Chapter 11 : Maru Island Part 2

Erica's Point of View:

When I opened my eyes, I found myself lying on the sand near the sea. I immediately sat down and saw Victor and our companions lying on the sand unconscious.

I immediately stood up and approached them. I shrugged their shoulders to wake them up. They woke up and immediately stood up.

"Where are we now?" I asked them curiously.

We rolled our eyes at the place and we knew that we were on an island. We also found the boat we used earlier unharmed. I do not know how that happened but I just did not give it attention.

" I think we are here on Maru Island now! " Victor answered my question.

I looked at the sea, "Where are the mermaids before?" I also wondered to question them.

They just shrugged because I knew they also did not know the answer to my question. Hugo brought out the book of magical items that lists everything we can find in finding Magical Items.

We all approached him and waited for him to tell us what he was reading.

"The Alchanes have already said about Maru Island. The only thing written here is where we can see the Bottle of Elixir," Hugo told us.

"In that case, where can we find that Magical Item?" Victor asked Hugo.

"According to what is written on the book of magical items, we will find the Magical Item in a cave hidden here on Maru Island, Prince Victor," Hugo replied to him.

"In that case, we need to find that cave so we can get out of here on this Island!"

And that's what happened.

We took a walk here on the beach to find the Cave referred to in the Book of Magical Items. This island is not big. There are very few trees and most of them are large rocks.

We looked around every corner of the island until we saw a tunnel into which. We stopped at its opening. From here on out, the darkness can be seen inside.

"What are we going to do? It's dark inside and we don't have anything to create light?" I asked them.

"We need to go in to get the Bottle of Elixir that will be needed for the ritual of bringing you back to your world, Erica," Viktor answered me.

I close my eyes and sigh. Hugo, Remus, and Olivia entered the cave first and Viktor and I followed them. As we entered, we were surprised when suddenly lights flashed on the side walls. We all looked at each other.

"Be careful, there may be traps ready in this cave," Viktor reminded us all.

Every step we take into the cave gets light so we don’t have a hard time. There were also no traps to meet us so we just kept going until we were stopped because there was no way through.

We looked for a way to get through but it was not until we found letters that formed on the wall.

"When you kill it, then life goes on to it,"

I read the letters formed. It sounds like it is a riddle that we need to answer and in this first riddle, it is easy to figure it out!

"Candle!" I answered.

When I uttered the answer, the place where we were staying suddenly shook and a tunnel gradually appeared. We all looked at each other because of what had happened.

We entered the tunnel again and walked again. Soon we had nowhere to go and there were letters engraved on the wall.

"Every day is a new life, every year they die,"

I smiled at what I read, is there anything more difficult here?

"Calendar!"

There was a tunnel again and there, we entered and walked again.

"A big plate, prevalent all over town!"

I read to the next riddle.

"Moon!" I answered and there was a tunnel open again.

If they had put riddles, they would have been made it difficult so that no one could enter this cave, but even so, it was ok because we did not have difficulty entering and getting the Bottle of Elixir!

"Two friends with a sharp blade in their stomach, they have been biting for a long time but they do not hurt each other," I read the riddle.

I looked at my companions and saw that they were also looking at me.

"Do you know that answer?" I asked them.

"Don't you know the answer?" Viktor answered a question.

I narrowed my eye on him, "Shall I ask if I know the answer?" I asked again.

We were stunned by the riddle on the wall.

"Two friends with a sharp blade in their stomach, they have been biting for a long time but they do not hurt each other," Viktor read in the riddle.

"Two friends with a blade in their stomach?" I heard Hugo say, so we looked at him.

"What are the blades with two knives?" Olivia asked us.

"Sword?" Remus replied.

"No, The sword has only one blade. The riddle says, two friends, so it means two blades!" I said to Remus.

"Two swords?" Viktor replied.

I gasped and grabbed my forehead.

"They've been biting for a long time but it doesn't hurt each other!" I told them.

We all wondered what the answer to this riddle was. We read the riddle over and over again and no one came to our minds what the answer was.

Mentally, we sat in front of the wall where the words we had to answer were. The four of us looked up at it and thought of an answer.

"Teeth?" Viktor suddenly replied.

We waited for it to open but no tunnel appeared so he answered incorrectly.

"Scissors?" Hugo replied next.

When Hugo answered, we felt asudden shaking in the area, so we immediately stood up. There, the tunnel came out so we immediately entered it.

We walked into the cave again and soon we reached a place here inside the cave.

We were surrounded by our sight. The place is spacious. There is a light on the walls that giving us light so we can see its whole surrounding. In the center, there is an altar with a light of violet. There is a path to it but the altar is surrounded by water.

"I'll just take the Bottle of Elixir. Just stay here," Viktor told us.

We just nodded.

Viktor walked towards the altar where the Botlle of Elixir was. He walks slowly and every step he takes makes sure nothing bad happens to him.

Moments later, as Viktor walked toward the altar, I noticed that the water seemed to be moving. I looked at it carefully and after a while, I saw a strange head appear.

"Viktor!" I immediately shouted because of what I saw. He turned to me and there, he also saw the creature emerge from the water.

Viktor quickly ran to the altar where the Bottle of Elixir was. He picked it up immediately and was about to return when the creatures came out of the water.

I was devastated by what I saw. They are all green as if their bodies were covered with moss. They have fins in their ears and their mouths have sharp teeth. Their eyes were red and their hands have sharp nails.

They only look like mermaids but the only difference was that they have a foot like frogs!

"Those are what they call 'Shokoy' !" I heard Hugo say.

"Shokoys are the opposite of mermaids. They are what they call mermen!" Olivia told me.

In that case, the mermaids are half-human and the other half is fish, while the mermen are like humans but look like fish!

"Get ready for battle!" Hugo ordered them and they prepared for the battle.

"Step back first, Erica so you don't get hurt," he ordered me.

I moved backward to stay away as Hugo said. And there I saw them gradually change form into from human to werewolves!
