Chapter 7: Family Matters

Annalise’s POV

Today is Saturday, and I have a Saturday class. Ace texted me that he can't go to the university because he still has a fever.

When I arrived at the university and entered the classroom, James is already in the classroom. He is early today. James is seated at the back of my seat.

"Good morning, James. You're early today,"

"Good morning, Anna. Yup, because I'm feeling inspired,"

"Oh, I bet it's a girl,"

"You got that right. Thinking about making our relationship official yesterday makes me so hyper,"

“Congrats. Who’s the girl?”

"She is not studying at this university, but she is my childhood best friend,"

"Oh. Good luck with your relationship,"

“Thanks, Anna”

James asked me about Ace, and I said that he has a fever until now, so he is still absent.

After a few minutes, the class starts. My class every Saturday is a half-day, so it's until noon.

When class is over, I prepared to leave the classroom. When I was about to go out of the classroom, someone called me, and it is the girl from yesterday. She is Ace's classmate.

“Uhm. Can you give these printouts to Prince Ace?"

"Ok. By the way, Ace is absent because he has a fever,"

“Ok, I will tell our adviser about Ace's condition,"

“Thanks”

I put the printouts in my bag and head to Ace's condo unit. When I arrive at his condo unit, I rang the doorbell, and he opened the door.

"Come in,"

"Your classmate gave another printout to me,"

"Thank you,"

"No problem. I cooked porridge this morning, and I will just heat it because it's kind of cold now. Can I use your kitchen?"

“Sure. I will just be in my room,"

“Ok”

I use Ace's kitchen and heat the porridge. After heating it. I put it in a bowl and serve it to Ace.

Prince Ace’s POV

I'm now feeling better, but I still have a slight fever. I just stayed in my room all morning. Suddenly the doorbell rang, and when I opened the door, it's Anna. She gave me another printout. I was thankful because she cooked her delicious porridge. Right timing because I didn't eat lunch yet.

Right now, she is in the kitchen, heating the porridge.

“Porridge is ready. Eat up”

"Thank you. Your porridge is delicious,"

“Thank you. I learned it because my mom taught me how to cook it?”

When Anna said about the mom's part, my face got gloomy.

“Did I say something wrong, Ace?”

"No, it's just the mom part,"

“I’m sorry. Did something happened between you and your mom?”

I told Anna about my parents.

My mom left us with another man. I was mad about my mom, leaving us. I was only ten years old when my mom left us. From that day on, it's just my dad and me because I'm just an only child. I think mom left us because of a dad because dad is so busy and workaholic, and he has no time for us. I love my dad even though he has no time for us because I know that he is doing it for the family to live a good life. I love my mom even though she left us. I just hate the fact that she left us. I mean, they can just talk it out. When mom left us, dad started to have time for me. He would go home early and teach me when I have difficulty in studying. Maybe dad realizes his wrongdoings. And that's also the reason why I'm not interested in love.

"I'm sorry,"

"It's ok. I'm relieved that I opened it up to you. James doesn't know about the whole details. All he knows is my mom left us with another man,"

“Oh. I’m happy and thankful that you opened it up in full details to me,"

I finish the bowl of porridge.

"Thank you again for the delicious porridge,"

"No problem. Let's check if you still have a fever,"

Anna put her hand on my forehead, and her face is close to my face. I stared at her face.

"Oh, I'm sorry. My face is too close. You're don't have a fever anymore,"

"Thank you for taking care of me, Anna,"

"Always welcome. I need to wash these and take my leave,"

“Ok”

Anna washed the dishes, and after washing the dishes, she grabs her bag.

"I will be taking my leave now, Ace,"

“Ok”

Anna left my condo unit.
