CHAPTER 24

The cart stopped in front of my palace. One of the drivers stepped out and opened the door of the cart for me. I stepped out with my bags in my hands. I just wanted to go back inside. I wanted to lie on my bed and forget about Lissie. Her tears started to make me feel bad. I was not habitual of that feeling. As I went closer towards the door, I heard a whimper. I looked up and found someone sitting at the door. I sighed as I knew someone must have pranked that poor soul.
"Please, for the love of Lord Adrian Cerberus, open the door. I will freeze to death out here." I heard Eve's voice. She was begging to get in. As I reached the door, I noticed that she was in her nightie. She was shivering with the cold. It was way too chilly night for Eve to be outside. Seeing her out, something snapped inside me.
"What are you doing outside of the castle? Did I not tell you to stay inside and not to go out without my permission?" I asked her in an angry tone and she held her breath as always. She did not reply to me. She did not even turn around to look at me. That angered me even more. I gritted my teeth as I did not get anything from her.
"Answer me!" He roared at her angrily and she jumped in fear. Breathing heavily, she turned around and looked at me. She started shivering with fear as she saw my red glowing eyes and angry face.
"It is not my fault. I did as you had ordered me, Master Adrian. Melissa dragged me from my bedroom and pushed me out." She replied between her sobs and hiccups. Hearing her sobbing, I felt bad yelling at her. But her reply made me even angrier.
"She did what? Since how long you have been out here?" I asked her in a worried tone as I dropped everything I had in my hands. I quickly stripped off my coat then I quickly covered her almost frozen body with my coat. She whimpered as the coat covered her body.
"I do not know how long it has been. I am starting to feel numb." She replied to me. Then suddenly, she held her head. Breathing heavily, she was about to fall on the ground but I was faster than her. I caught her before her head would have hit the ground. I grabbed her by her waist. I pulled her up into my arms and carried her bridal style. A small smile was on her lips as she saw me carrying her. After that, she lost consciousness. I could not help but smile at her innocence. I knew she would not ask me why I yelled at her. She would say that it was a mistake and she forgave me. She had a very big heart. Bigger than the territory I had.
I kicked the door twice and heard Melissa laughing hysterically, like it was a joke. I gritted my teeth and was about to break the door when I sensed Ryan around. Without a single word, he came to me and held the door open for me. Melissa tried to shut it at my face but in a blink of an eye, Ryan pinned her with the ground.
"I will deal with you by myself this time." I just said and she went all pale. I signalled Ryan and he dragged her towards the dungeon. I climbed up the stairs and walked towards my bedroom. I opened the door and locked it as I was inside the room. I took her to bed and gently laid her down.
I also laid down on the bed and pulled her closer to me. She inhaled my scent deeply and a cute smile made its way to her pink lips. She wrapped her arms and legs around me and snuggled even closer to me. Her beautiful face made me forget about everything and everyone. I did not even remember why I was this upset.
I did not know how long I kept staring at her. She moved a bit and stretched her arms. She was waking up. I quickly closed my eyes and pretended like I was asleep. I could almost feel her staring at my face and admiring my beauty, as she always has claimed. According to her, I was a thousand times more beautiful than her. She even admired me like I was an angel.
She was about to touch her finger on my face when I grabbed her hand and opened my eyes. She gasped as she saw me wide awake. I smirked mischievously as her cheeks turned pink as roses. "You are being very naughty. I need to teach you a lesson. You have earned a punishment." I said and leaned over her neck. I smiled as I noticed her arching her neck to give me better access.
"Where did you learn this from, Eve?" I asked her and she shook her head.
"From nowhere. It just happened on its own." She replied and I checked. I pecked her forehead and flipped her over. I pinned her with the bed and looked at her. She did not look straight into my eyes. She was shy but not the way I had left her.
"Hmm… my Eve had missed me." I said and pecked her cheek. She nodded her head and tried to peck my cheek and well but I did not let her. She pouted cutely and I laughed out loud. I shook my head at her innocence and laid on top of her. As I let go of her hands, she quickly wrapped her arms around my neck and started massaging my head. I just did not understand but she was my peace. I did not know when but she actually became my everything. Like a wish that is closer to be fulfilled.
Burying my face on the crock of her neck, I closed my eyes. "I am back, Eve. You can sleep now." I said as I knew she was still trying to stay awake. She had missed me more than I had missed her. Maybe, because she was all alone and was waiting for me only while I was not alone at all.

EVE'S POV:-I was standing on the balcony of Master Adrian's bedroom. He was still in bed. He did not wake up but I wanted to see the sun set. As I was not a vampire, I was able to see the sun. I always liked to sit into the sunlight and enjoy the warmth it offers to every single living being in this world. To be honest, I have ever prayed not to become a vampire. For me, the sun and its warmth was like a gift. Something I had never gotten into my life.I once had heard that a mother's arms were like the warmth of the sun. And the light of the sun belongs to a father. They lighten up the world of their children so they can grow bigger and stay healthy. For me, I did not have a mother who would protect me from cold and did not even have a father who would lighten up my world. But thank God that he had created the sun for people like me.
