Chapter 23

Beamer - Rema 🎶

The distant walk from my hostel to post graduate building is not so long...

I get there on time...

Viewing it from the side of the road doesnt give you the exact insight of how elegant it is...the inside is just as elegant as the outside but more strategic in construction. 

When i reach the reception desk, I inform them that I am looking for mr. Theophilus and they instruct me to go to the top floor, just as he had told me earlier on.

I am now standing in front of the office door and I knock twice,

“Come in”

I unlock the door knob and walk into the office

“And you are?...”

“Renee..”

The man should be in his late sixties, wrinkles have started appearing on his face...he flashes me a warm comforting smile..and I didnt cease to notice he has lost his incisors and am pretty sure some molars are missing...

“Good to see you my dear...”

“Thank you sirr..” i return the smile

“How’s school dealing with you fresher...?” He asks

“Not so bad, just the clearance was hectic..”i tell him as i nod

He laughs

“Mmm...your requirements “ he asks cooly

I hand it over to him at his desk and he goes through it then staple it...

“I’ll go over to the HOD now and see what i can do..”

“Ok sir..”i nod

“You should resume classes in radiography..”

“Really..”i shriek...it is that easy

“Of course...I’ll see what i can do so that your school portal page changes on time..”

“And lastly, make sure to come pick up these documents soon...we’re working on your relocation not transfer...transfer is too long..”

Wow...”thank you sir..” i gush out

“No problem...you may leave now..”

“Thank you sir..” if I open my mouth again..I’m sure a thousand lips would appear all over me thanking him..

I nod and run down the stairs squealing...

I cant believe I 

slept for close to four hours...I decide I have to call my dad and give him feedback on how it went..

I tell him about how mr. Philous has decided to aid my relocation to a new department and how its a better option to transfer...He is beyond happy about it. 

He goes on to tell me about how my sister’s school will be celebrating their tenth anniversary and the parent would be having a get together tonight which was more of a dinner night out and that flashes my memory of Drew...

I hadn’t even taken out time to think through his request. 

He goes on about telling me to not let any guy mess with me and be careful of the kind of friends I make....after listening to his talk, we end the call and my mind drifts to what Drew must be thinking now.

But I feel like he has violet around, why didnt he just ask her...and if I turn him down....

I dont know..I really dont know...I dont 

want to mess with my head on the thoughts of this date thing...

Let me first see if I even have an outfit for it...maybe that would enhance my decision making

I pull out my box, unzip it and dig through the clothes..I’m not sure of what I am looking for just yet but I know I would kill to be comfortable in whatever I choose...

Pulling out a ripped blue jeans, I think I am satisfied with this, now remaining the top...I pull out a white blouse, I ransack the more and pull out a chiffon lemon colored designed long sleeve...and again I pull out a black cotton blouse with a flare short sleeve.

I think i prefer this last top...now over to my footwear...I might just go insane thinking of wearing slippers because I very much want to expose my feet but i just have to put on slippers.

I arrange my clothes back into the box and by the time I’m done it’s already almost six pm....I should text Drew already

I grab my phone from my bed and,

“See you by 7” is on the screen..its a message from drew since an hour ago

I have to hurriedly do my make up and dress up...I apply just little foundation and a touch of eye liner...then do my nude-lip gloss routine...

By the time I’m done, I check my phone one last minute and much to my dismay he hasnt texted again, so im not even sure he’s outside already..

I leave the hostel and walk over to sit on a concrete pavement by the flowers...he still hasnt come around 

Minutes later, he pulls up and hunks.

“Punctual. I love” he says lightly

I hadn’t even noticed I was the early one not until now after checking my phone and its just few minutes to seven..

I climb in the car and watch him stare at me..i look away

 “hey”

“You’re ready yea..?”he asks

“I am” and he drives out of here

Some minutes later, we arrive at the pinktie pizzeria...of course the only aroma here was chicken and all sorts of pizza combos...before I start watering...

I climb out of the car and we can see Jerry sitted with Priscy and I think one other guy beside

We walk inside and over to them, 

“hey guys..”Priscy smiles

Jay is beside jerry and violet is sitted opposite another guy I dont know..jayy’s facial expression is a little disappointing but I don’t care

She wasnt joking when she said it’s a date..I can see a bottle of wine in an iced stainless steel bowl and glasses...the table is well arranged and just as it should be on regular expensive dates they way i have watched them in movies.

The setting is really nice

“Violeeettt..” 

“Heyy girl..wassup with you?”

“Nothing much..just fine” i tell her

“Jerryy..”i wave at him

“Heyy..Renee..you good?”

“Sure i am..”i tell

We all get done with our greetings and go on into our convos..

Drew is seated directly opposite me and is not really saying much today..

“Eat..”i whisper to him in a way no other person can hear

He gets the clue and begins to cut his beef

The fried rice is spicy just the way I like it...soon the pizza is served in three packs with ice tea.

“Err...I’m resuming in my new department by monday..” i tell to no one in particular 

“What?” Priscy looks at me amused

“You’re transferring? When were you planning to let me know..”

“I mean..i was meant to transfer but it seems I’m relocating..so i dont have to finish this session in biochemistry”

I tell them

It’s no news to Drew so he just doesn’t mind... 

“your pendant is beautiful...”jayy cuts in, always a jerk

“Really.!”violet snaps at him

“I’m sorry..I actually just got informed today..so it’s not like i was holding it back on purpose guys” i tell them

“Well then congrats baby” they both give me a side hug at please
