up. " She kick up the call and listen to what the boss has for her. " Am sorry John! I won't be able to go with you today. Boss asked me to get something for him. Maybe some other time." She said flashing apologetic smile at him. 

" Alright! another time then. Go attend to your work while I get going." 

  Clara fumed on her seat when she heard she wanted to attend to the boss. " I will make sure, you leave this office. bitch!!!"

Susan open the door to his office an place the takeout on the table. " Sir, your lunch is on the table. Is there any other thing you want me to do for you sir." she asked gently without looking up. Jerry stood up and work to the sofa. He sat down leisurely without answering her questions. He took his cutlery and dig in . " Are you going to stand there all day?" Susan was annoyed with that statement . She raised her head to look at him she is hungry and that is why she asked if he has anything for her but he ignore her and asking her now if she will stand here all day. Jerry smile, he knows she is annoyed. He gesture at the food on the table and asks her to join him. 

" Thank you sir, I will pass. I will grab my lunch at the cafeteria later."  Jerry dropped the fork on the table and look at her. " It seems you don't read the agreement you signed this morning lady?" Susan was stunned to hear that. She did not read it but just sigh. What is it she has signed she asked herself.

 " Clause number eight state you must obey your boss directly which is me..." he point to himself.  "....without any question,  Failure to do that you will forfeit one month the salary. Do you want to loss the salary on your first day?" he asked with amusement. Susan wide her eyes at the revelation. She cursed herself for not reading such thing. She made a mental note to read through any document that require her signature in the future. She could only grit her teeth and seat down to eat with the devil.

 Unknown to them Clara has opened the door to see the two of them eating together. She quietly close the door without anyone notice. Clara was red with anger, she made up her mind there to make life difficult for Susan in the office.
