MJ

THE SMELL OF PANCAKE and coffee tickles my nostrils, forcing my eyes open. I groggily sit up on my bed but suddenly feeling my stomach turn at the sight of her in my kitchen.

Shit!

“Morning,” she greets me, walking carefully as she brings a tray of food towards me.

“You’re not Bella,” I stupidly remark.

I see a hint of pain in her eyes at the mere mention of the name.

Uh, yes. You were just drunk, MJ. Not having an amnesia.”

Well that’s an incorrect logic though since I can’t really remember anything.

“Here,” she says, putting the tray on my bed side table. “I don’t really know what’s your preference so I just made that simple breakfast. I have also washed your clothes and the mattresses that were filled of your puke—”

“Wait, how long have you been here?” I ask, feeling more confused as I feel my head throbbing with pain. Damn, what did I do last night?

“Bella called me up. She was furious so I drove here in the middle of the night. I haven’t been sleeping ever since.”

Shit. Shit. Uh, err—so you mean…”

“Yes. I was the one who took good care of you while you were swimming in your puke.”

Geez. Damn you, Bella.

“So, uh…I guess I have to say ‘Thank you then,” I reply.

Alexis looks at me, clearly wanting to say something but decides to choke it back to herself. “Please eat that. And take a warm bath after.”

She goes to her bag and hands me my Naruto shirt. “I’ve washed that already. Thank you for saving me that night.”

Swinging her bag, she takes a step to head for the door. I suddenly have the urge to stop her.

“Leaving already?” I ask, sounding so confused.

Alexis stops in her tracks. “It’s clear that you don’t want me here, you said so last night.”

Geez, what did I say? “I—I was drunk—”

“People don’t lie when they’re drunk.”

Hearing that, I hastily stand up, trying my best to properly walk without swaying from side to side.

“I can’t remember anything but if it’s that bad, just forget it, please.”

She turns to face me, her watery eyes look at me with sadness.

“D-do you want me to stay, MJ?”

I was sure yesterday that I want her out of my system. But seeing her here, in flesh, I don’t even want to think about it.

“I—I do. Please, just stay with me,” I reply, drawing her into a hug.

The silence is gnawing me to the core. Shit. This is so fucked up.

And then I hear her giggling after sometime, and I feel relieved.

“Go and eat your breakfast, then take a bath. You smell like shit,” she says, pulling away from the hug.

I grin at her and playfully ruffles her hair. “You look pretty, by the way.”

She snorts, rolls her eyes, and props herself on my bed. “Of course,” she replies with a sassy tone.

Well I guess, Alexis. It’s never really over.
