Compulsion

It been over a week now and I can tell Shade is really jealous of my necklace. You see this is what I always tell people, don't love for the face alone. Love, love and love is not by mouth alone. Sometimes we need assurance to keep us assured that we are loved. If not, there wouldn't be a need for gift in a relationship, yes? Well... Shade eyes will not leave my necklace and she has been borrowing it to wear since the past few days. Infact, let her keep her Joshua, I want Dele and Dele alone.

Shade and I were gisting about the long day we had when we heard a knock on the door. It was Joshua who had suddenly came unannounced.

"See him head like coconut wey no wan ripe, God save me say I never begin dey show you sign say I love you Sha.". [Displeased to see him]– I thought as he stepped in

He took his sit beside Shade as Shade was wearing the garment of happiness that Joshua had come by.

"Honestly, this girl mumu. Why you come dey happy now? Person come visit you, you dey form madness, oponu oshi!"   [Honestly, this girl is stupid. Why is she happy? Someone came to visit you and you are happy about it unnecessarily. Idiot!] –I thought

"It's nice to see you Joshua. You didn't tell us you were coming by? " – I asked forcing out a smile

"Yeah, I was just coming from seeing a friend around this corner and I thought to say hello to my girl. Infact Shade dress up, let's go have some fun, yeah?" – he said smiling and nodding his head at same time.

"Yeah, yeah, it be a good idea. I mean, I'd love to. No, I mean, we'd love to." –she said looking at me and nodding too

"Nah! I am not going, I am sorry. Dele called some while back and said we'd be going out too. Go have your fun. I am going to wait for Dele and we are going to have our fun too."– I said giving a small smile.

It wasn't long to this time Shade went to the bathroom, got refreshed and was looking as ridiculous even though the dress was one of her best.  I mean, if I am the one to wear that jeans trust me, I'd be the shining star everyone always adores. Joshua is just to blind. Blind!

As soon as they left the hostel, I went outside to confirmed if they have really left and since they were, I placed a call through to Dele. Shouldn't he know he is suppose to take me out as well?

"Hello" – he said calmly

"Don't even hello me. Since all these days you took me out, you didn't call, not even a message. Why can't you just be a gentle man and take me out?"

"Oh" – he muttered

"What's oh? Don't oh me. Don't you like me? Am I not good enough for you?" – I protested

"Not that"– he said gently

"how is it then?" – I asked

"Know what, where do you want to go?" –he asked

"Don't know, just take me anywhere. I just want to see you." – I said

"Okay, let's hook up at captian cook then" – he mentioned

"Okay" – I said as I disconnected the phone.

To be candid, some guys are just too stupid, fools. If you know you don't like me or see me in that manner of a lady why buy me a necklace at first? Does he want Shade to make jest of me? Stupid guy! What am I even trying to do with you? I am sure some guy somewhere is falling for me. Ish dindinrin  [fool]

My mind continued to dance around my thoughts as I keep wondering if he was ever going to ask me out. I took my bath and left for captian cook as earlier planned with Dele. Dele like the last time came late again. Left me hanging for close to thirsty minutes before he could arrive. He looked around again and again. I could easily guess he was looking for me as I continued to wave my hand for him to quickly notice me.

"Where is you car?"– I asked

"Oh! It developed some kinda fault. One of the reasons I came so early" – he chuckled

"Okay then"– I said with a frown face

"Anything the matter? But first what should we order" – he asked

"Anything light, different from the last time" – I answered

He beckoned on one of the waiters and ordered for some pies and ice cream.

"The biggest size" – he affirms

"At your service" – she said. 

"Honestly, I don't know why girls nowadays see bleaching as the major thing to do to look beautiful. Why are they so so shallow minded? They believe if they are dark, they are not beautiful until they peel out that skin and suddenly become that oyinbo [white] before they believe they are beautiful. Just look at this lady, all her face straight to her ankle has become a rainbow with different colours." – he said as he pointed to direction the waiter took before she disappeared completely.

"Dele I am not in for that." – I said calmly

"Oh! Sorry. What's wrong with you?" – he asked

"What's becoming of us?"– I asked calmly

"Us? How do you mean?" – he asked wondering

"Forget it" – I said as I looked to the other side.

"Am sorry. I really don't understand what you are saying, why don't you hit the hammer on the head." – he asked

"I said forget it" – I said.

"Please?" – he pleaded holding my hands which was before lying on the table.

"Okay. I have been wondering. You saw me some weeks ago and wanted to talk to me but I shunned you. Luckily I came back and I demanded for your number because I thought you wanted me. Yeah, you gave me your line and I did call and you took me out, and even bought me a gift on your way here. Now, who does that if they have no intentions of a relationship? And I think I have waited enough. I am asking you now or I am going to walk out that door and we will never have to see again. Do you want me as a girlfriend or I am just a toy you want to play with?" – i explained

He became quiet for so long looking straight down to the grounds. I wondered what he was thinking. Am I not good enough for him? No, that can't be. A whole me, beautiful like the Sun flower. What everyone sees and admires. Could he have a girlfriend? No, that can't be. This one can't already have a girlfriend. Could it be the case?

"Here is your order sir" – the waiter said

"Oh! Thank you. Put it down here, slow and gently." He said giving a small smile.

Is he even smiling? Is he smiling? So I am nothing to him abi? 

I carried my bag from the table and as immediately as I stood up, he held me by my hand, pleading that I stay.

"What do you want with me?" – I asked angrily

"Okay, Cynthia, I will date you."

I continued to frown as I sat down, took one of the pies and began to eat. I can't explain why he continued to smile and shaking his head at same time.

"But, Cynthia, you shouldn't have made it as hard as that." He said

"What? Thats how you guys do. Always wasting someone's time, taking someone for granted and impregnating someone without even formally asking her out. Now, you will say she is worthless and give a run from responsibilities. Please, I am not in for that." – I answered
