Chapter 10 : Maru Island

Erica's Point of View:

Aboard a large boat, we set to sail to go to Maru Island which is located in the middle of the sea here in Gralynes.

The weather is hot, the smell of the sea enters our nose and all we can see is the vast ocean. I do not know where we are going or how long we will sail.

I fell also dizzy to ride in a big boat because it was moving while we were traveling. I was just sitting here on the side of the boat while the three of us with Victor were busy paddling.

"Are we still going far?" I asked him.

"I honestly don't know, Erica. We only follow the map given by the Alchanes," Victor replied to me.

"We have been in the ocean for a few hours and we have not seen an island yet!" I said angrily to him.

"Just wait, maybe we will be close," Victor just told me.

I just shook and gasped. What else can I do? I want to go back to my world, I want to see my mom!

We were traveling for a few more hours when suddenly there was a fog.

Victor got up because of the fog and approached the three of us.

I also got up because the dew was getting thicker. I approached them and I heard them talking.

"We don't know, Price Victor but according to what we read about Maru Island, this is exactly the opening before we get to Maru Island," Hugo told Victor.

"Then hurry up so we can get there!" Victor ordered the canal.

 we will follow you, Prince Victor!" The three of them answered and they hastened to paddle the boat.

Victor looked at me and smiled. There will probably be no problem when we go to Maru Island.

Moments later, while we were on the flight I heard strange music. I can hear the voices of great opera singers. I approached Victor because of what I was hearing.

"What are those sounds?" I asked him curiously.

He looked at our companions and after a while, he looked back at me.

"Those are just sounds made by waves and wind," Victor answered me.

I glared at him because he said, "Don't make me a fool, Victor! I know what I hear is not made by waves and wind! M Like singers here in this place!" I told him.

He swallowed his saliva because of what I said. He looked at our companions again. I saw them stooping.

"The truth then is that what you hear are mermaids singing, Erica," Victor confessed to me which surprised me.

Mermaids singing?

"As far as I know, when the mermaids sing they entice the sailors, and when that happens the sailors will not be able to return because they will be subjected to the magic of the mermaids!" I told her.

"You're right about that, Erica but don't worry, I'm with you and I make sure you don't get hurt!" He told me.

We continued sailing. I rolled my eyes and saw only heart fog. Moments later I suddenly saw men smiling at me.

Their bodies are beautiful and they can be compared to the actors in the movies. They wave at me. I do not know but my body suddenly moved to approach them but I suddenly felt a pull so I regained consciousness.

"Whatever you see, do not approach them because that is one of the mermaids and mermen's ability to attract anyone they see," Victor told me as I swallowed.

I get back to the place of the men and I still see them. Smiling and waving.

The beautiful music we hear is even louder as our voyage deepens. Moments later the boat we were riding in shook.

Victor and our companions immediately looked at it. I followed them and saw strange creatures.

They look scary. You can see their eyes are covered in blue. They have flaps in their ears and their mouths can be seen their sharp and large fangs.

This is not how I know mermaids. All I know is that they are beautiful creatures but as far as I can see, all of that is not true!

I recoil because of what I see. I felt Victor grab my arm and pull me to his side.

"Don't worry, we will not be harmed until we are here in the boat," he told me.

"Just keep paddling!" Victor shouted at our companions.

They continued paddling. Even though the mermaids collided with the boat we were riding in, they could not knock it out.

In a few moments, the boat we were riding in moved even more. There we saw large waves hitting the boat where we were.

I already feel scared because of what is happening. I was so attached to Victor because I knew that at any moment the boat we were riding in would collapse.

We looked at the mermaids surrounding the boat we were riding in. Their two hands are raised and they are shining. I know they control the water in the sea.

After a while, the boat we were riding in turned around. Here we looked at the water and it was as if someone was sucking the boat into the water.

Our comrades did not ride and they paddled quickly. Victor also helped paddle to get to where we are now.

"Just hold on, Erica. Don't let yourself fall into the water!" Victor shouted at me, which I did immediately.

I closed my eyes. I was dizzy because the boat we were riding was going round and round. I can also get a little wet because of the water splashing from the sea but I have to hold on! If not, this is my end!

"Paddle more!" I heard Victor shout.

In a few moments, the boat we were riding in sped up faster.

" Hold on all of you! " I heard Victor shout at us.

I already feel scared because of what is happening. I am also crying because I feel that this is our end. I could not help but think of what was happening. If I had not insisted on returning to my world, we would not have experienced it but what can I do? We are here!

A few moments later I felt someone hug me so I opened my eyes.

I saw Victor smiling at me, "Don't worry, we will survive," he told me.
