Chapter 36~ The truth

Kelvin walked into his house, he had spent the night at Jide's. He didn't have enough sleep as his argument with Isere wouldn't let him.

He didn't even want to come across Isere as he didn't want another argument again.

Kelvin noticed the room was quiet as soon as he entered his room. He pulled off his shirt and walked into the bathroom.

After taking his bath, he scanned around to if Isere was still around or she's left already. He strode into the kitchen only to bump into Isere setting the dinner table.

When Isere eyes met his, she smiled although it was wholeheartedly. "Good morning," She greeted.

Kelvin was shocked, was she being possesed or what? He thought.

He thought that way because they had an issue last night and here she was setting the table up for them and greeting him.

He said nothing. "Did you sleep well last night?" She asked him, her voice low.

She felt bad for her attitude and her accusations. His words had hurt her yesterday especially when he referred to her as a nagging wife.

He said nothing and Isere heart sank but she didn't let that stop her from talking, "Food is ready!" She announced but Kelvin acted as if he didn't see her nor hear her.

"Segun," She called his name in a whisper but enough for him to hear.

"I guess that girl must have satisfied you last night, reason you don't even see me standing here," She spat out.

"I was shocked when you didn't accuse me as soon as I walked in, why am I not surprised?" He retorted sarcastically.

Isere was hurt, her eyes got teary but she still didn't stop herself from speaking. "You are mean!"

Kelvin chuckled lightly, "You know you don't have to play the victim when I am the victim here. You hurt me Kate and you didn't know how hard it was for me but you care about yourself alone!" Kelvin spoke with a very pained voice.

"TJ told you all men cheats and I never for once gave you the benefit of doubt and what did you do?" He paused.

"You accused me, you invaded my privacy and replied to my text and do you know who you replied?" He asked rhetorically.

"My cousin from my mother's side. You have always been quick to jump into conclusion and then act like the victim when obviously you are the bully!" His words pierce Isere as the tears she held rolled down her cheek.

She was hurt because his words were true and she hurt him. She wish she didn't act foolish and considered him.

"That wasn't enough, you then refused me from calling her to apologize by acting like a nagging wife, you didn't even listen to yourself; I have always been faithful to you, I always considered you first, I always put you first like I don't even ask about myself because I have to make sure you have it all and what happened in the end?" He clicked his tongue.

"You accused me of cheating on you when I have never given you a benefit of doubt!" He raised his voice and she flinched.

He has never spoken to her this way before and his words sank through directly into her. He was hurt and she was to be blamed.

"I told you before, I don't like TJ but did I for once tell you not to talk to him? I never did that but when you complain about me and another woman, I distance myself just to please you but you are never satisfied! I ignored that considering this was your first relationship and you were still naive but I guess I was wrong! You keep hurting me repeatedly by being selfish!"

Isere kept crying as he spoke words to her, she had hurt him and he was tired of her already. She held unto her fingers and she bowed her head, staring at the tiled kitchen floor.

"I need space for the main time, until you reflect on your action, you need time to think through." His words broke her.

Was he breaking up with her? She didn't even have the courage to ask the meaning of his statement but she knew she really had to reflect on herself.

She nodded her head. "I really need time, I'm drained and I'm hurt and I don't think you understand because you see yourself as the victim always." Those were his last words before he left.

Isere stood on that same spot for some minutes before making her way to get her things and leave. She was going to respect him and give him space for as long as he wished.

She wiped her tears but the tears seems to have no end. She made her way of his house and back to her hostel.

When Kelvin walked into his room, he realised she was gone. He was hurt and he knew his words definitely hurt her but they needed space from each other for the main time.

He picked his phone from the nightstand. The screen was damaged, he changed his shirt and walked out to repair his phone.

It's been one week and five days since Isere and Kelvin last spoke to each other. They still saw each other status but no one said anything to anyone. Isere was hurting badly, she thought he had broken up with her reason he hadn't contacted her again.

She didn't say anything to Ejiro as the second semester exam was approaching and she needed to focus.

She clicked on Kelvin's status only to see he was in a bar with his friends drinking and her heart sank. If they were still together, she'd probably be with him, it seems he was done with her for good but didn't want to use words to end it, she thought.

She decided to  go offline as she couldn't stand the fact it was really over between them.

Isere and Ejiro walked into finger licking bar and restaurant and she spotted a familiar figure instantly, as soon as she saw him, she ran out of the restaurant.

Ejiro followed on her trail, "what happened?" Ejiro asked.

Isere didn't tell her about herself and Kelvin and she didn't have the courage to tell her what went down too. "Can you please go in alone and please avoid talking to Segun," Isere said to her.

"What?!" Ejiro was frantic. She didn't understand why Isere would tell her so.

"What's going on Kate?" Ejiro asked.

"Nothing, just that..." Isere trailed off. "Just please don't even speak to him. Please Ji, I will  explain all later," Isere begged.

"I've heard o, you better tell me or else..." Ejiro warned before going back into the restaurant.

As much as Ejiro wanted to avoid them, her eyes met with Wunmi and Wunmi was quick to call her.

Ejiro sighed as she had failed to do what Isere told her to do. She walked towards their table.

"Good afternoon," She greeted them all.

They all exchanged pleasantries and even asked Ejiro to join them.

"I'm so sorry, I have to hurry back, Isere is unwell," She managed to lie and that got Kelvin's attention.

"She's sick?" He asked with so much concern evident on his tone.

"It's been long I saw her, how long has she been sick?" Wunmi asked.

"It's not really sickness lover boy, " Ejiro chuckled. "It's ladies issue of the month." Ejiro added.

"Oh!" He muttered.

"I have to go for now, take care," Ejiro said to them and walked off.

"Ejiro please I don't want to go in details but..." Isere heaved a sigh, "he broke up with me!"
