Exactly thirty two meetings later of agreeing with my parents that I wont need to go home for the easter break...Priscy wakes up

“Good morning “

“Hi there..”i reply

“Will you be okay sleeping alone in this room while we’re gone?” 

Oops..she must have eavesdropped on my conversation with my parents over the phone..after the whole back and forth as to why i should go home and me insisting, we agreed I can stay in school for the break...

“I wont be alone..”i giggle

“Oh ok...you’re expecting someone..?”

“Nahh...i think I’ll visit my cousin that stays off campus..”i reply unsure if thats exactly what I’ll be doing..

“Oh great..”

 “When are you packing..”i ask her

“This morning so i’ll be leaving by noon...I’m done packing though..just for me to shove in some belongings “

IT, Danielle and co already left yesterday while we were away..we got their texts but I received it this morning...the whole hostel environment seems to be less noisy than usual, I can already sense the emptiness.

I lock up the room and take the stairs downstairs. 

Getting to the cafeteria I order for pasta and beef with table water. 

I dont fail to notice a guy and his girl I’m sure seated directly opposite in their own space.

They seem to be enjoying their food and his whispering things in her ears which makes her blush. They dont know i 

I wonder what feeling she and himself got from whatever they were into. 

Growing up in baisc school, I always dreamed of getting married to a white man that’s wealthy but as you live life, your ideas of things around begin to change.

“You do know you just put your fork in your bottled water right?” A male voice says

I startle..and he jingle his keys.

Drew.

I look down at what I was doing and realize I was carried away with watching the two love birds. I am definitely a hopeless romantic but yet, dont see myself doing the love thing anytime soon.

I’m just fifteen , besides I have a long way to go academically.

Yes, I know, I always have excuses.

But it just helps me escape from the pressure .

“Hey..” i say

“Obviously, you love love” he says smiling

I dont say anything and just smile warmly

“Ahah..”he says nodding

He picks up my fork and is about to what? 

Steal from my pasta in my presence..i just have to laugh timidly 

“What are you doing guy?”

“Pounding yam..”he responds sacarstically with a mouthful of pasta

“Such a bully” i murmur

“Like you dont love me like that” he murmurs 

I startle again, 

“what did you say?” I ask

“This is the first time I’m tasting pasta from the cafeteria and its not bad” he waves off my question 

Definitely, I didnt miss what he said but to be sure I asked.

“Eat up” he hands the fork over to me

“You can as well order yours if you like it..”

“Bad table manners, dont talk while eating” he cuts me off

“I mean..you..”

“Shhh..” he demonstrates with his index finger on his lips, “eat up”

Fine. 

He won. 

I was just trying to be nice though. 

I look at him speechless, why’s he watching me so closely as i chew.

I better look away, he’s doing the eye thing again. My body feels steamed like his gaze is heating me and I feel quite uncomfortable and nervous. 

I steal a look at him and he’s still looking...like the yellow moon emoji thats how he’s looking at him and I quickly look away. 

Only the heavens know why exactly he enjoys to torture me that way.

“You dont have to think too much” he says

“Pardon?”

“Just drink your water already” he replies

I gasp..I didnt even know I was done with a full plate because my mind was concentrated on him.

“What are you doing?” He asks

“Doing as how? I just finished eating”i tell a little bit confused

“I mean, you’re among the few people left in school..so what do you have in mind?” He rephrases 

“Ohh nothing much..nothing”

He nods.

His attention sways to three guys and a girl walking into the room 

“Dont go anywhere..” as he stands to get up

“I’ll be with you shortly” he says

Why would he expect me to truly wait on him. He must have the slightest trust in me even upon enjoying torturing me with the stupid eyes thing he’s used to. I can leave but every part of me resists my guts, so I just sit still and look around noticing every slight change of matter.

“Baby..” a voice says in my ear and I flinch

At the sight of jayy, I got irritated instantly. 

He takes the seat beside me and his friend follows suite.

“Hey pretty...”

“Hi” i reply to his friend

“AY meet renee my sweetheart, and Renee meet AY, my pal..” jayy introduces

“I’m not your sweetheart and nice to meet you AY..” i smile with a furrowed brow at jayy

“Cheee..i can imagine your attitude at your boyfriend..” i hear AY comment

“It’s not easy man..i deal with it anyways..”jayy chirps in

What the actual fuck?

 “I’m not his girl friend mr. Man and who says you need a boyfriend to put up with your attitude?” 

I’m getting furious by the second passing by....I can feel my face heat up and my neck feels stiff already by just being surrounded by wack minded people.

“Yo pal..” jayy greets Drew with a handshake and they both exchange the guys form of pleasantries..

“Renee..” Drew calls out

“Yes?” I answer and take a drink from my table water

“Let’s go already”

Thank goodness, I stand up from my chair and walk over to where he’s standing.

In all honesty i prefer being around Drew and dying from the eyes thing than this pervert.

“Where to?” Jayy asks

“And good thing it’s none of your business” i snap and Drew pulls me by the hand

I hear jayy’s friend say some things under his breath and Drew cusses at him as we walk away from them.

Drew pulls the door open.

We walk out and I’m beginning to feel a lot better now that I am away from those set of people. Some thing comes to my mind, no matter how tiny a situation is, Drew shows up and i dont know why I feel relaxed by his presence.

He pulls my hand and holds it as he leads the way to his car,

“What are you doing?” I ask

“Hop in” he just replies instantly

I stand there speechless looking at him eye ball to eye ball. My body seems to heat up and I feel intense as there’s sort of electric sparks running down my spine. It’s crazy how just his looks can do wonders to me and I quickly cut it off.

My guts wants to in every way walk out on him but my mouth opens up 

“Hostel is just few minutes walk from here..no need”

“Just hop in” he says 

I shrug. 

Not because I was just going to willingly jump into his car but for the fact that i want to do the opposite of what he’s saying.

He opens the door to the passenger seat and then I get in the car anyway.

He pulls out of the compound...

“So what’s your intention?” I squeak

He chuckles

“Let’s just talk”

“Talk? So now you enjoy my questions?” 

“Maybe i could take you out tomorrow?” He asks

I gasp..”mee..you..?” 

I say pointing to him

“What..yes... I’m not a jerk so it shouldn’t be a big deal” he chuckles 

“Well maybe you’re sort of “ i dont know what to say

“So you agree?”

“To what...?” I ask

“Going out with me..” he replies

“Uhmmm...”i dont know what to say

“Or better still, if you feel oblivious about it then tell me where do you wanna go?” He gushes out

That’s a good one. 

There are many things I want to visit like I actually have a list of what I want to do and they’re sort of classified into primary and secondary..funny yes..I know.

“Counting in one...two...”

“Road trip” i exclaim almost immediately 

He nods with a grin on his face 

I am a bit relieved to have chosen that instead of carrying in mind of how unaware I would be of where he decides to take me

“What time..” he asks

I’m trying to think then he cuts in

 “latest nine in the morning..is that ok?”

“Absolutely..” i smile

Even though he chose six in the morning, it’s still fine by me cause I really dont have whatever I am doing in the hostel. 

I mean not exactly six in the morning , that’s just a joke.

We pull up at the car park of the hostel and i get down

“Tomorrow then..” i smile closing the door

He nods in agreement “night night..”
