Chapter four

Meanwhile, mom and Julia, we're both fussed about me, and the instant I strode in, mom let a huge sigh out.

"Where did you go, without telling anyone, huh! Mom mumbled querying about my whereabouts.

I clutched my hands, on my abdomen aiming to snag my breath, gazing at her with so much going through my mind, hence I asked her.

Who's my father" and please mom do not lie to me" I altered moving towards the direction she strutted and Julia at the side, staring at what was good on. 

Erm, erm, erm mom stuttered struggling to comprehend what to say, I held both my hands begging her to tell me the truth. 

Mom inhaled deeply, glancing at me with so much distress in her eyes when she confessed.

" I had an affair with the late king of valtoria, which of cause he was the crown prince by that time," mom said to me.

"And the outcome of the affair was you, she mumbled, holding back her tears. 

"Your grandfather was a close friend to the king and also the personal advisor" when he heard I was expectant for the crown prince", he angrily sent me far away hidden in-between the walls of the city". And for away from the prince as he was already betrothed to another.

"You mean queen Elisa," I said to her while she jerked her head conceding with me". 

" The prince had no idea, we had a child together, and with the continual dispute and bloodbaths over the crown and the throne, I am glad we left," she let out. 

"But on seeing your constant dreams and warning," I reckon the crown must have been triggered realizing that the last bloodline is still alive".

Mom held her hands on her ears asking forgiveness for concealing the validity from me. I assured her all was in the past as I was glad she could tell me and now I knew how to fix up the mystery of my life. 

After that she left for her room, leaving Julia and me alone. 

The day, ran so fast, with Julia deciding to stay another night.

The next day, I was fast asleep forgetting that it was my birthday when I heard Julia yelling with a loud voice, wishing me a happy birthday, as she yanked me off the bed, to were mom clenched a chocolate cake with a slice of baked potato porridge for a light yet heavy morning breakfast, that was fuming hot. She placed the cake in front of me and asked I make a wish, I smiled and slowly closed my eyes, when I felt a strange quiver race through me as if unfamiliar energy passed and settled down over me. 

"Are you okay", jula implored with and mom gazing at me disturbed, I jerked my head, quickly shaking off the weird feelings. And then shredded the cake with the knife. I fed both mom and Julia a slice of the cake. Although it wasn't a huge celebration, celebrating it with the two important people in my life was more than enough for me, treasuring every second spent with them. 

How old is again" Julia altered playfully teasing me.

She's 24" mom answered her, with her smile on her face.

Damn you old" Julia chuckled running out with me hot on her trail. 

Playfully, we both ran all over the house, to a point we both got tired out and lay back on the pathway trying to catch our breath. 

Once more she wishes me a happy birthday and gifted me a  bracelet caved with my name. I thanked her, as we but layed back down. Staring at the sky. 

That precise day, Julia was set to go home. We all thank for everything as I saw her off. 

The next morning, I got up rather early, getting ready to take some of our farm produce to the market to sell, noticing mom was still sleeping, I decided to give her a day rest. 

I cultivated all our produce, put them, into the carriage, and went off to the market. Hours went by and not even a single customer came, as all passed without even taking a glance at it. 

Augh!!! I became fed up seeing I haven't sold a single fruit. When an elderly man walked up to me, grabbing an apple, from the basket.

"That will be $2 " I mumbled to the man, as he reached on his pouch and handed me the money, with a smile on his face. That was when I noticed, the blue germ he had on, glaring hard at it. 

This is a moon gem" the old man said to me". 

"It conveys your hidden fears, by channeling your powers to the germ", he also explained, giving it to me.

I held it tightly, with my eyes closed, trying to do exactly what the old man said. 

Free your mind", empty your thoughts". He said, softly whispering to me.

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes", doing exactly what he said.

I shut my eyes allowing the world fade, away, and abruptly, I saw myself back at home, with a man, holding a knife at mom, attempting all I could to stop him but all effort lost, Seeing her die in front of me. 

Hrrnnggh!!, I altered fearfully letting go of the gem.

" learn to control your fears, as it may be your weakness," the man said to me, paying for the apple he collected and left.

It was late as I packed up the remaining fruit and headed home. 

On reaching there, mom had already prepared dinner, as she served me, 

Thus after dinner, I went to the room, without changing my clothes, dozing off in the bed. 

Ahhh" I heard the outcry of mom, Hurriedly I rushed off to her room and saw the same man, holding a knife to her neck, jerking his head at me. 

S,s,s, stop please", I begged the man as he held mom with a knife around her neck. 

But again, he didn't heed to my pleadings and I saw her die in front of me again. 

Noo" I cried out closing my eyes tight when I heard a voice behind me.

" your fear is the quickest way to kill you, Princess".

"Hrrnnggh, I woke up gasping for air, as I ran to mom's room and saw her fast asleep, gradually shutting the door. 

The subsequent morning, I got up stroking hefty, constantly caressing my head, and mom ready for the market. On noticing me, she went making herbal tea  before departing, leaving me all alone at home 

Urgh!!! I shrug with my head sloping on the table, alongside the tea beside me. 

Hours after seizing the tea, I felt relieved, as I got dressed  and left to meet mom at the market square. Moreover, when she saw me, she asked if I was feeling better.

Hmmm" I altered jerking my head at her with a warm smile on my face, when a customer came, as I went to attend to the person. 

It's you" I said, seeing the same man that came the other day, and he smiles at me. 

Erm, that will be $50, I said, as he plops his hand in his pocket fetching the money, with the moon gem, placing it in my hand.  

I can't accept this" I said to him but he suggested it was a gift from him to me. 

Glancing at the gem, he left with no trace of him anywhere as I looked, concealing it inside my Pouch.

Thus after a long day, we got home tired and already took dinner, retiring to our rooms. 

While changing, I brought out the gem, and placed it on a table, as I changed to my night wear, suddenly remembering the words of the old man before. 

control my fears" I whispered to myself sitting next to the gem, wondering why he would gift me such. 

I dozed, with all fading around me, abruptly seeing myself at the king's throne room again.

"I am getting tired of this" I yelled lingering for a reaction, as I walked close to the crown, with the same man turning up to stop me.

Augh!!!, I altered, glancing at him with a fierce look. 

"You must be Aldridge" the second wizard that forged the crown.

"And assassinated all the kings of the jeralds bloodline, due to lust of power", I said, as he looked at me with a devious smile. Complementing me for a job well done, thus invoking a demon, grawling  at me.

"Am feeling generous" he said, ambling around clenching his staff by his side.

"I know my brother must have told you an evil version of me", which of cause is true, he chuckled, thus suddenly stopped glaring at me. 

"But I have a proposal for you, he added, waiting for my response.

" tell me what you want " I answered back at him.
