LOGINGuilt lodged itself in my heart when I realized what I was doing, betraying Clyde and his friends by speaking to their enemy. Even after being warned not to associate with him.
"I'm sorry Chris but I really need to go," I said nervously. "I wish I could tell you why but I can't."
"We haven't even talked for a minute," he insisted. "Why are you in such a hurry to go."
"Please understand," I begged.
"What do you think of me?" He brought his hands to my shoulders. He was so close and that made it worse. Clyde wasn't going to like any of this if Luke told him. "I totally understand. Enjoy your day, angel."
"Bye Chris," I said and he removed his hands. I practically ran towards Ruby and Nina.
"What's the matter?"
"I'm fine. I Just have to get back to the dorm," I smiled,"Try to have fun without me."
I couldn't wait to get to my dorm room. I hurried up the stairs they seemed to have increased on this particular day. On reaching the room, I slammed the door shut and leaned against it. I did that a lot.
I had barely finished my ice cream when I heard a knock. A very loud knock. Wondering if it was Chris I rushed to open it. None of Clyde's friends would see us in my room.
I froze when I saw Clyde at the door. He stepped in and closed the door rather quickly.
"It's you," Was all I said, still surprised. I'd never given him my room number.
"Oh did you wish it was Chris?" He said, looking really intimidating. Sometimes, it was too easy to forget I was a year older.
"What? No" I walked towards him. "I'm just surprised you found my room. I don't remember telling you the room number."
He didn't say anything to that. His green eyes pierced right into my heart. Suddenly, he grabbed the sides of my face and kissed me. It didn't take long for me to kiss him back. My whole body responded immediately, melting into his wonderfully sculptured one. I felt alive and awakened which was what I needed most at the moment. The feeling of his body close to mine made me feel so many things all at once.
After we stopped, the intensity in his eyes was not gone. I stared, wishing to get lost in them while he held me close. I buried my face in his chest while he stroked my back.
"I'm sorry," I said, pulling out of his embrace. I faced him.
"I warned you about Chris but you didn't listen," he told me. "Why are you so naive?"
"He isn't that bad," I said. "I think he's a nice person but you can't believe that because you have your own issues with him."
"It's just an act and I'm so disappointed you're falling for it. He probably wants something."
"And what could that be, Mr Know-it-all?"
"He wants to make me jealous. He has no genuine interest in you, Shan."
"How do you know that?" I retorted, sitting on my bed. "Do you think I'm not pretty enough for a guy to like me?"
"I didn't mean it like that," Clyde plonked himself on Kelsey's bed to face me. "You're pretty but I know a lot more about Chris than you do. I've known him for over five years."
"No kidding. I don't care how long you've known him. I think you're just judging him because of your little feud. I hope one day you'll see past that and know what a wonderful person he is."
I never judge any person basing on what people say but what they do. All of us have both strengths and weaknesses. We have to accept people for who they are and not what people think they are.
"A wonderful person? How can you be that stupid? Can you not see that he's being too kind to you?"
Did he just call me stupid? I wished I had a knife nearby, I'd stab the stupid son of a...gun. I couldn't insult his mother, a good friend of my mother's. Besides, she had nothing to do with this.
"I think you already trust him, don't you?" He continued, touching my hand. I shook his hand off and moved away from him.
"Of course I trust him. Why wouldn't I trust such a loving and caring young gentleman," I lied just to annoy him. Contrary to what Clyde thought, I wasn't that stupid. Before I could trust Chris, I had to know more about him.
Clyde's face fell.
"Shannon please, do this for me," he moved to sit next to me and held my hands. "Never talk to him again. I don't want you to get hurt."
I could see the pain in his eyes. I was hurt too. He couldn't just show up and tell me who I shouldn't be friends with. That was so unfair and absurd considering the fact that he was a year younger than I.
"I really care about you." He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
"But you don't act like it," I complained, smiling a little.
"I'm sorry, babe. Sometimes I just imagine you don't want me to disturb you."
Even though I could never admit it to my friends, I wanted to date a boy I could exchange sweet messages with daily. It was hard to find someone like that. My ex boyfriend liked to send me cute texts coped from the internet and I hated them so much they made me want to break my phone. I like when people are original and write from their hearts. Why is it so hard for some?
"It's not disturbing when I love you," I smiled further.
"I love you too," he hugged me and I wanted us to be in that position forever. "Promise you won't talk to Chris again."
That ruined the moment.
On Friday night I received a call from Kim inviting to their family picnic. Although I was not very close to Clyde's family, I always tagged along because of Kim's consistent invitations. We used to be like peas in a pod when Clyde and Keri were dating. In most of their family picnics, two members outside the family were supposed to be invited as a rule. To make the occasion more lively, Clyde and Kim had to invite a close friend of theirs to join. I admired that family tradition of theirs.Kim always chose me because she said I was her best friend though she wasn't my best. We were super close though not in the way I was close to friends I wasn't related to. Clyde always came with Louis or his other friends. Before my first kiss with Clyde I'd always loved the picnics because it gave me a chance to hang out with the guy I was crushing on.This time I wasn't thrilled at all. I had not been with his family since we kissed and I knew awkwardness was g
After exiting the room, I immediately dialled Chris's number."Hello," I said."Hey Shannon. Are you okay? You don't sound well."I wiped my face with my palm. "I'm not okay.""What's it, baby? What has happened?""Can we meet?""I'm going to the campus right now," I said. "Can we meet at Somi's cafe?"I got there before he did. He walked in when I was sipping my iced tea. We spent a lot of time talking about normal student issues for semester tests were starting in a week and the atmosphere was changing. Most students were becoming serious and during the night, there were few people in clubs and bars around Campus."Why are you so nice to me?" I asked Chris as I gulped the last of my iced tea. Chris couldn't even finish a cup of iced tea because he preferred coffee. It was the third I'd drank since I entered the cafe."Because you
I found myself outside Clyde's apartment two days later. I'm not entirely sure what took me there. Either it was my undying love for him or guilt. I took a deep breath and knocked.Louis opened the door and shot me a death glare, "What do you want, Shannon?""Hello to you too, Louis." I smiled. "I hope you're having a good day. I come in?""I was until you arrived," He raised an eyebrow. "Are you spying on us?"I laughed, "Come on, Louis. Why would I do something like that? Don't be ridiculous.""Chris sent you, didn't he?" He studied me, still blocking the way in. How frustrating!"Of course not. I just felt like seeing Clyde. Can I go in now.""He's your sister's ex," he said."So what? Can't I see my sister's ex if we're friends? What the hell is wrong with you? This doesn't concern you at all.""You can't kiss him. Especia
Chris's lips met mine. My mind was telling me it was wrong and I should stop yet my body ached for more of him. I kissed him back, enjoying the sweet feeling that arose from the connection of our lips. Desire raged through my whole body as the kiss became steamy. He disconnected his lips from mine and they dropped kisses along my jawline and downwards to my neck. His right hand went under my top caressing my tummy which tightened and arched at the contact. His gentle touch and kisses left me craving more. I didn't think I'd ever get enough.I pulled away and lifted up his shirt so he could remove it. He froze for a second but smiled, and pulled it off his head. He was lean but he had well defined abs. I smiled, tracing my fingers along the lovely tattoos on his smooth but hard skin."They're awesome," I told Chris who was not listening because he was too busy trying to get my top off. It finally went over my head and landed on
"I can't believe this," Kelsey said, placing the battery on the table. It was the only thing in the phone that survived intact. She grabbed a broom and collected the remaining pieces of my phone. "Even after knowing that you have a boyfriend, Chris is still after you? How did you get so lucky, my friend?""And he's gonna get you a phone? Just like that?""Is there something you're not telling us?" Ruby asked. She bent over to unbuckle her brown flats. "We're your friends, you know."I studied the girls' faces and they seemed to share the same opinion. Anyone could tell they were highly suspicious by their smiles and that was not good for me at all. Maybe they had already talked about me behind my back.Shit!"Alright," I sighed. "The thing is they don't like each other at all. They're kind of enemies.""So you knew Chris before that party?" Nina asked unwrapping a bar of chocolate. She took a g
Fury swept over me the moment Clyde mentioned Chris. I broke away and went to sit on my bed. This wasn't how I wanted things to go. If he wanted us to work out, he had to put his little feud aside."I can't just stop talking to him."Clyde glared at me. "What? Why not?""He seems to be a good person," I reasoned. "He'd be hurt if I just stopped talking to him. We're kind of friends now.""So you wanna please him and hurt me? Wow that's really great, Shannon. Thank you for being so considerate. I love you so much more now.""Stop being dramatic. I'm not trying to hurt you," I explained. "Just because you hate Chris doesn't mean I should hate him. I don't even know what happened between you guys. Why should I get involved?""You don't know because it's none of your business." Clyde came to sit next to me. I let him hold my hand. "All you need to know is he's not what he makes you thin
