The Rise of a Scholar

All the characters mentioned in this historical story are of my own imagination. It is just a fictional picture out of my mind.

The story is set in Joseon Dyansty where the society is divided into different classes. The uppermost class is Yangban which constitute 10% of the population and involve bureaucrats, ministers etc in the king's court.

Below this lies Chungin class which involve petty bureaucrats, small village administrators etc.

Sangmin section is third class which constitute mainly middle class families involved in agriculture, small business, shop owners, peasants etc.

Like this there is Cheonmin class and Nobi which are the lower most section of people.

KIM YOON SHIK:

The male protagonist who wants to become a Scholar after he saw a renowned scholar in his village. He's from Sangmin class(middle class) who will change his destiny despite of all odds.

LEE EUNSHI:

The Prince whose identity is hidden. He enters Sungkyunwan passing the entrance to excel his skills. He later becomes fast friends with Yoon Shik and others.

DO YEONG:

A close friend of Yoon Shik. He is the son of Park Jangeum who is a head of Justice department in King's court and is from Yangban class( upper class). He is the master of literature and astronomy.

PARK SUNWO:

A friend of Do Yeong who is from Yangban class. He has a brilliant strategic mind. He's the son of Internal affairs minister Park Saeju.

NOH EUNHO:

Daughter of bureaucrat Kim Do Hwan, the upper class man i.e., Yangban. She has a chirpy personality and mostly went around the city in men's clothing.

She's quite famous for her swords skills despite being a woman. She has excellent literary skills.

HANI:

Little sister of Kim Yoon Shik, 2 years younger to him. She has learnt some fighting skills from her brother and learnt medicine from her adopted father.

SUNG TAE:

Son of the prime minister. Initially has conficts with Yoon but later supported him fully.

Good in philosophy and literature.
