SIXTEEN

 ~IN PERFECT FAMILY ~

Mrs Jenifer

 I was in the sitting room, setting a table for my daughter in law; Kailer. I covered the table with a red cloth,placed four bowls full of food and a big glass of juice. I then placed four plates,a napkin beside each and a folk and knife on the other side. The first bowl was for beer and BBQ ribs, Second bowl for dirty rice, Third bowl for mixes veggies, And the last bowl for creamy spinach. 

"I'm already done now,I have also prepared homemade doritos which I left in the kitchen." I said   to myself.

 "Babe have you done already?" I blurt out. 

"Yes love,I'm here." My husband uttered after joining me in the dining room. We sat down impatiently waiting for the couple to arrive.

KAILER 

 We alighted from  the car and headed to the main door.

 "Wow! This yard is so damn spic and span,I wonder what's inside,its also very huge and surrounded by various plants whose scent smelled so perfect,the view of this apartment as well as the surrounding left me in awe." I talked to myself as I proceeded scrutinizing this beauty until we got to the main door. Jeff opened the door and we got in as we  headed to the sitting room.

 "Babe I'm scared."I said with in a low voice. 

"Don't be,my parents don't bite,you will be fine love." He kissed my forehead in assurance as he placed his other hand around my waist. 

"Hey mom and dad." He greeted them as we got to the sitting room while I was still amazed by such a beautiful;squeaky clean house.

 "Kailer my daughter." His mom said as she jolted me out of my reverie. 

"Good morning mom." I gave a slight bow and afterwards embraced me after arising from her seat. Jeff pulled out a chair for me and I sat down. 

"Okay,Kailer please pray for the food, you guys kept us waiting and I'm so famished." His mom primped and I was baffled. I mean I never pray and I don't even know where to start as I made a puppy face facing Jeff. 

"Okay mom,I will pray." He rescued me as we all joined hands and he started praying.

 "Lord Jesus we thank you for this food,bless the food and the hands which have prepared the food,we thank you since we are still able to eat something  while other people wake up  with empty tummies and go back to sleep the same way. Provide for them also,it is done in Jesus name we have prayed,Amen." He concluded.

 "Amen." We all said in unison as Mrs Jenifer started opening the bowls. We started digging in our meal  in silence apart from the noise made by our folks and knifes as they clicked on our plates. 

"Its really good to always pray." Mrs Jenifer said breaking the silence tjat reigned over the arena as we all nodded.

 "So Kailer my dear,do you attend church on Sundays?" She asked after taking a sip from her juice.

"Yes mom." I lied still focusing on the meal in front of me.

 "Where?" She asked and I almost choked on my food.

"Ummmm..." I cleared my throat.

 "Wife,can you please cease with this questions of yours?" Mr Asha said.

 "What is wrong with having a little chat with my daughter in law?" She asked shrugging her shoulders.

 "What?" I exclaimed adverting my gaze towards Jeff who just shrugged.

 "So your boyfriend didn't yet propose?don't worry just get ready to be my daughter very soon." She said and flashed a smile at me.

"I like you a lot,and I can't wait to be living with you for some time." 

"Thanks mom." I replied shyly. We were already done eating.Mrs Jenifer stood up so as to clean the table.

 "No mom,relax I will clean it." I volunteered as I started taking the plates and glasses. 

"Thank baby,the kitchen is right on your left side at that passage. Come along with a bowl of doritos." She explained.

"Okay Mom." I said and walked out.

"She is really a good girl." I said facing Jeff.

"Thanks mom." Jeff said. 

"And she is not that bad,I mean talking about her looks." My husband  teased as we all shared a laughter. 

"Look at her smile,it rocks right?" Mr Asha whispered in Jeff's ear as I averted my gaze at the door and saw Kailer walking majestically towards us with a bowl  in her hands. She placed the bowl on the table as we began eating the doritos. 

" wow! So you have also done washing all the dishes already?"I asked her.

 "Yes mom." She replied with a low voice as her head was slightly lowered. Silence regained over the room again.

 "So Kailer tell me about your family." I stated breaking the silence again.

"I'm Kailer,I only live with my mother but now she has traveled to cape town,my father disappeared just like a ghost five years ago,and we own one company." She explained.

 "Care to tell us your surname,mother's name as well as the company's name?" Mr Asha chipped in. 

"The surname we use is Killer,and our company's name is Killer company." She replied.

" You left out the other part."I continued as a took three sips from my juice. 

"Meliser Killer." She said and i almost choked on my juice as the glass I was holding slipped from my hand and gave a loud crack on the floor. They all jerked back from their seats in fear.

 "Mom are you okay?" Jeff asked rushing to my side. 

"Wait,is this your mother?" I showed her a photo of a women in my phone gallery. 

"Yes mom,its her. I never thought you knew he........"

 "Shut up you child of a bitch." I shouted with a pitch of darkness hovering and lingering in my voice. I gave her a cold glaze as she dashed to Jeff's side and clutched his shirt tightly in fear. 

"Babe what is wrong?" My husband asked as he came near me and cupped my cheeks with both his hands. I showed him Meliser's photo in my phone as he gasped loudly. 

"What's going on here? Can someone explain to me what's wrong?" Jeff uttered confusedly.

 "Shut up son,make sure you stay away from this girl from today until you die,you....." I said pointing my finger at Kailer.

"leave my house right now. ...leave!" I shouted on top of my voice as I myself felt like the whole house would tremble anytime soon.I quickly headed towards her and gave her a very hot slap on both cheeks after yanking my hands from my husband's grip. 

"A little devil while your mother is the biggest one, of which I have ever met." I spilled my saliver on her face and walked pass her to my room. 

"Dad what's going on?" I asked confused as dad gave Kailer an evil hard stare.
