Chapter X: Sudden Trip

Queen Beatrice’s POV

It's been a month, and Alaric and I's schedule are hectic. Meeting other people, going to parties, and now, we are meeting lots of guests in the palace. What can I expect from a royal's duty? I am so tired and exhausted. I bet Alaric and Livie too.

"It's been a hectic month for us," Livie said

"Tell me about it,"

“What can we do, it’s our duty after all. Let’s go on a trip after our schedule is done Beatrice, what do you say?”

I was shocked to hear that from him. Lately, he's been thoughtful and kind to me. Sometimes we argue like a child, but it's ok because we would forgive each other. I admit that I like him, but love? I'm not sure yet. Let me think about that.

"I would love to go with you,"

"Your highness, let us not think about that now," Livie said

"We understand,"

After meeting lots of guests, Alaric and I felt so tired and went to sleep. We go straight to bed and sleep immediately.

The next day, I was outside the palace. Suddenly a maid approached me.

"Queen Beatrice, there's a letter for you,"

"Thank you, you may go now,"

When I opened the letter, it’s from my place. When I read it, I was stunned and felt down. I cannot tell Alaric about this because we have lots of duties to do, and it's selfish of me to say that to him.

King Alaric’s POV

This morning, I noticed that Beatrice is acting different, it's like she is thinking about something so deep and her eyes are not that lively like the usual. I went to our room, and she is there.

"Beatrice? Is there something going on? What are you thinking? Tell me what the matter is"

"I got a letter from Terabithia,"

"Let me read it,"

I read the letter, and I was shocked.

"My grandpa is sick, and he wants to see me. I also want to see him. I miss him so much. I'm worried because he is old,"

"We will go to your place,"

"But Alaric, we have an appointment to go today,"

“No, buts, we will go now. Livie?”

“Yes, your highness?”

"Cancel all our schedules. Beatrice's grandpa is sick and wants to see her,"

"Very well your highness,"

“But, Alaric, you don’t have to come with me, you have duties here. I can go there on my own”

"I will not allow you to be on your own Beatrice. Besides, I want to go there and meet your family. I have this person who will handle the palace for a while,"

“Ok”

Narrator’s POV

They set sail after that. It will take five days to arrive at Terabithia.

That night, Queen Beatrice went outside and stared at the sky. King Alaric approached her.

"It's a sudden and unplanned trip for us,"

“Uhum”

“Why didn’t you tell me immediately?”

"It's just, we are so busy and had a lot to do. I don't want to include and cause lots of trouble for you,"

"Don't be like that, you are free to tell me everything, and that includes your problems. I'm your husband, after all. Don't keep it to yourself, ok? It's our fight together, remember?

“Ok Alaric”

Queen Beatrice was stunned to hear that from King Alaric.

"From now on, I will tell you immediately,"

King Alaric is staring at Queen Beatrice intensely. Suddenly, King Alaric kissed Queen Beatrice’s forehead and hugged her.

“Alaric?”

"To help comfort you. I don't know how to, so I thought of that. I cannot see you in that face because I'm used to the lively you,"

Queen Beatrice also hugged him tightly.

"Thank you so much, Alaric,"

Such a sweet scene to end the chapter.
