Chapter 11

Toast- koffee 🎶

The whole week had fast forwarded to Friday and I have only one class today which is general studies but i can as well say I dont,

Since we were informed the lecturer postponed the class to next class.

 

If there's one thing that would surely be the fall of lecturers, it's laziness, criticism and procrastination for sure.

"heyy.." turning to Danielle, as she tapped me

"babe....what's good?" 

"my class was cancelled today...you didnt go for class.?" She questions 

"normal postponing..."

"like I'm pissed at these people..always acting like they're forced to come for classes..i just walked down to faculty just to be told the class has been cancelled.."she lets out bitterly

 

"i know right...so annoying.."i shrug

  

"what are you up to.."

  

"a movie I just got from Priscy's phone...after that id take a nap and figure out some stuffs to do later on.."I emphasise

..she nods..

"I'll just grab some snacks.." she tells me

i nod and plug in my earphone

"Are you going out?" I asked IT, as she was carrying few notes and a text book. 

 "To read" not even bothering to turn to my side.

 

What exactly is with this girl though, one minute lackadaisical, the next cheerful like some sort of bipolar.

"Can i go with you,"

    

For since we resumed classes, I haven't been able to read shit! I guess I'm still adjusting to this new environment. 

 

I attended a boarding school in my last year in high school...so I got used to being more organized, like there was specific time for siesta, prep, lunch, dinner, short break, sports and since we were controlled by our hostel managers...I know it all really shapened my life.

      

But here is so different...I really dont miss home much besides my dad, and all the silly dance moves we made and the weird loud laughters. It feels like it's been a year since i saw him last but then, I actually wanted to study in a college far away from home and see how it goes with mixing up with new people..adapting to new environments ...viewing new cultures and all the adventures that came with it.

  

"You can,"

"Please hold up..I'm already dressed just let me get my books and slippers on"

I tell her and dont cease to notice the slight face she made like I'm barging into her life..I'd just choose to ignore that for all i care..i have nothing to do with that..i know my vision as per why am here and where am headed to

After hurrying up to get done

"okayy..we're good to go.."

she looked up coldly

...we moved

"Night class..huh...so when would you return to the room?" I asked

"Probably by 10pm...you know sometimes i do tdb..." she sneered

"What's that?" I cut in 

she answered resentfully"hmmm.."

c'mon.. I didnt ask to spite her anger, disgust or however she feels

      

"till day break"

      

"Ohh wow" astonished...the last time I remember reading till day break was during my final exams in high school but before then..I'm the kind to actually sleep by latest ten pm and wake up by three am to read till it was time for school. 

 

Yes...,I'm an early bed and early bird.

  

    

We keep on talking and talking and alas we get to this really large structure 

"the place..yea?"

 "Faculty of management science" she responds.

"You didnt resume the week of resumption but instead second week so thats why you're not familiar with night classes, i come here to read with jayy, zana, chris and emeka"

              

"Hmmm" all i say

   

I follow her up the stairs to the second floor and make a right turn into a very wide class room neatly areanged with chairs unlike the lt where you have to struggle to get seats early morning.

    

   

We approach a light skinned, afro cut hair guy with sorts of male bracelets sitting next to jayy and Zana.

 

Jayy was sitting in one of the seats of the front Zana was just directly opposite jayy, and seated behind.

   

"Hey" IT smiling

"IT..what's good," Zana responds and turns to me smiling sheepishly,

"Heyy zana" i smiled with a short wave

"Whatsup?"

"Fine fine...good evening" as my eyes meet jayys'

"Heyyy..renee come have a seat beside me" as he taps on the empty seat between himself and the fair guy

  

Ok now I couldn't refuse this one in as much as I didnt want to sit with him. "Hi,"i say to the fair guy smiling lightly

"Heyy good evening" he responds

"Thats Tony...And Tony, Renee" jayy 

  

He nods to me...this one has an emotionless face like his smile doesnt get to his eyes, so I could refer him to that.

   

 

I take my seat diligently next to jayy..and drop my notes and bag on the desk we shared in this row

Holding my phone...I unlock it and go through my social media accounts.

   

Whatsapp is boring today, I move over to iMessage games and before I get lost, I put my phone to sleep and opened my general studies textbook. This one is bulky.

       

  

Almost an hour, and here I am still trying to focus. I really dont get why it's so hard to study maybe I was uncomfortable or flashing scenes of what happened with Drew at the cinema kept disturbing .

  

I decide to go outside for some fresh air, at least try to breathe before coming in.

  

Outside is peaceful, silence. You think that's weird? Well I dont, I find peace in silence especially when I have a lot going 

on and need to be by myself.
