CHAPTER 23

I was lying on my bed and was reading one of the books I was given by Master Adrian. He knew I would be alone after he would be gone. So he left me tons of books. I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I sat up and straightened up my clothes. "Come in." I said and the door opened. Ryan stepped into the room and bowed his head in respect.
"My mistress, I have something to take care of. I am going out. Do you need anything? You can tell me." He asked me and I shook my head.
"I don't need anything. Thank you for asking. Just tell me, when will Master Adrian come back home?" I asked him in a hopeful tone. I expected him to come back soon. But he had been away from me for more than a month.
"My Lord Adrian said it could take time. I am sorry, my mistress. I don't know when he will be back. He did not tell me anything specific about his return." He replied and I sighed in a disappointed way.
"Okay, you can go. Please tell someone to bring me something to eat. I am hungry. In fact, tell them to prepare something. I will eat into the dining hall." I said and he nodded his head.
"As my mistress wishes. I will tell them to prepare something for you fast." He replied and bowed his head. I nodded my head and he stepped out of the room. I lied back down on the bed and continued the book I was reading.
After having my lunch, I started to feel sleepy. So I decided to take a nap. I went back to my room and changed my clothes. I wore the lacy nightie master Adrian had bought for me. As I was ready, I untied my hair and crawled into bed. I was about to lay down when suddenly, the door of my bedroom opened and Melissa stepped into the room.
Even though I hated that bitch but I just could not ask Master Adrian to throw her out. She was not a human like me but she had a sick mother to take care of. I asked her to change the flowers of my room. She gritted her teeth and came towards me. She had a flower bouquet in her hands. I thanked God as she did not try anything stupid. Because Ryan had not come back and Master Adrian was not in the palace either. And Melissa was a bitch to everyone. And because she was Master Hayden's baby, no one was allowed to say a single word to her.
She set the bouquet on the bedside table. I shook my head and closed my eyes. But then I felt her sitting on the bed. I opened my eyes and she slapped me on my face. Melissa then grabbed my hair and pulled them aggressively. "You thought I would not do anything to you. I was just looking for the right moment. Now the time is by my side." She said and in a blink of an eye, she dragged me out of my room and towards the door. She opened the door and pushed me out of the palace.
She kicked me out of the Master's palace. She said I am "the death." That is why I do not deserve to be inside of that castle. I was wearing nothing but a thin lacy nighty that reached my upper thigh. It was barely covering my bottom. It had been long since I was out of the palace. I did not know how long, but long enough that my fingers started to freeze.
The chilly air and falling snow made me think of my end. I was shivering with both the icy cold weather and the horrific darkness outside. I did not know why but I was always afraid of the dark. I even hated black color.
I wrapped my arms around my body to protect myself from the chilly weather. I stood up again and knocked at the door. I did not have any more energy left in my body. "Please, for the love of Lord Adrian Cerberus, open the door. I will freeze to death out here." I begged her to open the door but instead, I heard her laughing like an evil bitch at my misery.
"What are you doing outside of the castle? Did I not tell you to stay inside and not to go out without my permission?" My heart sank in the pit of my stomach as I heard Master Adrian's furious voice again. I started sobbing because I did not know what else to do. It was not my fault. I did not know how to fight an immortal.
"Answer me!" He yelled at me and I jumped in fear. I turned around only to see his angry face and his red glowing eyes.
"It is not my fault. I did as you had ordered me, Master Adrian. Melissa dragged me from my bedroom and pushed me out." I replied to him between my sobs and hiccups.
"She did what? Since how long you have been out here?" He asked me in a worried tone. His face softened a bit as he dropped everything he had in his hands. He quickly stripped off his coat then he quickly covered my almost frozen body with his warm coat. I moaned as the coat covered half of my body.
"I do not know how long it has been. I am starting to feel numb." I replied to him. I suddenly started to feel heavy headed. My head was spinning and my body suddenly felt numb. I fell on the ground but before my head would have hit the ground, the Master grabbed me by my waist. He pulled me up into his arms and carried me bridal style. That was all I saw before the darkness engulfed me.
I opened my eyes again and found myself lying into someone else's bed. It was not even my room. I looked around and found the Master lying beside me. He had one of his arms wrapped around my waist. My heart started jumping inside my rib cage as his breath fanned upon my face. His minty breath awoke a funny feeling inside the pit of my stomach. I was more wrapped around his body. I was hugging his tall and strong body tightly.

EVE'S POV:-I was standing on the balcony of Master Adrian's bedroom. He was still in bed. He did not wake up but I wanted to see the sun set. As I was not a vampire, I was able to see the sun. I always liked to sit into the sunlight and enjoy the warmth it offers to every single living being in this world. To be honest, I have ever prayed not to become a vampire. For me, the sun and its warmth was like a gift. Something I had never gotten into my life.I once had heard that a mother's arms were like the warmth of the sun. And the light of the sun belongs to a father. They lighten up the world of their children so they can grow bigger and stay healthy. For me, I did not have a mother who would protect me from cold and did not even have a father who would lighten up my world. But thank God that he had created the sun for people like me. For me, the sun was both my father and my mother.

MASTER ADRIAN'S POV:-The cart stopped in front of my palace. One of the drivers stepped out and opened the door of the cart for me. I stepped out with my bags in my hands.
