14.A Defensive Omega

2020-10-22 02:06:53Little Destiny could now crawl everywhere and she was fast. When she wanted to go somewhere, she went and there was no stopping her. Crystal decided to have Monica take care of Destiny while she and Killian had work to do and she was honored by this. She was good with Destiny and loved the little child. They were currently sitting outside in the garden and Destiny was crawling in the grass and touching everything she could get her hands on. Monica took Destiny outside every afternoon so she could enjoy the sun. Crystal usually got home before they went inside and loved sitting with them for a bit. Today, she knew Crystal wouldn't be back at her normal time. Rouges had been spotted at the border and Crystal asked Monica to keep Destiny safe.
For the next three weeks, Monica was with Destiny full time as Crystal and Killian were working on border control. She was sitting in the house with her in the main hall of the packhouse when someone burst through the door. Monica stood up in front of Destiny when she noticed it was Danielle, the traitor wolf that tried to get Crystal killed. Danielle stared at Monica and knew she was an omega. What she didn't know was that this omega had some liberties with other pack members and was not to be an omega against non-pack members. Danielle stared down Monica but she kept her nose up.
"An omega acting like she's not. Know your place and back off."
"Never. I've been given my orders to protect this baby. The Luna herself trusts me."
"Your soon to be dead Luna."
Monica straightened her shoulders and stood tall. Danielle charged her and Monica fought back. She moved them away from Destiny. Crystal rushed in and saw the fight and witnessed Monica snap Danielle's neck. She fell limp and crumpled on the floor. Crystal looked at Monica and Monica began to shake. Crystal ran to her and held her for a second to comfort her before picking up Destiny. Killian ran in and Crystal handed Destiny to him and went back to Monica.
"Monica, look at me. Are you okay?"
"I killed her."
"Yes. You saved Destiny's life. Monica, do you know who that was?"
"Danielle. She tried to kill you before."
"Yes, and she would have taken Destiny to Andrew."
"I saved her."
"Yes. Monica, it's okay. You did well."
Monica sat down with Dr. Browning and reviewed her mental state. An omega has never done something like this before. Crystal knew she had to do something. She needed to talk to Killian about everything.
Two weeks had gone by since that day and Monica was still trying to process it. She was a member of this pack and Crystal wanted to do something for her. She found Killian in his office with other members of the pack and they dipped their heads in respect for her as she walked in.
"Excuse me, guys. I need a moment with the alpha."
"Of course, Luna."
Once they were all gone, Killian asked the question on his mind.
"Are you alright, my love?"
"It's about Monica. I'm worried about her. I want to do something for her?"
"Like what? I agree that something should be done."
"You are the alpha and I am the luna which means we have the power to make an omega, not an omega."
"You want to give her a title?"
"I think her main problem is that she is an omega and what she did, an omega would be killed for."
"That makes sense. So what do you want to do?"
"I want to make her a guardian. Specifically, Destiny's guardian."
"I like that. She won't be a high ranking member but she will no longer be an omega."
"I want to have a ceremony for her. I want the pack to know what she did for us."
Killian agreed and Crystal started planning for Monica's guardian ceremony. She told Brandy and Mrs. Randall of the plans. They both agreed Monica needed recognition for what she had done. Crystal just hoped it would help Monica get through this. The pack gathered in the town square and Crystal went to get Monica. Killian waited in the center for them to arrive.
Monica sat in her room, not sure what to do. She thought about leaving or even ending her life. HSe couldn't take it anymore. Mainly, because she was an omega and omegas never do what she did. How could she live with herself? She had to tell Crystal she was leaving. She went to get up and go find her when there was a knock on her door. She opened it and was shocked to find Crystal on the other side.
"Luna?"
"Monica. How are you?"
"I was just coming to talk to you. I can't stay here after what I've done. I can't stand it."
"That's why I'm here, actually. I have been thinking of what you did and I found a solution for you and Killian and I have discussed it with the pack. They all agree with me on this."
"On what?"
"Come with me."
Monica followed Crystal through the packhouse and into town. Monica saw that the whole pack was there and Killian was waiting in the middle. She grew nervous and wondered what it was Luna Crystal had decided. They walked up to the center and Crystal smiled.
"Good evening Blood Moon. As you know, this incredible woman next to me has done something no one of her ranks has ever done. An omega has never killed anyone before, at least not without receiving the death penalty themselves. As you all know, she saved our daughter's life from those who still threaten us. Alpha Killian and I have decided to do something for Monica and I know all of you will agree."
The pack cheered and encouraged Monica. She couldn't believe they all supported her so much. Killian came up with a chalice and handed it to Crystal. She smiled at her mate and Monica watched on as they both drained some of their own blood into it. She was shocked and began to grow nervous. Before she could say anything, Crystal turned back to her with a smile.
"Monica, from this day forward, you will no longer be an omega of Blood Moon Pack. Instead, you will be a guardian of Blood Moon and more specifically, Destiny's guardian. Do you accept?"
Monica was speechless. They were making her a guardian. That's never happened before. She stood shocked and looked out to the pack and saw their faces and saw they all agreed. How could she refuse? As a guardian, she didn't need to feel guilty about what she had done. She smiled at Crystal and accepted their offer.
"I accept."
"From this day forth, you will be known as Guardian Monica. Protector of Destiny Barker."
Crystal handed her the chalice and she drank. Instantly, she could hear the pack. Their voices ringing a welcome and congratulations in her head. She was the first omega to get promoted for killing someone and now she felt pride, especially towards her Luna and Alpha. She was Destiny's guardian and she would continue to protect her as she had done.

Six months went by faster than Destiny ever remembered as she and Tim talked non-stop since they found out. They sneaked into the tunnels to see each other but even as impulsive as they both were, they were always mindful of Killian's rule. Since the treaty of the packs was signed, it was agreed that once a year, the packs would come together for one grand ball to honor the treaty. There was an old castle up in the mountains that was dedicated for the event. The old couple who lived there were more than willing and happy to host such an event.
