CHAPTER - 20 Millie makes dinner for Dina

“Yes! Look, I already sent my best trackers to find out about Tina. Moreover, Dina would be going to her grandmother’s house sooner. So, all we need to do is stick around them and enjoy our lives. Don’t you already know the rules of our society? 

We should never interfere with the twin’s life and let them make their own fate. All we need to do is make sure that nothing life-threatening happens to them. Right now is the only opportunity for us to enjoy our life without Aran’s interfere. so, what do you say?” Benjamin asked Mike.

“Still, Mom…” Mike hesitated.

“Do not worry. I will take care of everything. I have even put a spy next to your mother. The spy will keep on informing me about Aran’s location. Tonight is our night, my son. Our Night!” Benjamin proclaimed.

“If mom knows about this then we both are going to die.” Mike declared.

“Who is going to inform her? I am not going to say anything to her. Will you?” Benjamin asked.

Mike shook his head and gave his assurance that he would not tell his mother.

“See if we both don’t tell her then how she will come to know what we did today? Also, Dina’s grandmother must have got her bodyguards along with her. So they will protect her. You are worrying for nothing,” Benjamin patted his shoulders.

“They can only protect her from other humans. But what about the other powerful beings. I still don’t think it is a good idea,” Mike said and sat on the sofa comfortably.

“Alright fine. If you don’t want to go anywhere then let us at least party inside our house.” Benjamin suggested.

“I don’t want to do anything today. Dina is pregnant because of my carelessness and I am nervous because of that. I am going out to find if I can get any clue in the nightclub, the one we visited that day.” Mike said and got up from the sofa.

Hearing the word night club made Benjamin’s eye glow. He stood up and announced,

“Fine, then. I will accompany you to this place. Maybe as you said, we might find some clue there.” 

They both left the house together as Mike knew that it would be of no use even if he rejects his dad. Benjamin will definitely follow him one way or another. So he let him stick along with him.

After Mike left Kara’s house, Millie turned towards Kara and asked, “What does Dina love to eat? If she likes something in particular then I will cook for her. I never did anything for her from the time she was born. Now I want to try my best to do everything that can make her happy.”

“She is not a picky eater and eats anything that I make,” Kara said.

Millie took a deep breath and sighed. Kara looked at the old woman in front of her. She could believe that Millie would be a bad person. Still, she could not understand, why would they leave the baby to suffer alone? She knew that everyone thought that the baby was born dead. 

But when she called to inform them about Dina, why did they not talk to her properly or even pick her calls later. She had lots of questions to ask but she hesitated. She did not want to hurt Millie’s feelings at the same time she needed to make sure that they are good people.

“If you do not want me to cook in your kitchen then I can order the food from outside. I know a very good restaurant nearby. Usually, they take more time to deliver but you can expect high-quality food from there. They don’t add any artificial flavors and all the ingredients they use are always fresh.” Millie suggested, thinking that Kara did not like her idea to cook for her granddaughter, Dina.

“No, no... That won’t be necessary. Dina only likes homemade food and only occasionally would she eat outside food. If you really want to cook then please feel free to use my kitchen. If you want then I can help you with cooking,” Kara shook her hands in front of her and said in a hurry.

She did not want to offend the old lady who is her daughter’s grandmother. Moreover, even though Emma’s parents accepted Dina, they never once came here especially for Dina and cooked any of her favorite meals.

They did not treat her badly but at the same time, they were also not so attached to her. Especially after they came to know about her issues, they tried to stay away from her.

Dina continued to sleep for a long time, the sky had already turned dark. 

When the aroma of the freshly cooked food reached her nose, she sniffed and walked like a Zombie towards the kitchen.

“Mom, what’s so special today? This smells awesome and it is like I am in paradise. Ahhh… The aroma surrounded my body and tied me with an invisible rope. Look at me, it's pulling me towards my mom’s kitchen to taste the dishes that you made… ooooo….zooooooo...woohoo… My feet are not listening to my brain and it keeps pulling me towards the dishes. Mmm… if the smell itself is so good then think how tasty it would be when I eat?” Dina kept on blabbering and walked towards the place where the dishes were kept.

She put her hands in front of her and walked with her closed eyes while making lots of ‘oooo...’ sounds. She also put her tongue out and licked her lips.

“I did not cook today but your grandmother did…” Kara’s voice came from behind her. 

Dina opened her eyes immediately and looked around. It is true, whatever happened a few hours earlier was not in her dreams but in real life.

She stared at Millie who stood with gloves in her hands and tried to pull out the chocolate cake she baked.

“You… You… You are real! Are you really my grandmother?” Dina asked her.

Millie put the cake on the table and said, “Yes, I am.”

“Where were you until now and why did you come here only today?” Dina inquired.

“I… I…” Millie stuttered. 

She did not know how to explain the situation. She looked down and felt her heartache. How could she tell her that they had abandoned her in the hospital? And now she is back because she is the only person who can save them!

“It’s ok! If you cannot explain to me those details, grandma. Come on, Let’s eat. I am super hungry,” Dina exclaimed and dashed towards the dining table.

Kara smiled and finally felt that the blocking in her chest got removed. As Dina became cheerful once again, she was sure that she could handle the situation easily now.

“Wash your hands before you sit down to eat your dinner,” Kara urged her and pushed her towards the washbasin. Then suddenly she pulled Dina and stopped her.

“Be careful. Walk slowly and do not jump around so much,” she warned her as she was worried about the child inside her.

Dina rolled her eyes as she could not understand why her mom said that. Still, she smiled at her mom and walked carefully. She thought maybe the floor was wet and so her mother said that. After dinner, Kara pulled Dina away and stuffed something into her hands.

“Do not ask me any questions. Just go inside and get me your urine samples.” Kara said.

“Ok,” Dina said and walked inside the bathroom.

She squatted on the commode and collected her urine samples. She then washed her hands and left the bottle on the bathroom sink.

“Mom, I left it on the sink. I am going to check on Mike now,” Dina said and rushed out of the house before Kara could stop her.

Kara looked at Millie who sat on the dining chair with anxiety and nervousness.

“I am going to check the pregnancy kit now. I hope whatever I thought must not be the truth,” She said and entered the bathroom.

Millie couldn’t sit on the chair anymore. She stood up and rushed behind Kara. She entered the bathroom and closed the door. Kara wanted to stop Millie but couldn’t. So she let her stand in one corner.

Kara took a syringe and extracted some of the liquid from the bottle. Then she poured a few drops on the kit and waited patiently. The first test result was confusing as it had one proper line and the other one was there but it was very minute to consider as two lines.

“So what is the result?” Millie anxiously asked, holding her chest.

“I am not sure. Let’s test one more time,” Kara said.

This time, she immersed the test kit completely into the liquid. They waited for ten seconds before taking it out. The kit had two lines indicating that Dina is pregnant. 

“What should we do now? What should I do? She is pregnant! No…” Kara leaned against the wall and closed her mouth with one hand.
