Mag-log inIt's 4:30pm and Dele is still not here. Didn't he say we should meet by 4pm at caption cook? This is a complete embrassment. How can he dare to keep me standing on a first date? Or, whatever the fuck we doing here. Never will I try this again, never!
I kept on checking through the glass wall if Dele was coming, I could not see even his shadows approaching. The waiter on the other hand continued to plaster me, asking when I was going to take my orders.
"Okay, now I am fed up, I am heading home."
I stepped outside of the captain cook when I sighted Dele parking his car just outside of captian cook. Not that I love the fact that I saw him driving a car but wow, he owns a car. I kept waving at him as he kept smiling back at me.
He parked his car so well and walked right straight to me. He looked so mature and handsome in his vintage shirt, blue jean trouser and black Pam slippers. He seemed surprised meeting me standing at the front of captian cook.
"Have you been waiting here all day?" – he asked
"Nah, I was just about to go pee" – I said smiling with my hands playing around my hair.
"I am sorry I came this late. I had an issue with the car so, I quickly went to fix it. But here is something to make you forgive me." –he said as he brought out a necklace and perfect wore it around my neck.
"Honestly, you didn't have to buy this but thank you, it looks so beautiful." – I said with my face wearing a gigantic smile.
He held my hands as we walked in, right straight to a corner where we sat. I could notice some eyes on us.
"Yeah, I know I am beautiful. They were probably checking me out."
He beckoned on the waiter and ordered for some rice and chicken and two juice. I loved the way he gestured with his hands and how comfortable he speaks. He was trying to adjust the table when I popped the question.
"Didn't know you drive, is that your car parked outside?" – I asked gently.
"Yes, that my small ride." – he answered as he gave a short laugh"I love guys who drive."– I winked and continued by saying
"So, would you like to know about me?"
I could tell he looked taken aback if not entirely but a little by my question. I realised from that point I could have been too fast forward. Maybe I should just let him do the talking and I should only respond to whatever he ask.
The waiter already came with our orders, I wondered what people derived from eating in restaurants. How can a plate have just a small quantity of rice that cannot even satisfy an infant baby plus a large meat which can feed a whole nation. Dele had already began slicing his meat and taking it pieces to his mouth.
But is this guy okay sha? You no even dey shy for my face? [What's with him? Is he not shy?]
"Okay, tell me about you" he said with a low voice as he mumbled.
So, you self wan know about me, why you come dey form before? You see fine girl, you dey form porsche, Tah! [ Why is it hard for you to admit you want to know about me too?]
"So, I am Cynthia Coker by name as you may already know. I think I am loving and great as a person. I hate to gossip, and I hate people who lies. I think I am great a singer, I love music so much, I can listen to music forever. I am a cheerful giver, I give without hesitation. What else? Why not tell me about you too?" – I asked giving a small smile.
He quickly swallowed a piece of meat and sip his juice before he could talk.
"Well... I am Dele Akintayo, I am this quiet but stubborn guy. I am so much in love with music as well. Wizkid and Burna boy has been my favorite artist. I hate to play football, it sounds funny but it's true. Sometimes I wonder why guys are so intoxicated with football. Or maybe I am another specie in the body of a dead guy." – he chuckled but if he expected I chuckle, he was disappointed.
He cleared his throat and ask why I haven't touched my food nor drank my juice. He looked concern if I didn't like what he ordered.
"Oh! I am fine" – I quickly answered
"I can take it home if you insist"– I quickly added."Oh! yes, that will be very much okay." –he said as he beckoned on the waiter to pack my food in a takeaway for me.
It wasn't long to this time, Dele completely crunch the bones of the whole meat. I cannot help but to wonder. I was surprised he could not even try to compose himself well enough.
"How can you eat so freely around a beautiful girl like me. A goddess is right in your presence and you are failing to worship her feet. Who kind of a guy is this? Not only did you finish the whole meat, you even broke the bones...." I was still talking to myself when he interrupted.
"I think we are done here. Let's head home now."
He beckoned on the waiter and hurriedly pay for the meal. We stood up and walked straight down to his car. I loved the way he drived slowly to drop me off at my hostel. Perhaps he is an angel sent from above. No one is perfect though, maybe I should give him time around me, maybe he will do the needful and just worship my feet.
It was already 6:30pm and I could still hear the voice of Joshua and Shade laughing so hard like a seal. I walked closer to the door and listened secretly to their private conversation.
"But why is your friend always quiet when I am with you?" – he asked
"Trust me, my friend is friendly, she has her past, yes, everyone have their own past. When you get to know her, she is a very wonderful person." – she said.
"What's her past?" – he asked
"I can't discuss my friend with you, you should know that"– she responded.
"Is this what's making them laugh like crazy persons?"– I thought as I barge into the room
It's good to hear when Jeruel told me about the advances she played towards Joshua. Wouldn't shade die of frustration if she finds out how her prince charming was dancing around the beautiful girl she wasn't?Just has Shade assured me about his whereabouts, Jeruel confirmed he was already at J and J bar at seven in the evening. She was already seated in the darkened angle of the bar and watched him sit on the bar stool. Slowly and slowly she walked and sit next to him, tossed a glass of whiskey to him as he gulped it down, and slapped the glass on the bar before turning his face away.I knew Jeruel was the perfect lady for the job. Not only was she beautiful, she was a girl I trust can play her cards right. Now, what man can go all the way without falling in the shackles of a Queen of beauty Queens, a Princess and ambassador of awesomeness.
Dusk was falling rapidly. The sun had already set behind the mountains, and the sky had been drained of colors. It was already the close of a day, wasn't it some seconds ago the day started?Shade and I had just arrived from class. I could see her lips moving but all she said only went through my ear and came out the other. How can I make Joshua mine became a question that seemed a puzzle.“Maybe I need to keep a close watch on him. But, I mean, I don't even know about him than he is dating Shade. I don't know where he lives or anything else.” I took a slow, deep breath as my mind lingered more in thought.“Or, should I just ask her? Would it be a good idea?”Shade was completely carried away by her phone as she continued to laugh in mirthfulness artlessly flowing. I wondered what was so funny but I wasn't that curious to find out. The curiosity I had was tha
It seemed fast but Jeruel and I were able to get along as we have so many things in common. Though, it has just been two weeks it seemed we have known each other forever and every day In class, I would always go find her, sit with her, and we would talk as much as we want to.She told me a lot from her past relationships; how guys had promised her heaven and earth only to get between her legs. I could deduce from all she told me that she was a girl who loves the physical appearance. Of course, who wants to be with someone with a gorilla face? She was what I termed 'Queen of beauty Queens'. The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes. She walked in beauty, like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies. Her magnificent physique was a perfect representation of a goddess. Who dares look at her and not have a second look?
The morning came slowly but the long night was a splendid one. It was nice to hear the birds chorus in harmony and the disturbing voices of other villa mates again. I reflected back into yesterday with a curse that almost vomited from my mouth."Why on earth will a Hausa woman call my line asking for a Muhammad? Why on earth will a strange number not call and the caller should be one of the richest person in Africa? Must it be always a Hausa? Abi e no wan better..."The more I tried to reflect more backward the more Shade's snore hinders my thinking."But wait, how can a lady sleeps so comfortably and snore like a buzz saw. Haven't Joshua seen this side of this girl yet? Some guys can be tasteless Sha, in as much you are under skirt, they must woo you abi, that's what they came to this life to do?" - I muttered."So you love Joshua and can do anything and everything for him. But can h
The atmosphere was glaring and azured. It shined beautifully on each and everyone as students began to troop in and out of the school environment. Shade and I had just resumed like every other students. Such beautiful smile that rested on our faces formed a furrowed brown and we waved to each person as we walked pass them. I couldn't help but imagined what the semester would be like, would it be as unfitting or unacademic like the last semester?Dele and I haven't spoken since the last time I ended things with him. I didn't miss him though, maybe just his touch. He was a guy that really knew how to satisfy his lady. But that wasn't enough, I wanted more. All through the holiday, he would call on few times but I would intentionally not pick his call until he stopped calling for good and that was fine with me.Shade and Joshua are still the love birds soaring high in the high heavens. Shade seemed not to ever grow tired of him and he will no
The breeze injected with multiple endurance as I crawled out of bed to brush my teeth. Though dawn came slowly, it was followed by the brilliant blue sky of morning. I disconnected the charger from my phone since it was already fully charged. It was Saturday and all I could think about was how and only how I would get my dirty clothes washed. If I were to be home, using a washing machine would have been easy and my problem would have been solved in just no time. But here in school, my hands will have to do the job. I carried out my laundry, it was a heavy load but still I have no choice than to do it by hand.I started hand-washing my clothes, squeezing each one hard and harder in the bucket. This is evey students frustration, shouldering the worries of washing by hand. Particularly in my hostel, everyone were at one angle or the other with their hands as their savior. Shade was no difference too, she was there in a corner battling the mou
