Chapter 22~ Misunderstanding

A week passed and there was no word from Morgan, she had not returned to the hostel since then.

Isere spoke to Kelvin daily unlike  before but he told her he was still in the palace and won't be returning soon.

As Ejiro and Isere strolled around the street of campus, Isere couldn't help but stare at the red roses, chocolates and cards displayed by a trader.

Valentine was in four days time and she has always wanted to know how it was to spend Valentine with your boyfriend; not that she had one yet.

She thought of Kelvin, he wasn't returning soon, which means even during Valentine, she might or might not see him, she had planned to get him something, she didn't know if it was necessary but she wanted to give him something.

Ejiro suddenly chuckled at something on her phone shaking Isere off her thought as she wondered what was funny.

"My boo is coming to Ife this Val, I can't believe it!" She exclaimed telling Isere.

"Wow, I will finally meet him oo, at least..." Isere sighed, "You have a boo."

Ejiro turned to look at Isere, she clicked her tongue before speaking, "Is that your problem, you better shake off this stuff from your mind, who the val help self?!"  Ejiro spat out trying to shake the ill feeling off Isere mind.

When they got back to the hostel, Isere decided to ask Ejiro what gift was suitable for a man. "Ji baby, I wanted to ask oo, what gift do you think is suitable for a man this Val?"

Ejiro ears flared up with curiosity as she childishly ran towards Isere, gesturing for her to speak while raising her brows teasingly.

"Katherina!" Ejiro whined clapping her hand, "Is it for prince charming?" She teased.

"Stop na!" Isere blushed.

"Okay oo," Ejiro said. "So who is it for?" She whined.

Isere face palmed herself, "What do you think is suitable o?" She asked. If she told Ejiro, Ejiro would use it against her and tease her and she had no stomach for that.

"How much do you have?" Ejiro asked.

"I don't even have much, but my father sent an extra allowance for me and I'm using it...I don't even know what to get a rich prince self!" She sighed.

"He doesn't care about the price I tell you, as long as it's from you, he'd treasure it," Ejiro assured her.

Isere claps her palm as an interesting ideas came unto her. "I want to give him something he'd always wear and remember me with...so how about a gold wrist watch?" She asked Ejiro.

"That's a brilliant one, and besides, Ekene orders and sell wrist watch from Turkey...let's go and patronize her."

Isere pulled her hoody as she changed into a tube and shorts. Ejiro and Isere made their way to Ekene room. Ekene a well known three hundred level business girl who resided in a self contained apartment off campus.

They knocked and after some seconds, Ekene opened the door. Ekene was a twenty three year old girl in her third year in the university, she was light skinned and short, but extremely pretty and alluring.

"Good afternoon, they greeted her."

Ekene returned their greetings with a smile, they told her they wanted to buy a man wrist watch and if it was available.

"I'm going to collect my good tomorrow because my sis just collected them from Ikeja yesterday and have transported them to Ife today. So by tomorrow, you will see them but I will show you samples."

Isere took a liking to a particular gold wrist watch and asked for the price. "You know men wrist watch are expensive but as long as its original, they don't mind, I can't tell you the price for now because I have not done the arithmetic sorting, but when I do that, I will get the price." She explained.

"But how much should I keep as a budget?" Isere asked.

"I don't know but from ten thousand naira upward." She tells her.

Isere and Ejiro finds their way back to their hostel. Isere needed to see Kelvin, she missed him already and it was killing her to hear his voice.

She dialled his number and he picked up, after they talked and he made her laugh, she asked him if she could see him tomorrow but he said he wasn't sure and he couldn't.

She asked if she could see him next tomorrow and he said he'd try.

Isere and Ejiro went to meet Ekene for the wrist watch the next day, when they got there, Ekene told her the wrist watch was fifteen thousand.

Isere had only ten thousand naira as an extra allowance, how would she get the remaining five thousand naira, she thought to herself.

A brilliant idea came and she decided to lie to her parents that her phone was stolen, so they'd send money for her to get a new phone.

She transferred ten thousand naira to Ekene account and told her, when she paid the balance, she'd collect the wrist watch.

That evening, Isere father sent her a sum of five thousand naira to get the exact phone she was using before or any other button phone. Isere squealed with joy as her plans had worked out well.

Isere dialled Kelvin's number the next day asking if he would be around to meet her today and he told her, he couldn't because he had something to do. Isere got angry, it was as if he was avoiding her which she wasn't sure of.

He was never too busy for her but after their last meet at his house, things changed, her eyes got watery and she wanted nothing else but to let the tears drop down freely.

Isere stayed in her bed all through, it was a thursday, she made no attempt to leave the room until Ejiro begged her to help her get food from finger licking restaurant and bar.

She didn't want to go but because of Ejiro menstrual cramp, she helped her.

As soon as Isere was done paying the cashier for her food, she turned around only for her eyes to meet who she was expecting to see for so long; Kelvin.

He wasn't alone, he was sitting on one of the sit in a table with Wunmi, Jide and and Banji, all laughing to something she knew not of.

He said he wasn't around but here he was with his friends, she wondered how long he's been deceiving her.

Her eyes got watery, her chest tightened, her legs felt numbed and her eyes finally met Kelvin's eyes. He stared at her with shock, he excused himself from the guys and finds his way to Isere.

Isere quickly dashed out of the restaurant, walking really fast so he won't catch up with her but considering his long legs, he held her wrist pulling her back.

She removed her wrist from his hold with force, continuing on her path but Kelvin called her name.

He got a hold of her wrist again, holding it firmly this time. "LET GO OF ME! LET GO OF ME?" She shouted struggling to free her self from his strong grip.

"What's your problem?" He asked.

Isere laughed hysterically, "let go of me!" She spat out.

"Why did you run away that way?" He asked.

"I thought you couldn't come back because you were stucked?!" Isere asked throuhh gritted teeth.

"What are you doing here? Oh I forgot..." She trailed off,  "Wunmi your girlfriend asked you to see her. Obviously I'm such a fool, stupidly falling for your cunny ways and letting you stomp over me!" She removed her hand from his grip.

"You are a fool, a womaniser, a player and a useless prince, I hate you, you hear me?! I hate you. Go back to your Wunmi, she's always around. Everytime it's wunmi this, Wunmi that!" Isere face palmed herself, the tears were about to come out and she won't be weak in from of him.

Kelvin stared at her with confusion, he was about to speak but she cut him off, "Don't you dare?! I'm such a fool, no wonder you always act so different around her, like what did you tell her about me? That I am a stupid girl who you are playing?" Isere scoffed.

"Don't ever come near me and by the way, you could have been honest and I'd stay away, you didn't have to lie about not been able to meet me, a womaniser you are! An idiot, a fool, a player! And you know what..." She trailed off.

"You are a LIER!" She spat out emphasizing on her every word. "Stay away from me, don't ever call me and delete my number because I'm about to do just that!" She spat out and walked away leaving him shocked.

Kelvin was shocked and pained, he didn't know what went wrong and why he had to be insulted so much by her. He was speechless,  trying to understand the situation but he just couldn't. He was hurt, he had gone back to the guys and explained all that happened.
