Chapter XXVI: Surprised

Narrator’s POV

Today, Queen Beatrice will surprise King Alaric about her pregnancy. Yesterday, Queen Beatrice planned on putting the pregnancy result in a box. She will give it to King Alaric and surprise him.

King Alaric woke up early and went to his office.

Queen Beatrice’s POV

Alaric woke up early and went to his office. I am still here in our room. I feel nauseous again, but I can manage. I got the box with the pregnancy result in it and went to the kitchen. I bet Alaric did not yet take his breakfast, so I will also eat with him at the office. And after we finish eating, I will give him the box and surprise him.

When I arrive in the kitchen, I saw Julia.

"Good morning, Julia,"

“Good morning, Queen Beatrice. Do you want to eat breakfast now?”

"Yes, please, but can you also serve Alaric's? He hasn’t eaten breakfast yet. I want to eat with him at the office. Can you bring our breakfast to his office?”

"Sure your highness,"

"Thank you,"

"May I ask, Queen Beatrice, what is inside that box you are holding?"

"Oh this, it's a secret,"

“Ok”

I went to Alaric’s office. Julia is still preparing our breakfast. When I arrive at his office, he is still working seriously.

"Good morning, my king,"

"Good morning, my queen,"

"Queen Beatrice, here is your breakfast," Julia said while putting the breakfast at the table.

"Thank you, Julia,"

Julia bowed and left the office.

“Are you feeling ok now, Beatrice?”

“Uhum. Let's eat our breakfast, Alaric. I know you haven't eaten yet,"

"Ok. I'm starving,"

We ate our breakfast. After eating, I put the box at the table.

“What is inside that box, Beatrice?”

"Open it. Find out for yourself,"

"Oh, I'm curious now,"

King Alaric’s POV

I woke up early and went to my office because I needed to finish my paperwork yesterday. Suddenly, Beatrice arrived and wants to eat breakfast together. Come to think of it, I haven't eaten my breakfast yet, and I am now starving. After eating our breakfast, Beatrice put a box on the table. I wonder what's inside of it. Beatrice said to open it. When I opened it, I was shocked because it's a pregnancy result saying, Beatrice is three weeks pregnant.

“Are you serious, Beatrice?”

"Yes, Alaric. I went to the royal physician yesterday and took some tests, and that is the result. I am three weeks pregnant, Alaric,"

"I feel mixed emotions right now,"

"Me too when I found out about the result. I figured it out myself yesterday because this past few weeks, I feel nauseous and the doctor said that it's morning sickness and is normal if you are pregnant,"

"But you did not approach me at my office that you need to go to the clinic. I can accompany you there,"

"No need, Alaric because I want to surprise you,"

"I will be by your side all the time from now on,"

"Ok, you are an overprotective king after all,"

“Of course, that’s my goal. To be taller than you to protect you,"

"Ok, ok. I will not argue with that,"

I went to Beatrice and caressed her stomach.

"It's still a blood Alaric, but it will grow in a few months, and we will know what the gender of the baby is"

“Ok”

I kissed her stomach and her forehead.

“Can we tell all the people in the palace about it?”

“Sure”

We went down and told the big news to the people in the palace.

"Everyone, may I have your attention, please?"

Everyone gathered in front of us.

"I have an important announcement to say,"

“What is it, your highness?”

Beatrice and I looked at each other, and I hold her hand.

"I am three weeks pregnant, everyone," Beatrice said.

Narrator’s POV

When Queen Beatrice announced that she is pregnant, all the people were speechless and had a shocked expression. Suddenly, they all shout and say congratulations to them.

“Congratulations King Alaric and Queen Beatrice”

"You are going to be parents soon,"

"I hope it's a girl,"

"I hope it's a boy,"

"I can't wait for the royal baby to be born,"

The people working in the palace said.

King Alaric and Queen Beatrice are happy.

Queen Beatrice wrote a letter to Terabithia to say the good news. After she wrote the letter, she gave it to Butler Livie and told him to deliver it to Terabithia.

King Alaric and the people working in the palace are surprised by Queen Beatrice’s good news.

They are going to be parents soon.

What will be the gender of the baby? Is it a boy or a girl?
