Chapter 37~ Let the ship sail again

"What?!" Ejiro was shocked, she had to tap her ear to make sure she heard Isere well.

"He...I don't know but he said he needed space and hasn't spoken to me for one week and five days," Isere mummured. She bit her bottom lips, took a step backward and turned around.

Ejiro sighed, she pulled Isere with her as they took a sit on her bed. "What happened?" Ejiro asked. Isere was speechless, she didn't know what to say to her or where to begin from.

"Talk to me," Ejiro ushered and soon Isere started to tell her what went down between Kelvin and herself.

Ejiro sighed as she face palmed herself. "Issy, what you did was wrong and did you try apologising?" Ejiro asked.

"He said he needed space," She muttered.

"Issy, you were wrong. Wrong is the sense that you didn't catch him in the act to conclude easily. I once told you I have an hunch Daniel is cheating on me but since I've never caught him, I don't bring up unnecessary issue knowing well he'd deny and it'd bring up argument between us."

"Issy, I get the point you were jealous and insecure and all that but did you try getting proof first? And that TJ, I wonder why you stay friends with useless people?" Ejiro sighed.

"He is stupid because no one asked his opinion and he caused a rift between you and Kelvin and now you are hurting."

"You don't have to make me feel worse than I am, you know? I felt bad and I tried changing the next day but he wouldn't talk to me!" Isere huffed.

"That's because you invaded his privacy! You don't just go through someone's phone and reply to their chats, it's wrong! How would you feel if he did the same to you? Most times you have to put yourself in that situation first before concluding."

"Relationship is about compromising, most times you are not pleased but because it pleases your partner, you let go and try to satisfy them and he said those words to you because that's how you've always made him feel." The more Ejiro spoke, the more Isere fought to hold the tear from rolling down her cheek.

"All hope is not lost, he cares about you, he was concerned when I told him you were sick."

"He was but he didn't try speaking to me!" Isere retorted.

"And did you try speaking to him?!" Ejiro asked.

"No, he said he needed space and I was scared of what might happen next if I didn't, I am scared he might really breakup with me. I'm struggling to even think most times and I just kept holding on to the words space as a means of hope but deep down I'm scared." Isere cried out.

"Aww..." Ejiro coo'd, she moved closer to Isere and wrapped her arms around her. "It's going to be fine, you just need to rearrange yourself and make things right."

"I promise to change, I won't be a nagging wife anymore!" Isere muttered and Ejiro chuckled.

"But seriously, if a man tells me that I'm so done with him. But..." Ejiro trailed, "If I was in your situation, i wouldn't." Ejiro laughed out loud.

"But I'm imagining your face that moment and it's a really bad thing when a man refers to a woman he is not married to as a nagging wife, it obviously means there might be no future to the relationship but things could change."

"Are you consoling me or biting me?" Isere asked with a frown.

Ejiro shrugged, "All is well dear, all is well."

After washing her clothes on Saturday morning, Isere slept till afternoon. When she woke up in the afternoon, she suddenly craved pizza.

She looked around her purse to see her if she had enough money for it but realised, she was running out of cash, she cried out playfully.

She uploaded on her WhatsApp status; I want to eat pizza!😩

In less than a minute, she got a message, she unlocked her phone to see who sent her a message and was shocked to see it was Kelvin.

During the time they didn't speak to each other, she had changed his name from my heart to Mr Kelvin.

Her heart skipped when she saw his message, she had mixed feelings. She was happy and at the same time unsettled. She didn't feel like replying him but her fingers acted faster than her brain.

She took a deep breath before reading his message.

Mr Kelvin: Let's go get pizza.

Isere: I was just joking.

She didn't know why she told him that she was joking when she was seriously craving pizza. She felt odd chatting with him.

Mr Kelvin: Are you really joking?

Isere: yes I was.

Mr Kelvin: okay, how have you been?

Isere: I have not been doing well.

Mr Kelvin: Are you at the hostel?

Isere: yes I am.

Mr Kelvin: Are you sick or it has to do with your monthly issues?

Isere didn't reply him anymore. She turned off her data and fell on her back on her bed.

She felt odd, she was glad he chatted with her but she was scared too. Was he offering to get her pizza as a mean to officially end their relationship? The thought alone scared her.

After some minutes, her phone rang, she looked at the caller ID who turned out to be Kelvin, she sighed.

She contemplated for some seconds before answering the call.

"Did you run out of data?" Was his first word when she picked his phone call. Her heart sank, she was hurt and angry at herself and at him.

"No, I didn't." Was her simple reply.

"Can we meet up to get pizza, I want to eat pizza," He requested.

"I am..." She trailed off looking for the perfect lie to tell him.

"I am busy, I have some things to do," She hiccuped.

"Are you still at the hostel?" He asked her.

"Yes I am."

"Come outside."

"What should I come outside to do? I am busy." She lamented. She was angry, she knew she had no right to he angry at him but she was. She was hurt he didn't care about her until Ejiro lied that she wasn't fine.

"Please, come outside!" He begged, his voice came out soft and low and she suddenly felt weak.

"Okay." She replied and ended the call.

Isere was shocked to see Kelvin outside of her hostel. Her heart skipped when she saw him, it's been ages, she thought.

Her eyes blinked and she took in a deep breath, she said some consoling words within her before walking towards him.

When she was about four feet apart from him, she stopped walking and folded her arms around her chest.

"What do you want?" She asked, not looking at him and her voice came out in a whisper.

"Is that how you greet now?" He asked her, scrutinizing her.

Isere sighed, " I have something to do and I'd appreciate if you speak on time so I can get back to what I was doing, " She lied.

"Let's go get pizza!" He spoke. "I don't want an excuse, you can go back to what you were doing but right now, I want to be with you." His words made her heart skip.

She suddenly felt the urge to wrap her arms around him, apologise to him and cry on him but she held herself.

She said nothing as he opened the passenger door for her to get in.

While waiting for their order, they devoured their cold stone ice cream.

Isere wasn't comfortable, she had mixed feelings, it was awkward between them. Kelvin strecthed his hands forward and entwined them with Isere's fingers.

Isere felt tingles on her skin when his fingers laced with hers. Has he forgiven her already? Did he want her back? She was nervous.

"How have you been?" He asked her.

"Should I be honest?" She asked not staring at him. She knew if she looked at him, she'd cry and probably embarrass herself.

"Okay." Was his simple and firm reply.

"I haven't been fine," She whispered. "But I guess you were," she mummured.

"Look at me," Kelvin demanded and Isere did. "Do you always have to speak up for others?" He asked her.

Isere was frantic, she didn't understand what he meant, "Speak up for others as how?" She asked him.

"How did you know I was fine?!"
