Helen stood above the open roof as Miracle's car stopped beside theirs.

'I'd say it time and again, you strike a good pose.' Miracle grinned, pulling out his cellphone to record the moment.

'But I have me a girl here who'd strike better.' He winked at Christina who did the same thing with her friends.

'Kingsley would show you guys how winners do.' She puffed out her tongue.

'Yah, tell them baby girl.' He chuckled.

'No, I have me a winner here and we don't speak losers dictionary.' Deborah smirked.

'I look forward to seeing the disappointment in your faces.' Christina countered.

'Win this race and get a kiss from me.'

That had a loud roar from them.

'I hope to.' Miracle replied with more light in his eyes.

'That's not playing fair.' Helen mumbled.

'Oh I'll show you mine now.' Deborah bent and pecked Stephen on the cheek.

While the others chuckled and cheered, Kingsley glared at his friend who lifted his shoulder in a shrug.

'May the odds be with you.'

They began racing with Stephen before them. Anyone would understand that car racing was his thing. It was easier for her to say so, having witness it once.

'If you're going to drive like shit at least make it worthwhile by driving fast. Your damn mind isn't on the road.' Helen gritted at the absentminded Kingsley.

'Why are we slowing down?' Deborah asked.

'I don't know. The car's malfunctioning.'

Way to malfunction when they were almost at the finish line.

She rolled her eyes, sensing some shenanigans as Miracle's car passed theirs.

They came second. She gritted and stepped out when they all got to a restaurant. She was sure that they would have won it if not for some odd reasons.

'Something smells fishy here.' Helen broke the silence.

'I was so sure Stephen would win.'

'Touche. You had no faith in me?' Kingsley asked.

'With you sulking like a kid who's candy was stolen? No.'

'His candy was.' Miracle muttered.

'Did you let him win?' Helen curiously asked.

'I had that feeling too; said something was wrong with the car and it chose the perfect timing.'

'You girls hurt my feeling.' Miracle pouted.

'They're just jealous they didn't win.' Christina cooed and her friends smirked.

'We're trying to save your ass from some bro code manipulation.'

'Before they poison your mind, the kiss.' Miracle interrupted and tapped his lips.

'I didn't say where so it's your cheek I'm going for.'

'All the stress for just a kiss on the cheek?'

'Do you want the kiss or not?'

'Fine.' He grumbled and as she tried to kiss him, he captured her lips in his. There was a long silence as her palm rested on his chest. His kiss was light and teasing that she held him still to prolong it when they broke off, her eyes fluttered open.

'You taste like strawberry.' She bit her lips and strode inside, leaving him brain dead.

'Awwn. You should kiss me like that.' Kingsley muttered and Helen shoved him.

'Eww. You don't see siblings kissing, that's disgusting. Does platonic mean something else to you?'

He chuckled as his eyes rested on Deborah.

'Not even in your dreams.' She spat and followed her friend.

'My dream contains more.' He smirked, sharing a fist bump with Stephen.

'It was totally worth it bro.'

He pulled over in front of her gate.

'Thanks for the ride and all.' She swung her bag over her shoulder.

'When would you invite me in? Like in never time?'

'Yes never time.' Helen mumbled.

'Ah. I see you're afraid that your parents might just think I'm the guy you're serious with, you know, in igbo land when a girl brings a man back.'

She chuckled and rolled her eyes.

'I'm just sixteen, who'd ever think I'd be interested in marriage now?'

'You'd be surprise.'

'And point of correction, it's just my father.'

'Oh okay. You and daddy against the world. Ahh! The super protective dad now I get your point.' He grinned.

'You're quite lighthearted. It's a different Kingsley. It makes you more adorable and approachable. Deborah's got to see this type.'

'Which kind of Kingsley am I other times?'

'The day Kingsley is stiff, arrogant and not too approachable if you don't know him.'

He nodded.

'Way to evading the topic.'

'You can't come in.' She chuckled and came down.

'Good night.'

She waved as he zoomed off. How could she let him in when the devil of her father was at loose. The devil no one could see. The devil she had not brought herself to tell anyone about, not even her friends. They just knew that he hit her from time to time if only they knew. She opened up the scar she acquired on her left shoulder, gazed at it before walking in.
