CHAPTER - 10 Dina lies to her mother, Kara

"Adrian, this is not a joke. Don’t you know why you forgot your magical skills? It is because of this flower. Your father once decided to help a sorceress who was from the family with this flower symbol. He almost lost his life while trying to help her. To save him, your mother sacrificed her powers completely but…" Andrew tried to explain and make him understand the severity.

"But that was not enough, so I willingly gave my memory of magic in exchange for their lives. I have heard this so many times. Yes, I sacrificed a little bit to save them. So what! It is not a big deal. Anyways, all I wanted was to live like everyone else, just be a normal human being. I am happy with how I am right now, so stop worrying so much about me. Look at your hair, it has all turned gray because of all the stress you get from thinking about such silly small things which are unimportant to anyone. In a few days, I doubt if there will be any hair that would be left on your head," Adrian commented and had a seriously worried look on his face.

"Please, I am born with grey hair. Even your mother has grey hair. It runs in our family! I did not expect that I would have to repeat this multiple times to you…"

Suddenly, Andrew realized something was not right. So, he stopped and looked at Adrian. He had a smug look on his face for diverting the old man's attention towards a different topic successfully. But the sharp-minded, Andrew jumped back into the topic right away after sending a glare his way.

"Wait, what were we even talking about? You are always good at changing the topic, aren't you? How many times should I remind you, you did not give the memory willingly but the sorceress greed caused you to lose it. You better stay away from the girl whom you met yesterday. She might be one of the twins who stayed alive." Andrew warned him.

"One of the twins? Then what about the other one? What happened to her?" Adrian asked with enthusiasm.

Adrian could not understand why he was suddenly interested in knowing about some random girl. When Andrew spoke about the twins, he felt some connections being formed within him. He felt flustered and he thought it might be due to those marks on his body as Andrew suggested.

"The alive one swallowed the poor soul of the other baby to survive when they were in their mother's womb," Before Andrew could say anymore, Adrian laughed out aloud.

"Do you even believe what you are saying, old man? How could a child swallow another child, especially when they were not even born? It is highly impossible and not practical at all! You should hang around with these humans more. They will give you all the scientific explanations needed for each and everything. Sometimes when twins are conceived, one of them might get more nutrients while the other does not… " Adrian tried to explain the details but it only increased Andrew’s anger.

"Shut up! You know nothing and you never try to understand anything we say or teach you! All you do is talk nonsense all day and not do any useful things. Why do you spend all your time in business instead of trying to find a way to get your memory back?" Andrew asked him.

"I don’t need that lousy memory back! All I want is to become a rich man the world has never seen before." Adrian declared his goal proudly.

"We do not need so much wealth in this world, when are you going to understand that? Did I not tell you to not invest in this hotel? See now, what happened to you? If you have not done that then you would have not come here in the first place. Just go and get ready! We are leaving soon," Andrew ordered and walked towards the sofa while shaking his head in disappointment.

“Alright! Alright! I was going to the bathroom earlier anyway. But I do recall something like you stopped me as you wanted to check the tattoo on my chest once again. Am I mistaken and did I remember it wrongly?” Adrian asked with sarcasm that was clearly evident in his voice.

Andrew glared at him but did not say anything or even tried to defend himself by expressing his thoughts. As he felt that the conversation had ended somehow, Adrian pulled his tired body towards the shower. He pressed a button next to the door and the blinds automatically covered the transparent bathroom.

Dina went directly to their tiny fashion boutique that stood in one corner of the ADN mall. When she came out of the hotel, she realized that there was no public transport available in that area for the next five miles.

"He not only brought me to a hotel but he even had the guts to make it to be in such a rural area? Did he really think I am an escort or something? Stupid! Idiot! Rogue! Bastard! Scoundrel! Brute!..." She cursed at him continuously for every single step she took on that deserted road.

Whatever bad words she could think of, she scolded him using those while marching the long stretch of the five miles. It was not like the hotel employee did not offer her a drop to the location she wanted to go to. She just did not want to take it and declined without even thinking it through.

She even gave the employee quite a stare when he asked her that question. It made him shiver in fear and moved behind as he got afraid that she might hit him.

At that moment, she wondered, 'What do they take me for? Everyone thinks I am an easy girl to bully! You all wait until I show you, who exactly I am! Huff! Huff! Huff!'

After she got into the bus that would take her home, she suddenly remembered that she had to submit her design drafts by today for the upcoming fashion week. So, she got down from that bus and took another one while dialing her mother's phone number.

"Mom, I am sorry! I got late, so I slept in the boutique yesterday. I have to submit the designs soon as today is the final day for the submission. I will see you tonight, mom. I love you!" Dina hurriedly spoke without giving any space for her mother to intervene.

She was about to end the phone call when she heard Kara's scream on the other end. That made her stop, pressing the end call button on her phone.

"DINAAAAAA!!!!" Kara screamed her name.

"Mom," Dina said holding the phone with shivering hands.

"Are you really telling the truth? Or did you just go and beat up some random guy once again yesterday night?" Kara asked while trying to control her anger.

"No! NO! Mom, why would I do that? I am not a rogue. You had always said that I am such a sweet child. So, how can I even think about doing such crazy things? Ask Mike, if you don't believe me. He will confirm to you, whether I was working all night or not!" Without putting much effort, she lied to Kara and made Mike a scapegoat.

She was sure that Mike would somehow manage on her behalf and she doesn't have to worry. Kara took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. She controlled her temper as she did not want to scold her daughter early in the morning.

Moreover, she had already known that she was preparing for the fashion week. Also, how important it was for Dina. So, she did not question her anymore, until she heard the announcement made from the other side,

'Next stop ADN mall'.

Kara understood Dina was lying. Dina could not believe what had just happened. She tried to mute the phone, instead, she put it on the speaker.

"Dina, where are you right now? Where did you go last night?" Kara inquired angrily.

The bus was slightly crowded and everyone turned to look at her in annoyance.

"I came out to get some cloth samples." Dina lied once again while trying to get rid of the speaker mode.

She could not believe how many more lies she had to tell her mother to make her believe that she did not spend a night with some random guy.

"Isn't it always done by Mike? Moreover, which store would be open at this time of the day for you to get the samples?" Kara almost caught her lying but the clever Dina had an answer for that too, which is a simple excuse.

"Mom, I need to go! This is my stop. If I don't get down right now then, I will have to come back from the next stop. I am already too tired staying awake overnight and I do not want to faint while walking on the road. I love you and miss you. Once I come back tonight, I will explain everything to you in detail. I promise," She stated and disconnected the call.
