13. Party or Disaster???

The party has started as soon as the guest of honor arrived. Pat and his family were seated in the makshift stage along with Edith's family. A simple feast as it seems but Alex and Trish had prepared an entertainment of sorts. 

"Tonight, we will introduce to you our very own dancers. They will be perfoming the tinikling. Please welcome our dancers and give them a round of applause." Alex stood in the fance floor while announcing this. Edith was shocked to see that her little sister along with her classmates are dressed in a Filipiñana while the boys who were from this pack and the same age were wearing barong and pants. They also brought bamboo sticks. 

The dancers paired up. Two boys were holding the bamboo sticks in both ends while the girls are standing in the sides. There were six groups all in all. The bamboo sticks rested in a bamboo that was cut in half. 

They started the dance. Pat's family was in awe with the dancers. They were graceful and you can see that they really practiced. Every count has been well coordinated and the dancers are moving in between the bamboo sticks in a fluid motion. In two counts they must dip their feet in between then move out. It seems that their feet will be caught in between but it doesn't. 

"My, you have a very talented kids here señor Vicente." Patricia, his mama said. They never had seen this kind of dance upclose. They are usually familiar with native dances which praises the anito or anita (gods and goddesses). 

"Si señora. We are glad to have such talented kids here. This has become their past time for a couple of months now." Vicente replied. 

"Careful! That was close." Patricia was shocked at the sudden movement of one of the dancers. It's feet just avioded the bamboos by a hair strand. 

"Don't worry señora, they know what they are doing. May I ask how come you came with Patricio's siblings? Where is your husband?" Vicente was worried. If her husband was not here he might not be supportive of this budding relationship and his child. He meant to ask her later but he could no longer contain his worries. 

"I don't mind you asking. In fact my husband wanted to come here as well. But he had prior commitments already. He sees to it that Pat here will be able to go here whenever he pleases. We are quite far from your place so he arranged an accommodation for him." Patricia responded. She has hope that it will ease Vicente's mind. She knows that this party is very important to both their children. 

"Very well then. I am glad that he supports this relationship. If my daughter will accept Patricio, when can we meet again? I want them to get married as soon as possible. She isn't as young as she looks and most of the women her age has kids of their own. Two more years and she might be called a spinster already." He was glad that Patricio's parents approves his intention to court Edith. He wanted to waste no time for his daughter as she has suffered far too long without a mate. Every month that passes by is another month of excruciating pain for her. He knows about her nightmares and the sleepless nights Edith and Trish has to endure because she hasn't found her mate yet. Only when she will be with her can this nightmare stop. He.knew this since he has asked the elders and a couple of albularyo (witches or wizards) who has known his kind. 

"Whoa, señor you are moving too fast, I might say that I like what you are proposing. My Patricio has been looking for his destiny for far too long as well. Shall we set another meeting with you next month? I will bring my husband by then along with the rest of our family. We can then talk about their wedding. I think a month of courtship is enough for them to get to know each other." Patricia agreed. She smiled at Vicente's proposal. This was indeed a good news for them. She was starting to be worried about her son not having a wife while his brother's are happily married already. 

"Very well then, it is settled. Next month we will talk again about their wedding. Let's set it on the same date as today." Vicente's smile was prominent and everyone can see that their former Alpha is finally happy for his daughter. For the past year he would always have a worried look or scrunched up forehead due to Edith not having a mate yet. He has ordered them already to bring their friends and family over as she might have her might amongst them. Yet she hasn't found him. 

Patricio noticed that his Mama and señor Vicente had a good conversation. He stood from his seat and went to Edith to ask her to dance. 

"Señora, may I have this dance?" Pat held out his hand to Edith. Edith blushed at his request. Her haert was racing as she holds his hand. There was a few sparks here and there where their body touched. She was glad to finally feel it. She was in a blissful place when he is near her. 

"Si señor." Was all she said. They made their way to the dance floor as the dancers have finished their dance. A couple of her pack members joined then in the dance floor while some of them played the guitar and sang songs. 

"Señora, I vow to be the best man to be your husband. I will show you how much I love you already. Will prove to you and your family that I am the person for you." Pat whispered in her ear. She blushed even more than before. He really is an old soul. She was happy at his declaration. 

"Señor, you may call me Edith, no need to be formal. My Papa and your Mama has already agreed to our courtship. Base from their conversation earlier they are already talking aboit our wedding as we speak." Edith whispered back. 

Pat barely heard her as he did not have his kama-kama hearing in his form right now. They try to blend with the humans as they venture out into their territory. This means there senses are dampened as they have to cover their faces with illusions to avoid stares from everyone. 

"Did you say wedding? I thought this was just about me asking permission to court you." Pat smiles as he thought that things are mocing fast for his liking. 

"Yes, Pat they are talking about our wedding." Edith replies. 

"How do you know this?" Pat had that look of curiosity. 

Edith hestitated at first to answer him as she might loose her chance with her mate. But her wolf said otherwise. She took over and told him. 

"We are wolves and we have a good hearing." There was a sudden change in her voice which Pat noticed. When he looked at her eyes it wasn't the blue eyes he knew but was changed into a golden yellow. 

"Edith are you in there? Why is your eyes glowing?" Pat stepped back. He never knew wolves existed until now. But he was amazed that his destiny is a wolf. He was amused than scared. 

Edith saw the amusement in Pat's eyes. Although she could not speak as her wolf is in command right now. She tried to gain back control. Her wolf resigned and gave her control. She was satisfied with his reaction. 

"Pat are you not scared of me?" Edith was teary eyed as she said this. Not sure how he will respond. 

"Edith, my love, I love you no matter what you are. I have a suprise for you tomorrow. Be ready in the afternoon, I will fetch you in a horse." Pat replied. He was in love with her and this knew information just made him fall for her even more.
