CHAPTER 6

The ground premise was full of the candidates who came from every corner of the kingdom. 

"Wooh.....indeed exam will be tough but I will crack it", mumbled Yoon and keep on walking till he reached the examiner's table.

"Show your ID", said the examiner.

"Here".

He checked his idea and then said, "Well sit over there and here is the sheet".

"Thank you", said Yoon with a smile and walked towards his seat. He sat on the ground and opened his ink pot and brushes. He looked around him and smiled.

"Okay so the exam begins. You will be have 1 hour for classical Chinese and 1 hour for literature. Apart from this there will be questions on poetry and astronomy too...", said the exam coordinator with a loud voice. 

"Here are the questions"....., he said.

Everyone started writing. Yoon tried to understand the questions first because the questions weren't easy as he thought....they were difficult. After thinking for 15 minutes he began writing.

"Okay the candidates should stop now.....2 hours are complete", said the coordinator and gestured his fellow examiners to collect the sheets.

Yoon Shik too have his sheets happily and started putting his ink pot and brushes in the wooden box when an examiner said, "were you cheating?"

He looked at him...."no sir".

"Then what's this?", asked the examiner showing him the crumbled paper sheet with answers in it.

"It's not mine", said Yoon.

"What's the commotion there?", asked the chief coordinator.

"Sir this candidate was cheating", said the examiner.

"I didn't", said Yoon loudly.

Everybody looked at him with suspicious eyes and candidates started whispering. 

The chief coordinator came near him and looked at the paper.

"What is your name?", asked the chief coordinator politely.

"I'm Kim Yoon Shik, sir".

The chief coordinator looked at him with a surprising look and then after a pause said, "we will examine after checking the sheets if he had cheated or not".

Suddenly a voice among the candidates said, "a low class will certainly cheat what can we expect from such people".

Hearing such comment everybody started laughing.

"Silent", shouted chief coordinator.

The examiner then told the candidates to leave the exam ground and wait for the result till next day.

All the candidates stood up from the respective seats from the ground and started leaving from there....

"Don't know who threw that paper beside me....", mumbled Yoon. He was walking when a Yangban classmen stopped him and said, "a Sangmin giving exam of civil services. Not bad..... But he should know how lowly he is". His other friends started laughing and smirking at Yoon Shik.

Yoon glared at him and walked away ...

"You've same attitude as you had 9 years ago....low class", said the same person.

Yoon turned back and looked at him with a glare and said, "and you didn't change a bit in those years...."

"How dare you to talk to him like that?", said Chan Sul.

"Don't get angry. We're many levels higher than him where he can't even get even if he take lakhs of birth", said Sung Tae and gave an evil smile to him.

"One birth is enough for me to reach that level..... Who knows you will work under me in this birth", said Yoon Shik with a smile.

"What?"

Suddenly someone threw a punch at him but he caught his hand and pushed him away that he fell on the floor. He then walked away from there.

"Should I go inside or wait here?", mumbled Yoon waiting for his friend Do Yeong.

The guards on the gate didn't allow him to go inside so he waited for long for Yeong outside the entrance.

After long hours waiting Yoon walked away from there.

"What?"

"Yes. I think today was my bad day", said Yoon to Baek.

"I told you we can't win over Yangbans and Chungins....", said Jangmi who just came to the restaurant. 

"Why are you here?", asked Baek gesturing Yoon to give Jangmi a cup of tea.

"There's an order for the translation of scripts. He has given me 10 silver coins and rest will give when work will be completed", said Jangmi looking at Yoon.

"How many scripts?", asked Yoon giving him the tea.

"20 scripts....but time he has given is one week", said Jangmi.

"How much he will give to you?", asked Yoon.

"20 silver coins", said Jangmi with a happy face...."I'll give you 5 only".

"I need 9 silver coins", said Yoon.

"6"

"No 8".

"I'll give you 7 silver coins and 100 cents", said Jangmi.

"No them find someone else", said Yoon.

"Okay...fine....Here 4 silver coins and rest I'll give when you will submit the work", said Jangmi.

"I'll take the scripts and sheets in the evening from your shop", said Yoon and walked away from the shop.

He was walking when he got collided with someone but he caught the person at right time. The girl looked at him who was in guys clothes with a surprise.

"Are you fine?", asked Yoon and helped her in standing straight.

"Yes.....thank.." She looked behind her and saw the guys still following her. She ran away from there as fast as he could. Yoon Shik scratched his hair in disbelief.

"Father where's Hani?", asked Yoon and sat on the wooden bed outside there house with a sweet potato in his hand.

"She has gone to give some medicines to the old lady behind this alley", said his father and sat beside him.

"She's 18 years old. Many of the girls of her age are married in this village", said father.

"Father she's a kid only....", said Yoon while chewing the sweet potato.

"Don't you know last time beautiful girls sometimes are taken to the palace? What if..", said father with a concerning look.

"That will never happen..... She will get married when she will like", said Yoon and gulped the water from the pot beside the bed.

"Father I'm going in the room to test for a while", said Yoon and went inside the room.

"Hh..... That oldie Jangmi always complains about me to my oppa", said Hani while eating dumplings with her friend Bo Ji Hun.

Bo Ji was busy eating dumplings didn't pay heed to her when Hani knocked at her forehead...."ahhh"

"I got it..... But Yoon oppa never get angry on you", said Bo Ji with mouthful dumplings..."Here drink this", said Bo Ji giving her rice wine.

"I can't drink today.... Oppa is waiting for me at the home", said Hani and got up finishing her dumpling plates.

"Aish....this girl", mumbled Bo Ji and also got up.

"Ahjushi keep 10 cents for now...I'll pay the rest", said Hani.

"You have 318 cents to pay me off", said Baek looking at his notepad.

"That much.....", murmured Hani.

"Yes....before Yoon see this pay me off....", said Baek.

"Okay...but don't tell oppa", said Hani.

"I will not", said Baek.

They both came out of the restaurant and started walking. 

"My oppa is returned too", said Bo Ji.

"Then you should go home", said Hani.

"He must be having fun somewhere", said Bo Ji.

"Means?"

"At Kisaeng house....Oppa just go there for fun with them. I hate this", said Bo Ji.

"What does he do there?", asked Hani.

"He just talks with them but he's quite good looking so everyone is head over heels with him there in that house", said Bo Ji.

"Should we do something to him?", asked Hani.

"What can we do?", asked Bo Ji.

"Let's go", said Hani and dragged Bo Ji with her.

"Do you think this will work? What if it fell on someone else?", said Bo Ji with a concerning look.

"Your oppa will never be allowed in Kisaeng house then", said Hani.

"It's smelling too much. If he find about this we will be doomed", said Bo Ji.

"I never get caught....don't you know?", said Hani and carried the smelly waste of cow.

"Where is he?", asked Hani.

"He must be there inside that room", said Bo Ji.

They both stepped on the roof from back side of Kisaeng house. Hani broke the small part of the roof and they both saw that two men are inside that room with a girl.

"They indeed have fun", said Hani.

"He just talks with them", said Bo Ji.

"Who is your brother?", asked Hani.

Bo Ji pointed her finger towards her oppa but Hani saw the wrong person who was quite far from the lady inside the room. She took out more stones from the roof and without noise the hole bigger. Suddenly the stone fell inside the room and his oppa, the other man and the lady got conscious. 

"Someone is listening us", mumbled Sunwo.

"I'll check", said Do Yeong and in the next second the entire waste was over him. 

Bo Ji rolled her eyes big in shock so everyone in the room. 

Sunwo closed his nose and said, "this is dung.......ewwww".

Everyone gathered in that room with the loud noise.

"Run....", said Hani.

"Where?", asked Bo Ji.

Hani helped her and told her to run away from the backyard.

"I'll not leave you", said Bo Ji.

"I'll manage....run before your oppa.."

"He's not....you threw it on his best friend", said Bo Ji.

"What?"

"Yes...."

"Okay....Run now....we will meet later in the morning", said Hani and made her run from the backyard and thought to run away too but the guards caught him. Bo Ji looked and tried helping but Hani gestured her to run before anyone can see her.

"What are you looking at?", asked one of the guards.

"Nothing....just a cat", said Hani. The guards held her tightly and took her inside the house.
