Chapter XX: Festival

Narrator’s POV

Today is the festival. Lots of people gathered in the center of town. You can see people playing, dancing, and eating. King Alaric, Queen Beatrice, Butler Livie, and some royal guards went to town to witness the festival.

"Everyone, it's King Alaric and Queen Beatrice," the people said.

They all went to King Alaric and Queen Beatrice.

"Good morning, your highness,"

"Good morning everyone, please enjoy the festival. As a token of appreciation for your hard work for this festival, Queen Beatrice will sing for you,"

Queen Beatrice sing a song for them. They were all captivated by Queen Beatrice’s voice, as expected from her. When Queen Beatrice is done fishing, all the people who watched her sing, clapped their hands.

"Thank you. You may all enjoy the festival,"

The people went to their designated destinations.

"Can we have fun now and enjoy the festival, Livie?”

"Ok, your highness, but the royal guards will come with you,"

"Sure, no problem,"

"Let's go, Alaric,"

Queen Beatrice dragged King Alaric. Queen Beatrice stopped at a stall. It is a game that she liked, and the prize is a teddy bear. Queen Beatrice wanted to get the prize, that's why she tried to win the game. In the end, she got the prize that she wanted. The royal guards carried the teddy bear.

Queen Beatrice and King Alaric went to play lots of games. They had lots of fun. They also danced along with people to some festival songs. After dancing, they roamed around town. When they were roaming around, they heard a kid crying. They went to where the crying sound is. When they saw the kid, he is also being bullied by three kids.

“Hey, why are you bullying him?”

"It's Queen Beatrice and King Alaric. Let's make a run for it,"

"Hey stop,"

"Let them be, Alaric,"

Queen Beatrice and King Alaric approached the kid.

“Queen Beatrice and King Alaric”

"Are you all right?"

“Yes, your highness. Thank you”

“Here, take these”

Queen Beatrice gave him snacks that she get from winning in a game.

"Thank you, your highness,"

"No problem,"

"Enjoy the festival," King Alaric said.

"Ok, your highness,"

“Can we go to the orphanage now, Alaric?”

"Ok, let's go,"

“Yehey, I can't wait to see the kids,"

Queen Beatrice’s POV

Alaric and I are headed to the orphanage. I can't wait to see the kids. I have a surprise for them. When we arrived, I was shocked because when the kids saw Alaric and me, they all ran and greeted us.

“Hello Queen Beatrice and King Alaric”

“Hi, how are you?”

"We are fine, your highness,"

“Glad to hear that. It's been a long time since I've been here,"

"Were glad that you came back,'

"We also have something for you," Alaric said.

Alaric called the guards because they are the ones who carried our surprise.

"Tada. We are giving you lots of storybooks for you to read,"

"Wow, thank you, King Alaric and Queen Beatrice,"

“Do you want me to read you a story?”

"Yes please,"

"Ok, gather around everyone,"

All the kids gathered in front of me, and I started to read.

King Alaric’s POV

I had fun today. I'm glad that all the people are enjoying the festival. Beatrice and I are in the orphanage right now. The kids are excited about seeing us, and they are also happy because we gave them lots of storybooks. Beatrice is currently reading them a story. I observed Beatrice reading them a book. I bet she loves kids. When Beatrice is done reading them a story, the kids were called because it's time for lunch.

“Are you going to take your lunch here, your highness?”

"Yes, we bought our lunch with us,"

“Yehey”

We take our lunch together with the kids and also the royal guards who guarded us today. We ate happily.

When we are done eating, the kids dragged us to play outside.

"Play with us, your highness,"

"Ok, ok. We will play with you,"

We were playing with the kids. I'm happy that they are also happy. I can relate to them because they have no parents, and some of them are being abandoned when they are still a newborn. I also observed Beatrice, she is also playing with the kids. I went to her because she is now alone and observing the kids playing.

“Beatrice”

“Alaric”

"I see that you are having fun,"

“Yup, and you are too”

“I observed that you love kids. Am I right?”

"Yes, you are right. I love kids,"

"Do you want to have kids, Beatrice?"

"Yup, maybe ten years from now?"

"10 years from now, that means your 28, and I'm 23 years old,"

“Yup, it’s the right age to have one. What am I saying? I feel embarrassed. It’s early to talk about the future”

"Nothing to be embarrassed about Beatrice. Ten years from now is ok for me. Let's just live in the moment for now. That can wait,"

“Uhum, let’s enjoy us for now,"

After we chatted about that, we get back playing with the kids. After how many hours, it’s getting dark, so we need to get back to the palace because we need to prepare the fireworks for the fireworks display later. We bid our goodbyes to the kids.

"We need to get back now. We will go back here when we have time,"

"Ok, your highness,"

"There will be a fireworks display later, so you need to witness it ok,?"  Beatrice said.

"Wow, we love fireworks displays,"

"Ok. We will be going now. See you soon,"

"See you soon, your highness,"

Beatrice and I went back to the palace. When we arrive at the palace, we take our dinner and went to the top of the palace to prepare for the fireworks display later.

Narrator’s POV

The royal guards and Butler Livie prepared the fireworks. King Alaric and Queen Beatrice observed them. After some time, the preparation is ready.

"Your highness, the fireworks are done setting up,"

"Ok, let us wait for an hour because this is the last part of the festival,"

One hour later. The fireworks display is about to start. The guards light up the fireworks, and sparks flew up and explode, creating fireworks. The people were amazed to see it. At the orphanage, the kids also witnessed the fireworks display, and they were also amazed.

Queen Beatrice’s POV

The fireworks display was amazing. I’m glad because the festival was a success. I was busy looking at the fireworks display when suddenly, someone hugged me from the back.

“Alaric”

"Let's stay like this for a while,"

"I'm happy that the festival is a success,"

"Yup, I'm happy too,"

We stayed like that for a while. Suddenly, Alaric turned me around, and I am now facing him.

“Can you squat and adjust like my height?”

“Ok”

I adjusted my height, and I am now like his height. He suddenly kissed my forehead.

“What was that all about?”

"It's a thank-you kiss. Thank you for helping me with my work Beatrice,"

"No problem. I'm your queen. I have to help you and be by your side at all times,"

We locked eyes, and our face is now inches apart. I saw Alaric eyeing my lips, and I know what's going to happen next. I closed my eyes and allowed him to kiss me. When our lips collided, I felt butterflies in my stomach. We kissed passionately with the fireworks as our background.

We smiled after we shared a kiss, and we looked at our side, and we saw the maids, royal guards, and Livie. They were all smiling at us. Alaric and I felt embarrassed and smiled at them awkwardly. We went back looking at the fireworks display while holding hands.

The festival was a success.

Another unforgettable moment for the king and queen.
