Brown envelop

"Emily, please see me in the office."Susan said from her office.

Yes ma'am replied Emily into the intercom on her table. She stood up took the files that needed the chair lady's signature and made her way towards the office of her boss.

knock!  knock!  

"come in Emy"  came Susan's reply.

Susan lie down on the sofa in her office with her eyes closed and hands over her forehead .

Emily was shocked to see her boss on the sofa with a slight frown on her face. She was has never met her like this before, she is always working. She even doubt if she ever rest like this but why is she frowning. 

She moved closer to her ; "Madam? you called for me!"  she said. She took personal liking in her boss despite their age differences of three years; they took each other like a sister and friend. Thou she always maintain her line as an employee, she sees Susan as a kindhearted lady even with her saucy and snobby nature. She has been working in this office for five years now as a personal assistant and secretary to the chairman before the demise of Mr Richard. 

She is very competent  lady that knows the right thing to do and at the right time, may be that was why Susan liked her this much and treated her nicely from other secretary only Susan can answer that because practically she don't know what she has done for her to like her the much. She was lost in her thought with a warm smile on her face. She snap out of her la-la land when she noticed that Susan has not answered her at all. 

She call to her again (still no answer) she moved closer to check her. She noticed she look pale and her face frowned.  She paused not knowing what to do. She call again like a whisper still no reaction from her. 

She hesitate, before she touched her hand. She panicked when she felt her temperature. she is burning with fever. She tap her slightly to wake her up. 

"Oh my God; ma'am Susan ? ma'am Susan ; are you OK?"

 Susan groan in response, Emily quickly drop the  files she is hold on the table, dashed into the bathroom in the office . A minute later she came out with napkin soaked with water. She loses two buttons of her shirt to wipe her neck, hands, legs and forehead. She noticed the she is still burning she repeat the action for three consecutive time .

Emily pace around in the office not knowing what to do ; what to do , what to do; it seems the temperature has drop but should I do now? she asked herself. She drop the napkin went back into the bathroom to check the first aid box.

 She brought out the box, pick the thermometer to check her temperature. It is still high a bit 38.2 degree Celsius. She sigh in relieve. she checked the box again to take a drug that will help her fever but all the drug in there are expired. 

"Oh my my! what to do again all the drugs are are expired,."Miss Richard do not stock the box at all. She made a metal note to replace every thing in the box later but right now what will she use to break her fever her brain must not fry . she can't imaging seeing her playing with sand in the park. She shook her head to chase such thought away. 

She went out of the office to take her phone at least she has to inform her husband.

She dialed his number for three times without answer. She wanted to give up bit when she remember her boss inside she call him again this time Bob pick up his phone at the last ring ; "Hello Emily, how are you? any problem? "Bob asked with urgency

Emily noticed this he guess he might be busy ; "Good day sir, sorry to disturb you sir,i went into madam's office  now she called me but when i...."

"Emily please go straight to the point i don't have all day!" Bob rudely interrupt her story.

"Sir am sorry sir , Madam is burning seriously with fever .," Susan said with frown

"So??? "Bob said with a raise brow 

" I have wipe her body with napkin but I  need to inform you as I don't know what to do again ; may be you can come to ....help her" Emily suggested.

Bob chuckled.... Emily looked at her phone confused she was thinking if what she said is funning.

" Emily!!do I look like a doctor to you? or am I baby sitter ? if you don't know what to do you can just resign. Don't you have brain? Didn't your company have a doctor? so what is my own; if anything happen to her you are dead meat." Bob roar from the other end.

Emily take the phone away from her ear, she did not expect such outburst from Bob at all. All thou her boss try to hide it she can still guess things are not the same between the two. 

Beep! Beep! Beep! Bob cut the call without giving Emily to answer all the question she throw at her. He lean into his seat , he over reacted just now but he can't help it, he is irritated with everything about that stupid Lady(Susan). She should die for all he cares. 

Emily stare wide at her phone with the beeping tone. 

How could she forget Doctor Abby ; she dialed her number immediately. She scratch her chin impatiently she did not wasn't to be a dead meat like what Bob has said . The latter picked up instantly . She sigh.

"Hello Emy;  what happened? why are you sounding like this? "Abby asked

"Doctor Abby, please for God sake!!can you come right now?"

"Emily, slow down what happened? " Abby asked.

" Just come right now! madam Susan is burning  with fever and I have wipe her body but her temperature is still high. I checked its 38.2 degree Celsius. Please come right now, I beg you." Emily pleaded.

She went back into the office to check her boss. The temperature is still high. she waited for the doctor to shown up. She heard knock on the door.

She opened the door to see the doctor at the door, she sigh in relieve.

Abby smiled at her worry self . She went inside to check the sleeping Susan on the chair. She gave her injection also drugs that will help break the fever and asked her to rest for few days.

"Thanks doc; I will keep reminding her.." replied Emily from the corner.

Doctor Abby packed up her things and nodded at Emily before she made her way out with Emily escorting her out to the elevator.

She rushed back to the office to the sleeping Susan ; she noticed her eyes is still closed. She turn back to leave so as not to disturb her sleep

"Sorry boss!" she said.

Before she closed the door she heard her name faintly .

She turn back but she did not expect what she heard next.

She stood at the spot not believing her ears, she just heard her boss saying thank you to her. 

 You are welcome ma." she manage to say to her after a moment of surprise. She has not heard her say that word to anyone it is as if it does not exist in her dictionary. She closed the door to leave her alone.

"Come in." Jerry said to whosoever is at the door of his office.

Assistant Matt open this door to announce the presence of Madam Tim; "sir madam is here to see you."

 Jerry was surprise to hear that, she has not see her for two weeks now . She is always asleep whenever he came home but mostly he stayed back in the office . A minute later his mother opened the door to his office.

Jerry stood up from his seat, he hug her and pecked her on the cheek ; "mum why are you here?" He asked before he returned to his seat.

 Mrs Tim sat in front of him ; "you are asking my why I am here? why won't I come here when you refuse to come home. It has been two weeks I set my eyes on you. So , why won't I come? you ungrateful brat you made me worry so much ." 

Jerry smiled at her, "mum you better stop stressing your beautiful  heart. As you can see am fine and handsome as always." He tap on his laptop to continue his work.

"Jeremiah Tim? I want you full attention so stop working and look at me; Mrs Tim said with all seriousness.

Jerry's hand paused on the keyboard, he know when ever he heard his full name from his mother she is very serious. He closed the laptop to gave his mother.

"Mum what is it? "he asked worriedly .

" Jerry, you can deceive everybody but not me your mother. I know you are depressed and I know you have been smoking and drinking heavily ever since you received a call and the photography of Susan's wedding. I know you buried your self in work to forget your sorrow but for how long are you going to continue like this? Everything you are doing to yourself is giving me heartbreak and you know ever since I lost your father you are the only one I have. why are you doing this to me?" Mrs Tim asked with bitterness.

" mum don't be like this."Jerry said avoiding her gaze

" Don't be like how Jerry? do you intend to kill me before my time? why can't you move on ? is she the only fish in the ocean? you can't you give your love to another person?" Mrs Tim asked angrily.

"Mum, its not easy for me please understand me!" He said dejectedly.

"Understand you Bob? come on don't be ridiculous! she doesn't even know you exist. wake up and do something with your life." she said with a raised voice

She deep her hand in her hand bag and placed a brown envelop on his table....
