CHAPTER NINE

KAILER

I  let out a loud yawn from my sleep and reached for my phone which was vibrating, simply indicating that there was an incoming call. 

📞 "hey babe." I said after realizing that it was Jeff.

📞 "how are you?" He asked. 

📞 I'm great,but I'm a little bit mad at you because you just disappeared at the party like a ghost, and I had to hail a cab to come back home."  I whined pouting like a baby; as if he could see me.

📞 "I'm sorry about that honey okay? I will explain later why I did that.; It wasn't intentional." He replied. 

📞 "so when am I gonna see you again?" 

📞 "maybe later today,where is Naisy?" He asked. 

When did he begin caring about her? Is it because she is dating Romeo; his best friend?  Well,maybe that's the case.

📞 "getting prepared since she will be going out with Romeo at waterfront mall later."

📞 "okay,I love you." He said and I smiled.

 📞 "I hope you will come with the money I asked for right?"

There was no response from him.

📞 "Jeff are you still there?" I checked the phone and saw that his line went off two minutes ago.I huffed loudly and contained myself as I saw Layla and Naisy approaching. 

"So girls I'm going out like I said yesterday." She reminded us.

 "No problem Naisy,enjoy and don't forget to say hi to Romeo." I blurt out. 

"I will pass the message to him,don't worry." Naisy gave both of us warm hugs and walked out. 

"Layla."I called. 

"Huh?are you okay Kailer?" She enquired eagerly. 

"No." I said as she sat besides me. 

"Come on,just feel free to talk to me. I'm here for you as a friend." She said holding my left hand.

 "Its about Jeff,he has changed a lot and I'm a bit afraid that I will loose him,please what can I do?" I whined like a baby.

 "Look just give him time,maybe he will cone around......but wait.......do you really love him a lot? Kailer, just be honest with yourself,do you really love him?" She asked and I felt a sharp object  piercing through my heart. Is it too obvious that I don't really love him but rather after his material things?

 "Kailer answer me." She snapped at me out of my thoughts,then  back to reality.

 "I....I love......him.....yes." I stuttered staring at her with my brown eyes. 

"Oh." She hummed. 

"If you need company I will be in my room,you are free to join when you are done with the house chores." I primped and didn't even wait for her reply, I sprang up and quickly dashed upstairs to my room.I could feel her eyes looking weirdly behind me while climbing up the stairs but who cares. 

NAISY

 We were on our way to waterfront mall .

 "Babe are you okay?"he asked.

 " yes I'm still good Mr ."   I replied elatedly.

"Okay,I was thinking of making you my wife, what can you say about that?" I secretly stole a glance at her,and I could see her blushing face; it was red like a tomatoes.

 "Really?" 

"Not really,who would marry such a monkey like you?" I teased and suddenly her face dropped in embarrassment.

 "Chill I was just plulling pranks on you." I laughed as she heaved a sign of relief. 

"Don't you dare play such pranks  again or else..." I threatened him.He just laughed and I nudged h is arm which made him laugh even more. 

"Babe stop or else you will make me kill both of us by loosing focus." The car halt at the packing lot. we both alighted from  the car. 

"No....wait." Romeo said as he kneeled in front of me holding my left hand. This caught many people's attention.

 "Naisy,kindly be the last face I see when going to bed, and also be the first face I see before everything at first light,may you please be my beloved wife. Will you marry me Naisy?" As he completed his words he took out a shiny diamond ring. I was baffled which made me  to become numb. 

"I love you Naisy and please I need to spent the rest of my life with you,please marry me."He pleaded. 

"Woow! Yes I will marry you Romeo,I will be your wife and I love you so much." I blurt out happily as he  slid the ring on my third finger. I took out a beautiful necklace which my mother- the one who found me and Layla at the dumping site gave to me and wore it around Romeo's neck.

It was blue in colour and also the ring he gave me was also blue. What is so unique about this BLUE colour? This necklace is so unique to me. My mother told me that its not just a necklace,and that I should give it to the one I love for protection and so that our connection will stay strong no matter what, but she didn't tell me all the information about the necklace.

It was different from the one she gave to Layla because she said that I'm not just a nonentity of which left me in a cofused state,and that i will find out while growing up about what she really meant. On the other hand, Romeo proposed with a ring his mom gave to him,and I felt that it was also unique since after he slid it on my finger I felt different energy piecing through my whole body. As he was about to give me a hug,I heard the sound of a gun,and when I looked at Romeo he was already down,blood oozing from his neck like water  stream flowing after torrential rains.

 "Oh my! This can't happen." Tears welled up in my eyes,my hands began shaking,my legs ranging and my lips also shaking,but before my body slowly dropped to the ground,I spied someone with a black coat with HEATERS written boldly at the back with a red colour,and a gun in their hand turning the corner. "Romeo please don't leave me." I kissed his lips for the last time and clutched his body against mine tightly.

"Babe don't leave me please,no.......you cannot die or else I die with you." I wept bitterly. 

Doctors and some of the police came to do their job.Doctors came and took Romeo to the other car while the police blocked me from delaying the doctors in doing their work.

 "Please don't take him away from me,I still love him." I shouted on top of my voice but it was to no avail because it couldn't reach them,and it was a broken voice.I ran after the ambulance that took Romeo but my legs couldn't carry me any longer and I fell to the hard floor while weeping.

 "Naisy,you will be fine,don't be so hard on yourself." The other doctor named Jeet tried to console me.

 "No,he is gone.....they took him away from me."I continued weeping.

 " Naisy stay strong okay? Its not the end of the world,what you should be doing right now is to pray for him to survive from all this that has transpired."

 "No,we are suppose to get married tomorrow,will he survive?will I get another chance to kiss his sweet lips again?will I ever be able to be in his warm arms again?will I again hear his voice telling me how much he loves me?" I bombarded the doctor with questions he had no answers for.

 " The chances of him surviving from this are very low because he lost plenty of blood ." 

"But I can help him with my own blood." 

"Naisy no,even if you do that it won't work,just accept that you lost him and move on." Jeet wiped the tears at the corner of my eyes and I sniffed giving him a very tight hug like I didn't wanna let go of him. He carried me in a bridal style to the car and drove to Kailer's apartment. 

LAYLA

"Come in." I uttered after hearing a knock at the door. We were busy watching the lost son movie with Kailer while eating popcorns. The door cracked open and revealed Naisy stained with blood and another guy who seemed to be a doctor due to his attire . 

"No,sister what happened?" I rushed to Naisy and gave her a tight hug such that both of us  hardly breathed. 

"They killed him,the killed my Romeo." Tears started welling up in my eyes as we all sat down. 

"Romeo was shot after proposing to Naisy and died on the to Scotland hospital." Jeet explained. 

"What?" I and Kailer exclaimed in unison. 

"Please,if you see any unusual behavior concerning her contact me." Jeet uttered and handed his card number to me,and I collected it from his hand. Jeet's face revealed an assuring smile that Naisy will be fine, and he walked out to the main door.

"I think you should go and bath okay?" Kailer advised . 

"No,leave me alone or else I will kill you." She yelled.

 "Sister you really have to bath and change this stained clothes." I voiced out trying to touch her but she yanked from my touch.

 "I said no,I'm just going to give this blood on my clothes back to my lover,and don't you dare touch me or talk to me ever again." She yelled on top of my voice as I and Kailer  flinched, feeling like the house was gonna tremble anytime soon. 

We watched her as she dashed to the kitchen; took a knife and headed to the sitting room. On reaching there she gave us  a cold glare then headed outside.I and Kailer kept exchanging looks as if we have seen a zombie; none of us bothered to say a word.
