Ponder

I stared at her. Here I was now, in the Archangel Hall and what did I do? I stared at Nyria for claiming to have slapped an archangel. Nereus' loud growl pulled me back. I immediately pushed my girl behind me to protect her. Baring my teeth, I turned to Nereus.

"My wife was never your enemies and never did anything, so what makes you think you can just kill her like that?" I hurled at him.

"Your wife?" He yelled back. “That I don't laugh. She is nothing but a freak! "

That brought the barrel to overflow for me. With a flaming hand and a terrifying growl, I lunged at Nereus. I was well aware that this was the wrong time. This fight just messed everything up! But I didn't care at that moment. Did he dare to insult my wife? He would regret that!

"Zayn, pull yourself together!" Yelled Nyria. And suddenly she was by my side and pulled me back.

"Don't," she breathed. Instead of me, she would have been hit if she hadn't dodged elegantly. 

"We can't allow ourselves that now.", She whispered in my ear and stood protectively in front of me.

“I know, babe. But he insulted you. ", I replied irritably. She looked up at me with a grin. 

“That's why he received the slap in the face. And now let's see how we get away from here. "

Your words made a lot of sense, but I had no idea how to put them into practice. We were both strong, but surrounded by archangels we wouldn't have a chance. I looked into the faces of my brothers. I could tell by their eyes that they were going to let us go. They weren't on Nereus' side, but he was the most dangerous of them. You had to expect anything with him, and that was what made him so damn dangerous. Nereus wanted to pounce on us again, but Nyria yanked me aside and then closed her hand tightly around my wrist.  

"Come on," she breathed and pulled me with her.

I wondered what she was up to and let her pull me after her. She ran through all the corridors and it seemed like she had been here before. Why did she know her way around here so well? Apparently she seemed to have guessed my thoughts, because her presence made itself felt inside me.

I just rely on my feelings, honey. This used to be your home. I can see inside you, remember? You know this place inside out, so do I.

I was so surprised by these words that I stumbled. Immediately she pulled me back to my feet. Before I knew it we were out in the open. I should have guessed.

Ty and Ezekiel were already waiting there. My brother with a grin on his face, which, however, did not show any amusement. It was more like he saw the situation as the perfect opportunity. We ran towards him and Nyria grabbed his wrist too.

"Do not even think about it. Get out of here! ”She hissed and dragged him along. Ty followed us and it wasn't even fifteen minutes before Nyria was lying in bed next to me.

"Damn it, that messes everything up!"

While Ezekiel cursed, he paced up and down the room. Ty watched him do it. Ezekiel suppressed the urge to hit something. If Nereus had ordered Ty to kidnap Nyria, he could give the demon further orders that could lead to doom.

"We have to come up with something.", Ty spoke up. "I don't know what his next orders will be."

The fallen man let out a puff. As if he didn't know himself!

"Seems like we need to bring the fight forward," he growled.

"Ty.", It suddenly sounded from the door. "Go and ask Fare if she and the others would stay out of a fight between Nereus and us."

It was Zayn, who was leaning in the door frame with his arms crossed and saying these words. Ty asked no questions and nodded.

"Sure," he said before disappearing. Ezekiel stared at his brother. 

"How is she doing?"

“She is exhausted. But who's any wonder, she kicked four angels in the ass. ", Zayn replied and joined his brother. Ezekiel raised his eyebrows. 

"Four angels? Are you sure?"

Zayn nodded and collapsed on the sofa. Neither of them said anything; they were both silent for a full quarter of an hour.

“We absolutely have to come up with something. If Nereus has Nyria kidnapped ... and that by Ty too ... "

Ezekiel noticed that his brother could no longer form reasonable sentences because of his worry. He sat down next to him and patted him a few times on the shoulder. 

“If our brothers stay out of it, the three of us have a good chance against Nereus. If not, we must get advice from Lucifer. "

Zayn buried his face in his hands.

“I don't want anything to happen to her. I would like to keep her out of everything, but with her we have a much better chance than without her, "he growled hoarsely. Ezekiel smiled weakly, even if it was anything but cheerful. 

“Your wife is strong, brother. And I do believe that she is capable of changing everything. We don't have to talk to our brothers, we also know that almost all of them are on their side. Did you notice how fascinated you are with her? "

Vaher looked up grimly.

“Of course I noticed! Even Lucifer took a liking to her and that should mean something! "

"Brother, look at me.", Ezekiel said softly, whereupon Zayn's eyes actually fixed on him.

“You are the only one who can protect this woman. And do you know why? Because you love her, Zayn. Only because of that!"

Vaher's pupils dilated.

"Babe? Come to bed..."

The sleepy woman's voice immediately made Zayn's attention. Nyria stood in the hallway, wearily rubbing her eyes.

"I'm coming, little one," he breathed and turned to Ezekiel again.

"Wake me up when Ty shows up again."

His brother nodded.

Fare looked closely at Ty when he suddenly stood in front of her.

"Is Nereus around?" He whispered, causing the woman to shake her head.

"Well. Then I'll call you to a conference. "

The archangel grimaced in surprise.

“I don't know what you're up to, but I'll let the others know. See you soon. ", She said and was already gone. Only a few minutes later, Ty was standing in front of all of the archangels in their seats. Everyone was there. Everyone except Nereus.

“It does not usually happen that an unimportant angel calls to a conference. So what do you want? ”Chest growled. Ty swallowed, then squared his shoulders. 

“I know you all have nothing against Nyria. So why do you let Nereus play these games? "

Chest sighed and exchanged a quick look with Fare.

“Everyone knows what enemy you have with Nereus. We all know how devious he can be and how sly he is. If you take it exactly, he was our enemy so far, only we did nothing. Now say what you want. ", He explained now. Ty rubbed his temples. 

“Suppose someone were to fight Nereus, what would you do? Would you take their side and fight him? Or would you stay out of it and just leave your brother to his fate? "

The archangels exchanged glances.

"It probably depends on those who would fight it," began Fare on behalf of everyone. Chest continued.

“Say, if Lucifer would fight we would defend our brother. Likewise if Ezekiel started a fight. With other people, the circumstances would probably be different. What are you getting at, Ty? "

The demon decided to put the cards on the table.

“Nyria, Vaher and also Ezekiel want to fight Nereus. Together. And they hope you guys stay out of it. Or support them, either. They want to clarify everything in peace with each other, but thanks to Nereus that is not possible. "

Some of the angels gasped audibly.

"You want to see him dead ...", Fare mumbled and slowly she realized what a dilemma they really were in. Someone would die. But it was still unclear who.

Zayn lifted me onto his back and then looked over his shoulder at me.

“You're exhausted, honey. So why aren't you sleeping? ”He said softly. He carried me towards the bedroom. 

"I would prefer you to lie next to me," I mumbled and closed my eyes. At the moment I just wanted to have him with me and feel his closeness. The fear of being torn from his arms was too great. 

"You're scared.", Zayn said suddenly. We were in the bedroom by now, so he put me down on my feet again. Did he look inside me to be able to say that? 

"Yes." I answered now and looked up at him.

"We can do it," he whispered and kissed the top of my head. I wrapped my arms around him and enjoyed the warmth he radiated. 

"Let's sleep." I breathed and pulled him to the bed. A few minutes later, I snuggled up against him and closed my eyes. I started thinking. If Nereus had me kidnapped, then we had to expect far worse things. What should we do now? Zayn apparently felt my inner restlessness because he nudged me.  

"Sleep now," he growled. I obeyed.
