OLIVIA'S POV

We had already closed for the day and I was waiting for Mr Patrick, my driver, to come pick me up. I would be attending my first real party tomorrow and I was excited.

Jayden and I haven't really seen each other after the day I gave Dele my number, I only saw him yesterday and he gave me a blank look.

Who cares?

I was gonna visit Mimi today after school, she came to my house yesterday, for the first time and my parents welcomed her so well, Bode kept on sticking around just so she could come play with him and that made me laugh.

Yeah, my step mom and my step-brother now live with us and it has been wonderful so far.

I was waiting for a really long time before I decided to sit down on the school's pavement, I brought out my phone and I saw a text from Jayden.

Jayden

Can I come sit with you?

4:45pm

I tilted my head from left to right in search of him, and then I saw him walking towards me, he waved at me from afar, when he got closer lowered himself and sat on the pavement with me.

Why was he doing this?

"Hey baby face. Why are you still in school by this time?"

"The same reason that has kept you in school." I rolled my eyes.

"I knew it!" He yelped in excitement.

"You knew what?" I asked in confusion.

"I knew you'd look so cute when you rolled your eyes."

"Are you even serious?"

"So why are you still in school?" He questioned.

"I'm waiting for my driver but I guess I'll be trekking home today." I let out frustratedly, and he couldn't help but chuckle.

"Maybe I'll drop you off?" He suggested, more like in a questioning tone.

"No, I'm fine. Why are you even in school by this time? Your sister and cousins already left."

"I forgot a file my dad asked me to get from the principal, so I had to come back to get it." He explained. "That was when I saw you sitting here, like a lost puppy." He laughed.

He was beautiful.

"This is the reason we aren't friends."I rolled my eyes, again.

"Why?" His face fell.

"Because you're always throwing indirect insults at me," I scoffed, and he laughed again, this time more irking. "and everything is a joke to you." I complete in annoyance.

"Life on it's own is a joke. If I'm too serious, I'll just end up like my dad."

"Rich and successful." I reminded.

His phone rang immediately, I took a quick glance at his phone and it was 5mthe lastest iPhone of course, "Yes dad. I'm almost home." He answered, and then ended his call. He then rose from the pavement, now standing on his feet. "Let me drop you off." He offered, again.

"I said I'm fine." I tilted my face away from his profile.

He shook his head, "When people say they're fine, they're actually dying. Especially girls."

"Even if I wanted to accept your offer, what am I gonna tell my my dad? Good Samaritan." I sneered.

"Have you even called your driver?" He sarcastically questioned.

That was when I realised, I didn't even bother to call my driver. I slid open my phone, went to my contacts and I clicked on Mr Patrick's contact. I placed the phone over my ear.

"Hello madam." He answered.

"Patrick, where are you?"

"Madam, person just hit my car now now now, na mechanic I dey so. I don call oga, he say make you use taxi come house. Abeg, no vex." [Someone just ran into the car, and I'm at the mecahnic's. I've placed a call over to your dad, and he said you should take a taxi home. Please, don't be angry.]

"Okay." I muttered, disappointed. I ended the call and looked up at Jayden.

"So are you coming or not?" He inquired, raising an eyebrow.

"No!" I barked.

"I'm not gonna kidnap you, you're so indescribable."

"Just go away ah!"

Why was I acting this way?

Was it because of the girl I saw on his WhatsApp profile? Or it was just something else?

"Thanks for the ride, Mide." I appreciated as he pulled over in front of my dad's duplex.

"It's Jayden, only my parents call me, Olumide." He corrected.

"Okay, Jayden." I unhooked the seat belt, as I was about to open the door he held my left wrist.

"I'll see you at the party tomorrow, right?" He looked at me with hope in his eyes.

"Yeah." I replied bluntly, making him grin almost immediately.

"So I can always come visiting, right?"

"No!"

"Why?"

"Because my dad is gonna rip your balls off. Just. Don't. Come." I declared, making sure he digested every word.

"Okay." He shrugged.

"And tell your sister I'll make up for today's disappointment." I said, feeling a pit of sadness in my stomach.

"Okay. Bye."

I got down from the car and I bided him goodbye by waving my hand at him, he drove off after waving back. I looked until I couldn't see his Mercedes-Benz C300 2018, then I looked away, and walked to finally knock on the gate.

"Who dey dia? " Adamu shouted from inside. [Who's there?]

"It's me, Olivia!" I yelled back.

One thing about Adamu was that he didn't speak any other language apart from Pidgin English and Hausa. "Who?" He asked whilst opening the gate.

"Olivia." I answered.

He finally opened the gate and saw me standing outside. "Madam, sorry o!" He apologized. I shoved him aside and I walked into the compound.

I got to the main door, rang the door bell, and then I heard footsteps coming close, the door swung open and it was step-mom.

"Good evening mom." I hugged her.

"Ahan, where's Patrick?" Bode immediately stopped crying and he ran to me, I hugged him and carried him in my arms.

"He said someone bashed the car and he was at the mechanic's." I answered, while we walked into the living room.

"All this Lagos drivers sef." She complained, we got to the living room and I placed Bode on the couch, then I sat down. I started taking off my tie, my shoe and socks.

"Mommy, what's for dinner?" I was damn hungry and I thanked my God that my stomach did not rumble inside Jayden's car.

"Jollof rice." She said and I screamed in excitement, doing a funny food dance on the couch

"Let me go have my bath, I'll come back." I said, racing to my room to hastily freshen up. Jollof rice can't be traded for anything.
