Chapter IX: Caring King

Narrator’s POV

The next day, King Alaric, Queen Beatrice, Prince Neil, and Livie went out and had a picnic outside the palace. They were happily eating and talking.

"Wow, I think it's about to rain any minute now," Livie said

"Yeah, let's not worry about that, Livie. So Beatrice, what is your first impression of Alaric?”

“Uhm, I thought my husband to be is tall, older than me, and matured, but when I saw him in person, he is different from what I expected”

"Just what I thought. What about you, Alaric?"

"Beatrice is beautiful and brave. I did not expect her to be older than me for five years,"

They talked about random topics. When they were talking, it rained hard.

"It's raining, we should go inside," Livie said

“No Livie, let's play in the rain,” Queen Beatrice said

They played in the rain and were are having fun. They had the time of their lives, not minding their work. After playing, they head inside and dried themselves. It was an unforgettable experience for them.

King Alaric’s POV

When I woke up, Beatrice is still sleeping. I kissed her forehead. It’s a habit when I wake up every morning. When I touched her forehead, it’s hot. I panicked and called Livie.

“Livie? Where are you?” calling Livie while running

"What's wrong, your highness?"

"What's wrong, Alaric?" Neil said

"Call the royal physician, Beatrice has a fever,"

"Maybe because we played in the rain yesterday," Neil said

"That's what I thought. I will not work today. I will stay by Beatrice's side,"

"Very well your highness,"

The royal physician was called and went to check on Beatrice.

"It's just a fever, your highness. For now, let Queen Beatrice take a rest. She already drank her medicine,"

"Thank you so much,"

"You're welcome your highness, I will take my leave,"

Queen Beatrice’s POV

When I woke up, my head hurts, and I have a fever, but I'm ok now. I saw Alaric at my side sleeping peacefully and holding my hand. I touched his face. Livie entered the room with Neil.

"He's been with you all this time. When he found out that you were sick, he panicked and called the royal physician. He did not work today, because King Alaric wants to be by your side,"

"He did? Now that's a new one,"

“How are you feeling, your highness?”

"I feel better now, thank you,"

"That's a relief,"

"Get some rest, Beatrice," Neil said.

“Ok”

Livie and Neil left the room.

Alaric woke up after that.

“Beatrice, you’re awake. Are you feeling better now?”

"I'm fine now, just a headache. Thank you, Alaric, for staying by my side today. Livie said that you refused to work,"

"Yes, after I found out that you are sick,"

"You don't have to Alaric,"

"I have to Beatrice because I was worried,"

"I love that caring side of you, Alaric, thank you," I said while holding the hands of Alaric.

The next day, Neil is leaving and return to his palace. I’m thankful for Neil because the palace is lively because he is a bubbly person. I’m going to miss him.

Unknown POV

Who could that be? Is it another trial for Alaric and Beatrice?
