Chapter 15

Ocean- Hillsong 🎶

"Ughhh" i wake up to the amazing smell of fried chicken that filled up the room.

Scents of spices were in the air...

I rise up in ecstasy as I look down to my bunk to see Danielle and Paulette doing justice to my murder this morning from the smell of chicken stew.

"Good morning girls...that's the knife just kill me rather than punish me this way" i say sacarstically,

     

We all laugh out loud in unison. 

But really, the sentimental memory of Sunday mornings on how we prepared chicken stew and white rice just rose. I really miss that. Nothing can ever beat the nostalgia of family food.

  

"Morning..."i whisper back to Priscy who waves at me delightly as she's on the phone.

 

"Jerry...mind to see my roommate"

She hovers me to come down.

I'm pretty confused...but I get down anyway happy for no reason

   

She turns her phone screen to my face..

"Heyy" I smile to the person on the other end...this is practically a video call.

"Good morning, how are you??" Oh ok now it clicks...Priscy's boyfriend!

"I'm fine...what about you?"

"Fine fine" his voice is sort of deep yet light in a way.

"And how's the environment over there...plus final year projects"i ask curiously 

"Okayy...."he sounds shaky

"But stressful...but norms you know" he adds

"Yea..yeah...I understand" i respond 

 

I really dont have an idea of what final year is like but surely I know how stressful it can be cause comparing it to my year one stress...I can really imagine.

"Yea...."

"Alright then..." as I tap my thigh to get up from Priscy's little bed.

"Take care of yourself" i add

" and you too..."he smiles

As I'm about to turn away...

"Mind if i have your contact?" I'm not sure how to respond to this...

I glance at Priscy with a raised questioning 

brow .

Please save me from this, I beg mentally cause in reality I really dont want to be involved in anybody's relationship or be the cause of any issue...I'm too fragile to be hurt you see..so i just have to abstain from all sorts of unforeseen troubles.

"Of course.."priscy exclaims 

Oh shit!

"Priscy would text it to you" i smile, though distasteful 

"Ok ok"

 

I walk away to the door and take in a good over view of the atmosphere from here.

the bright rays from the sun shone into my eyes...

    

Just then, Violet!

"Heyy" we both hug each other with delight.

 "You not going for service?" She looks at me from head to toe

 "I'm not really sure.. since I'm still new in campus I haven't checked around for fellowships" i answer

 "Well...you can follow me to mine" she says unsure

"Oh really...awwwwn" i wasn't really expecting such an offer from her

"When is the service?"

"10.00am...so I'd be leaving at exactly 9.40am cause we need to board the bus..my church is off campus 

and 10mins distant thereabout.....

You still have an hour plus to get dressed" as she checks her wrist watch

  

I smile and walk up to my bed space to take out my toiletries..undress and wrap myself in my towel then head for the bathroom.

I'm back in maybe ten minutes time, and dry myself up. After applying my blue ives lotion...I spray my axe body spray .

Why do i feel a heated gaze at me? I turn around...i just have to smile

" you're soo entertaining to watch..."Danielle blurts out with a wide grin

"Yeah right?"

"I swear to God"

 

The other girls agree smiling ear to ear

I really cant choke...I burst out laughing and they all join.

  

"What about you guys?...no church?" I ask

"We attend CASOR" paulette answers

Whatever is the full to that..what i know of a certain is,it is a fellowship 

"I and IT will be going to st. Michaels"Priscy answers as she gets up wrapped in her towel to go take her bath.

  

  

I quickly have some Nasco cereals and wipe my mouth with tissue.

Now what to wear??

I'm literally one of the two percent of girls that could have two room sized wardrobes and still feel like i have nothing to wear.

   

    

I unzip my box.. and my sight first behold my black turtle neck top with blue jeans underneath a sundress

  

I take the three out... holding up my turtle neck and sundress in both hands..i turn to Violet

"Which do you prefer..I'm confused"

    

Turning her attention to me...she gives a pale face like it was a rhetorical question 

"Hmmmm...I'm not sure" is all i get

Just wow...when i need people they just have to fuck up.

"Any thing always look good on you renee...like you could be tying a bandana on your chest and a jean underneath and still come out perfect..."Danielle jumps in

"Huhhh..."am i astounded?

"Exactly...she literally looks good without effort" Violet agrees.

"I seee...."nodding my head

   

Weighing both options again...I feel wearing this turtle neck and jean would make me look really smart, the sundress would make me look simple and elegant.

  

But, yes there's a but, this dress is flair and perhaps there's a heavy wind...

" are we going to church by ourselves ?" I ask Violet

"Drew is coming along"she answers turning her attention back to her phone
