Where am I?

Susan woke up on the third day. ' Where am I ?' was the first question that came to her mind. She felt so weak, it is understandable since she just gain her consciousness.

 Her whole body felt heavy, she felt pain all over. Her eye lid heavy that she find it difficult keeping it open. She felt a bit stuffy and her throat itchy and dry. 

After she opened her eyes very well she look around the room, she stare at the white ceiling with her empty gaze. She examine herself and noticed she is sick. She wanted to lift her hands but she noticed something was attached to her hand. She was startled but when she look closely she recognized it was an I V bag. She heave a sigh of relieve. In her mind she is grateful to whom ever might help her that even put her on a drip.

 She closed her eyes to remembered what happened last before she past out but her mind seem blank.  She felt a pain on her head, she manage to sit on her bed as she needed to visit the bathroom. She was startled when she noticed a bandage on her ankle too. She sat on her bed thinking. She is confused on what is going on. 

She sat there looking into space when the door was pushed open. Someone beautiful came in wearing white lab coat. The lady came closer to her with a bright smile on her beautiful face. " Thank God you are awake." the lady said to her while checking her vital signs. 

Susan just look at her not saying anything. " My name is Cathy."  she continue " I know you have a lot of questions on your mind with the way you are looking at me.....but don't worry I will answer all of it ...."  Susan interrupted her before she continue with her monologue. 

" I know am in the hospital there is no need for me to ask. Can you please remove this." she point to her hand. "I want to visit the toilet." Cathy called two nurses to help her to the toilet. She waited patiently until she came out and lay on the bed. 

" Miss Susan, how are you feeling now? "  

Susan look at her . " My head still hurt a little and am sore all over." she answered weakly.

   " You will be fine in no time my dear." Cathy gently pat her on the shoulder and made to leave.

 " Dr Cathy ? Please where am I and who brought me here? "  Susan asked as gently as possible.

 Cathy turn back to her. She smile at her. She remembered Jerry that has been tireless taken care if her. How he abandoned all his work to be with her for three days and how he had to rush out to attend to a very important business. 

   She sigh when she recollect her promise to help him the other time. She knows it will not help him if she had to mention his name she has to come up with something . 

" You see Susan, let just thank God you are alive and to answers your questions you are in the capital city of country F. I saved you from the rain. When I find you in your home.....you are seriously drenched from the rain. As you can see as well your ankle is injured too."

  Cathy  sigh when she finished her story. Thou everything she said is true but she is not the hero. Susan furrow her brow when she heard her story,she thought she saw a man. She shook her head at it, she might have see wrong or probably hallucinating. 

" Thank you for taken care of me Doc." She said after she gather her thought. 

"You are welcome sweetie . My dear you can call me Cathy . I feel comfortable that way. Susan can I ask you a question?" Cathy asked sitting down on the chair opposite her.        

" Sure go ahead Doc....sorry Cathy."  She smile at her when the latter fake a frown at her.

 " It's alright. Now to my question. How did you injure your ankle. I know your are not a troublesome type mere looking at you...." Susan sigh. She like this lady for her concern but can she trust her?  She might need her help later why not table her problems now.      

 " Cathy, Thank you for your concern, I appreciate you. Someone set me up, you know I came here not long and I work at a restaurant  but it seems my colleague don't want me, so she set me up and here am I ."   Susan said with a shrug. 

   " That so bad of her. Am sorry you have to experience that it happens everywhere but this one is extreme. My dear don't let me stress you so much. I have asked someone to bring you food. I get to go now I have other patient to attend to."  

 " Thanks so much Cathy am truly grateful."    Cathy just smile at her without a word.  With that she stood and leave the ward. Susan stare at the door with smile. She can see genuine care in her eyes but she seems to be hiding something from her. She closed her eyes and smile at least she took care of her. 

Not long after the doctor left someone came in with tray of food and fruit that will help her recovery fast. She finished her food in a rush but elegantly she is quite famished. After her meal she gently lay on the bed and fall asleep. The nurse tucked in her blanket and clear the tray. She quietly leave the ward for her to sleep.

In Cathy's office.

She bring out her phone from her pocket she saw a few missed calls. She has put it on silent when she wanted to attend to some of her patient just now. It has become her habit. 

    She smirk when she saw almost ten missed calls from that lover boy. She knows he would have call. He have rushed out this morning and it is almost four hours now. She dialed his number  to tease him a little." Hello lover boy! What can I do for you? " She said stifling a smile. " You know what you can do for me and why don't you pick up your calls. I having been calling for hours." 

     " Really! I don't know you were calling and if I may ask what do you need. As you can see I need to attend to my patients. Am not a certain someone that is employer of labour." she said sarcastically.

  Jerry chuckle at her word. " Cathy , how is she? as she woken up yet?!" 

   " I don't know who you are talking about."

   " Please Cathy answer me, I beg you. How is she doing? "

 " OK! OK! Mr lover boy. She is awake." she said with a sigh. Jerry stood up from his seat in his office he was so thrilled to hear that she is finally awake. 

 " Look Cathy! am coming down there right now! "

  " No my dear! don't do that! it will not be ideal for you to be here. Just wait and take care of yourself first you look so terrible. You have to shave and rest. More so I did not mention you in front of her." Cathy narrate everything that happened awhile ago to him. 

  He sigh on the other end and sat lazily on his swivel chair.  He can only see but not touch. ' How I wish to hug you my love .' he said to himself.

     He as to be patience and go with what Cathy said or else he will push her away this time.  Cathy shook her head and put her phone on the table before she continue to do her job.

 At warm restaurant

Mrs Andrews sat alone in her office. She have searched everywhere for Susan but it is like she as evaporate into a thin air. It seems she did not exist in the first place. She call one of her employee to ask about her for the umpteenth time. " Luna, have you heard of Susan of late." 

" No ma. " She answered with a tone of rejection she also missed her greatly.

 It is been six days now. " You can go then. Just let me know when she call or comes in."

 Mrs Andrews said with a tone full of worry. She is very worry about her especially her situation. Not only that many of her customer are asking  for her. 

She is very hardworking and intelligent girl. By now she k ow some of her important guest did not really like some of her workers . ' Who will even want them when what they do is to flirt and throw themselves at them. Who will even want them. 

She was brought out of her world when she heard one of the customers shouting outside demanding to see her. She went out to attend to them but the more she see the attitude of her other employee the more she made up her mind to look for Susan.
