CHAPTER 9

"Where were you? What's this wound?", asked Do Yeong.

"Nothing. What happened?", asked Yoon.

"The old hag will come, lecture us and then we will be given rooms", said Sunwo who was standing beside him.

"So a Sangmin has entered the Sungkyunwan....", said a voice and was none other than Sung Tae.

"And a child also entered who kept on telling everyone that he's the son of Prime minister", said Yoon Shik and smirked at him.

"What did you just say?", said Sung Tae with anger and was going to punch him but then the teachers entered the great hall.

Everyone get straight and looked towards the podium.

"So you all are the qualified candidates who are going to be future of this great mighty kingdom. I want to remind you all that here everyone is equal so no class exists here. Every one is judged by their performance here. One more thing the rooms will be alloted according to the chit system so that no groupism can exist. Teamwork is important since a kingdom is built with all the scholars togetherness. 

Marks will be deducted if anyone caught in the act of violence and rule breaking for the respective team which will share the same room", said the teacher.

"Any questions?", asked the other teacher.

"Teacher what if the person caught in act of violence?", asked Sung Tae.

"He will be dismissed from this school and he will be ineligible for future civil services examination", replied the teacher.

Yoon Shik understood he's referring to him.

"Once in a month you can go out for fun..... Apart from this the seniors can give you task which you've to complete without any complain.

Everyone has to get up early and come to morning assembly, who will fail be punished in many ways.

No one is allowed to roam around this school after dinner", said the chief teacher.

"Now everyone will have to take out a slip from this box and the person with same colour slip will be allotted same room", said the head teacher.

The students started taking out the slips and started whispering. "Silence", said head teacher loudly.

"Same colour people just make their respective rows", said the other teacher.

"What? How can you be in my...", said Sung Tae annoyingly.

"Huh....it's good a Yangban has got the privilege to share a room with me", said Yoon Shik with a smile.

"Sung Tae just cool your mind. Yeong and I also with you in that room", said Sunwo.

"Okay Now Ryo Ping will give you your respective room numbers......give the names of your team member to him", said the head teacher and all the teachers walked out of the great hall.

"Do Yeong, Park Sunwo, Sung Tae, Lee Eunshi and Kim Yoon Shik your room is in North side with room number 15", said Ryo Ping. 

They went towards their room except Yoon Shik who has punishment to clean all the rooms and bathrooms.

"Where's Yoon?", asked Yeong.

"He was....", murmured Sunwo and turned behind.

"It's good he's not here", said Sung Tae and laid down on his bed.

Do Yeong walked out of the room to find Yoon Shik. He came across some seniors and greeted them. 

"Yeong do you know where's the Sangmin who entered Sungkyunwan", asked Beong So Chung.

"I don't know", replied Yeong.

"He's allotted same room as yours", said the other senior.

"But he hasn't come yet to the room. Do you have some work with him?", asked Do Yeong.

"He has to show some of his skills to us....Nothing much", said Beong and walked away.

Yoon Shik washed the bathrooms and then went to clean the rooms.

"There are 375 rooms in this school. Do you think you will be able to clean them in a single day?", asked his teacher the old man.

"Teacher. Till evening I can manage to clean at least 50 rooms", said Yoon Shik.

"Where are your other group members?", asked the teacher.

"May be in form", answered Yoon Shik.

"Just clean 50 rooms in this Eastern block", saying this the teacher walked away from there.

"Oppa is alone there", said Hani.

"There will be many who will become his friends", said Bo Ji.

"Ahjushi today you will go there let me come with you as your assistant", said Hani.

"Never", said Jangmi and looked at the new books for the library.

"Ahjushi please.....", said Hani blinking her eyes.

"Okay....okay but you've to work for me then. I mean in selling the books", said Jangmi.

"Of course....", said Hani and hugged him tightly.

"Leave me girl", said Jangmi.

"Where were you?", asked Yeong.

"I was working", said Yoon and looked at his sore hands.

"What work?", asked Sunwo.

"Washing bathrooms and rooms. I was punished because I was late tomorrow morning", said Yoon looking at his hands.

"Come I'll treat your wound", said Yeong and opened the medical box.

"You've injured your hand badly", said Sunwo.

"Ahh...gently", said Yoon to Yeong. 

Suddenly the door opened and Sung Tae came inside with anger in his nose. He glared at Yoon Shik and pointed his sword towards Yoon. 

Yeong got up from the bed and said, "what are you doing? Put it away".

"Ask him what he did", said Do Yeong glaring at Yoon.

"Since the time I came to this room you all are so noisy....especially you both", said Lee Eunshi looking at Sung Tae and Yoon Shik.

"Then leave this room", said Sung Tae.

"What happened?", asked Sunwo.

Suddenly the room door's opened and some seniors came inside. Sung Tae put back his sword..

"Hey you 5 come outside.....seniors are distributing some tasks to all newcomers", said one of the senior and they all walked out.

Sunwo opened his fan and started fanning himself...."it will going to be interesting", said Sunwo looking at Sung Tae and Do Yeong.

"You all will be thinking why we've summoned you all here in this evening", said Beong So.

"Relax it will be fun....it's like building senior junior relation. Toady we seniors will give you some opportunities to show your might, intelligence in front of us. It will help you all in the future too. 

As you can see there is a box over this table so each of you come here and took out your slip. Whatever task is written in the slip you've to fulfil. Those who will be unable to fulfil this will get punishment .. Any questions?", said Gwan Su.

"Senior what will be the punishment?", asked one of the newcomers.

"Good question. He will have to do the chores of a servant", said Beong So.

"It's obvious only one is made for that punishment", said Sung Tae while looking at Yoon.

"You mean Kim Yoon Shik", said Chan Sul and everybody started laughing.

"What if I complete the task?", asked Yoon.

"Nothing....then you will prove us that a Sangmin can be and upperclass", said Sung Tae.

"Be ready then to accept that", said Yoon Shik with a smile.

"Silence. How dare you two to argue in front of us seniors?", said Gwan.

"Sorry senior...", said Yoon Shik.

"Let's start", said Beong So.

"You all will have the time till this midnight to complete the task", said Beong So and rested on the chair.

"What did you get?", asked Sunwo from Yoon.

"I don't know....it says go to the city's most respected woman except the queen and crown princess", said Yoon.

"You mean", said Yeong looking at Sunwo.

"What?", asked Yoon.

"Lady Shin Hye from the Kisaeng house", said Sunwo.

"Who?"

"Lady Shin Hye", said Yeong.

"Ohh....why is this difficult?", asked Yoon.

"Lady Shin can't be seen by people whom she doesn't know. Only a few respected Yangban people can see her", said Yeong.

"I can help", said Sunwo.

"It's fine....I'll do the task", said Yoon and walked away.
