A day after my birthday

I rushed to the college, being late is one of my few qualities, but today wasn't my fault, papa asked me to drop him off the court before college. We left the house at 10am but I entered the college at 12:05. F*ucking 30km ride.

Yesterday was my birthday, kevin promised me that he will meet me but he didn't. I was mad at him.

"May I come in?" I said catching-up my breath.

No answer.

"May I come in, SIR?" loudly.

No answer.

As i was about to leave.

"Yes, welcome miss." Scoffed professor.

I rushed in and took the empty seat beside saachi.

"What's his problem" i whispered.

"Atleast he lets you in kavya,he doesn't even allow if we are 5 mins late and clearly you are 15mins late" said afreen, she was sitting in front of me.

Saachi opened her mouth to say something but immediately looked down when noticed professor gawking at us.

The professor kay taught us metabolism, he was dark, short in his late 50s. Although he appeared angry but he reminded me of MARIO (a character in game).

"Happy belated birthday" chirped carol looking at me. I smiled widely.Few others wished me too, after lecture was over.

"Its so hot in here" said afreen looking at saachi.

"Yeah, this classroom sucks. Can't they install few more fans in here" said kevin from behind. He was sitting behind me with carol.

"Don't you feel suffocating, you never tie your hairs" said saachi.

"No. My hairs make me feel confident." I said.

"Confident and bold" said kevin.

I ignored him the rest of the day even in lab. He tried talking to me but, me being me, stubborn as hell.

I waited for him in corridor after the lab, coz i can't be mad at him for long time he was my friend after all.

"I thought you left" kevin said. 

"Hmm" i said. I was not mad anymore but why am i acting cold.

"Follow me" he said. 

I did. He walked towards the other building of the college where library was. Why are we going to library.

"I need to leave" I said.

"You need to leave but you don't want to" he said. "And you still have 30 mins"

"I don't want to go to library" i said coldly and stopped walking.

He grabbed my hand and walked past the library.

"Wait a second" i looked around in confusion.

"Come on yar, i won't kidnap you" he said leaving my hand.

Library was on ground floor. He climbed up the stairs and i followed. Stairs led to a Window with large green window sill, i looked around and saw another staircase that leads to first floor. He pushed his bag off the shoulders and sat on the window sill.

"Biochemistry lectures ends at 5pm, and after that no one comes up here" he said

I joined him, yes the sill was large enough. It was made for sitting purpose only.

"So how was your birthday?" He asked.

I couldn't hold back now.

"Okay, so shaggy pretend that he forgot my birth day, rosh came over at 12 pm with dhruv , with 2 large boxes and 1 small box. I was expecting shaggy to come but he didn't. I cut the cake. Then rosh handed me the largest box. " I started giggling. He grinned.

"The box had a huge brown teddy with a letter. I knew this was from shaggy. The letter said he couldn't come as he lives in another city but he can never forget my birthday." I showed him the pics.

"Now the other box had a black collage photo- frame." I showed him the picture.

"You look so dumb in these pictures"(photos in the photo-frame) he said pointing a picture of mine.

"I know" i laughed.

"What about the third box?" He asked.

"Cake. Stupid" i said.

"we all had lunch together, then they left. Few other friends came over and atlast I had amazing family time."

"Woaw. You can talk so much without even breathing." 

"Yeah. True friends care, fake friends say they will meet but then ditch us"

"Common yar i told you some things really important came up. I AM SORRY." He said holding his ears.

We sat there for few minutes talking about my birthday and then decided to grab a coffee from canteen before leaving. We saw armaan downstairs and asked him to join us.

"So how much fund did we managed to collect today" asked kevin looking at the armaan.

Armaan shook his head in denial.

"What fund?" I asked in amusement.

"Umm. Finish your coffee first" he said gulping in his.

I looked at armaan for answer.

"Okay listen, we are collecting fund to help the people like you who can't afford to buy a simple jeans" he said pointing at my ripped jeans and started laughing.

"Look at your knees, hi knees" he said

Poking my knees.

"Both knees" added armaan laughing.

"This worths more than yours" i hissed.

We headed home after few minutes of teasing and laughing.

We were so close, i got friends. I no more feel out of the place here. It was better than my last college. May be because i let him in my life.
