Blind date

Jerry enter one of the most expensive cafe at country F. He took a seat by the corner out of people's view, at least he will divert unnecessary attention away from himself. The least he want now is for paparazzi invading his peaceful life. He would blame himself if those annoying reporters keep chasing him up and down , he knows his peaceful life will vanished in a second. 

 He glance at his watch to check the time the person he was waiting for is late already by ten minute. He can't believe he left his work at the office to seat here a a blind date. He sigh when he remembered how his mother threaten him before he agreed to this,  just to please her.

Two days earlier

"Take this envelop." Mrs Tim said with outstretched hand.

"Mum? what should I do with it?" Jerry said taking it from her.

"Look here my son.."(she sigh because she don't know how he is going to react to what she will say) "I know you love that lady but  she has been married for over a year now. As the situation on ground you can not cast all your hope on her, you can't put all your eggs in a basket. Jerry the envelop I gave to you contains the photographs of the ladies...,.."

Jerry drop the envelop on the floor as if it is electric that shock him. He open his mouth surprisingly  looking at his mother.

Mrs Tim frown at him before she continues"....not just any lady young man. I selected few of my friends daughter . As you know they all came from prominent family, beautiful and elegant. They are all ready and eager to come for the blind date in fact I have choose one of the expensive and private cafe not far from here as your meeting point. The time and every other information you need are provided in the envelop you dropped on the floor."

"Mummy!!!! You can't do this. "He stand up from his chair,he ran his hands in his hair in frustration.

"Mum! please don't be like this. OK! I know you want me to get married and be happy but my heart has been with only one person since and you know it. You have been supporting  me ever since then so why are you stopping that now mum?!"

"Jerry enough of that! "Mrs Tim stand up face his son. "I have tolerate you since all this years. Yes, I do support you to do anything you want if it makes you happy but why are you so selfish ? you always think about yourself. Don't I deserve to be happy too? Why do you love to make me worry always about you? Jerry this is the last time am talking to you about this or else you won't like what I will do." she threatened him.

"Mum, are you actually threatened me? "Jerry chuckled not believing what is happening.

"yes, am threatening you if that is what you call it."she counter.

" Is that why you came all the way from home? but mum give me a little time please."Jerry said sitting beside his mother.

"Son, I want to hear a good reply from you soon." Mrs Tim stand up pat him on the shoulder and went out of his office ignoring his last statement completely.

Jerry dump the envelop on the table, he closed his eyes while massaging his temple with had s left hand deep in thought, right now he does not know what to do?

Present

Jerry look at his watch for the umpteenth time, he decided he will wait for another five minute before leaving this place at least he will have something to argue with his mum. She will know he tried  to wait for someone who is twenty minute late.He silently sip his coffee after three minute a lady walk up to him .

She is indeed beautiful, petite long brown hair and grey eyes . She put on a gold colour short down that stop above her knee with black bag and sandal. She smile elegantly at him.

"Am sorry, am late. Its very unusually of me, something crop up at work which got me delayed. By the way my name is Sofia Bright."

Jerry shook his head inwardly, he shook her outstretched hand before he introduced himself." I am Jerry Tim."

"Handsome...no need to introduced yourself you are well known among our social class." She said sitting down before him.

Jerry did not bother with her at all. He just sit down like a king." Since you are now, you have wasted twenty minute of my precious time..."

"I think I apologized earlier Mr Jerry, don't be petty! " Sofia countered.

Jerry furrow his brow. He hate been interrupted when he is talking but he said nothing. She want the lady to reject him by herself. He will do everything to annoy her.

Sofia ignore him, she beckon to one of the waiter ;" hello young man, can you show me the menu please?"

 " No need of that I have order the food in advance;" Jerry said with disinterest

 "Sir, should we serve you now? asked the waiter.

"Yes do that. Am famished,"Jerry reply but inside him he is jubilating he has ordered all the food according to Sofia's dislike.

After five minute of silent their foods was served .  rice, lobster bisque soup and pork soup with mango juice.

Jerry served himself happily but Sofia wrinkle her nose. she stated clearly in her profile that she hate pork, lobster and mango, while  did he order all this now? she asked herself .

Did he not go through her profile or he is deliberately provoking her. She looked at the man across her that is eating his food happily not bother to ask or serve her food. He is not a gentleman at all.  "no wonder he is still single."She murmur .

Sofia play with her cutlery not tasting any of it , She sat there fuming in anger. 

Jerry noticed all her expression but he did not even give a damn. Jerry looked from his peripheral vision to see a waiter bringing juice towards there table. He heard when the ladies at the table behind him order two cups of orange and strawberry juice. He put his foot on the way to trip the waiter. The content he carried pour directly on the fuming Sofia.

Sofia was dumbfounded, not expecting to be soaked at all. She has not find herself in a situation like this before, she hate coming to this date.

" Oh my God! what have you done? "Sofia said after finding her voice.

"am sorry ma, It was my mistake I did not know what I step on"(jerry has withdraw his leg amidst the commotion)

" It was your mistake right?? are you blind or something ? where is the thing that trip you?" Sofia said angrily.

Jerry just continue to eat his food as if everything that is happening is not of his concern.

The waiter continue to plead to her, he even offer to buy her a new cloth to change into.

Everyone noticed her date did not utter a word, they did not know if he is angry or not.

 They all pity the young man not knowing what will be his fate.

Sofia noticed that her date did not say a thing, if she continue to talk she will keep on embarrassing herself, people will see her as unreasonable person.

 She bit her inner cheek to calm herself she did not want to lose her composure, she glare angrily at the waiter, she made a hand gesture to dismiss him. The waiter thank her before he disappear from there as if death is after him.

"Mr Jerry, can't you at least say something can't you see am drenched?"

"Oh, he looked up from his food, clean his mouth with a napkin. Oh am sorry, why do you look like this? just like zombie. my dear you look awful." He said with a straight face.

Sofia was greatly embarrassed. She did not expect that coming. She stood there trying to  detect if it is a joke or not but when she saw the seriousness on his face, she nearly cry it hold herself not to humiliate herself further.

Everyone looking at them did not expect that comment from him. They nearly burst with laughter. they all pretend not hearing anything not to embarrass the lady.

Sofia look around her, she could judge from everyone reaction that they are holding themselves not to burst with laughter. She did not need anyone to tell her again that she look bad, her mascara has smear on her face even her powder. She has spent hours applying foundation on her face before she get this desirable effect and everything was spoilt  by that annoying waiter now she need no one to tell her that it was Jerry that trip him because how would him fall out of no where ?.  She concluded .

Jerry beamed at her, then wink. "Now Miss Sofia can we continue our date?" he asked looking confused.

Sofia glared at him, hissed before she take her purse from the table and out of the restaurant.

Jerry laughed out Los after she left. Everyone look at him in amusement while ladies shook their head at his childish behavior.

He smile getting up from his seat and move out of the restaurant.

It has been two days now that Susan has been resting at home. Its has also been two days she set her eyes on Bob. He did not call her or check on her. Emily has informed her that she had call him before she called the Doctor and from her reaction she guess that its not a beautiful conversation.

Susan exhale deeply ; "what did I do for you Bob? why did I do to deserve this treatment from you? where did I go wrong? who do I tell that all is not well with our relationship? who will even believe me when all he does is to show his lovey- dovey side outside, for the past three month things have gone sour. I cannot even tell my friend. What do I do?" Susan asked herself she laid on her bed staring at the ceiling when she suddenly heard the sound of engine .....
