Chapter 3:   Ben's on vacation... 

Jennifer's POV:

Woohoo!!! 

Finally, it's happening.

Yes!!!! 

I still can't believe it, but yeah!! 

After so many years, finally Ben is going on a vacation. In fact, he never had a proper vacation for a long time. 

But somehow I do feel bad for him because I think, I might be the reason for it. In the past, he used to be so busy parenting me and also doing his job that, sometimes he even forgot to live for himself. 

But today, I am very happy for him. 

Though I still can't believe that me and aunt Marina, we both had convinced Ben for this vacation

Oh!! About aunt Marina. 

Actually, she lives in our neighborhood with her son Lucas, who is a social activist and a friend of mine. Aunt Marina is like a mother figure to me. She always reminded me of my own mother who also had very smooth and satiny hair. She is very polite by nature and even funny sometimes.

She is the one who had given this fantastic idea of a vacation to Ben. And as she's also one of the organizers who had organized this vacation. 

I even think that my boy(Ben) likes her. She can persuade him very well. Although this does not happen in my case, I always have to fight with him for his approval. 

I'm not jealous but.... but ..... you know what I mean, right!!!

Right now I am in the living room, watching commercial news. 

At that time Ben shouted my name from his bedroom, " JENN...JENN!!! "

Argh, I growl in annoyance. 

So I replied shouting to him, " WHAT?? " 

I enter in his bedroom while munching my Doritos. Oh man, I love Doritos. I can eat them anywhere and anytime. 

" Jenn you had assured me to help in packing my things up. I can't do this all alone. "

He reminded me while taking a deep breath. Giving me a noxious look. 

Standing beside his wardrobe.

I scrunched my eyebrows as I question him, " Did I ??? Cause I don't remember such a thing.

Especially helping you to pack your stuff. "

He narrowed his eyes and said in a sharp tone, " Yes, of course, you did, Miss Jennifer Alexandra Jones. Did you forget your own terms when you were persuading me to go on this vacation, huh??? "

" Okay then if you don't remember such stuff it's better for me to cancel my whole plan. What say??? " He gritted his teeth while blackmailing me. Emphasizing the word ' stuff. '

" Haha!!! I was just teasing you, dear. " I try to laugh out replying to him. Just to ease the atmosphere. 

" Ohh, come on can't I even joke now??? " I said while putting my packet of Doritos on the cabinet. 

To clean my hands from spices I take a wet tissue from the tissue box which was on that cabinet. 

" Ok, now let me see what you can wear. " I said while throwing the used tissue into the dust bin.

He gives me a thumbs-up gesture before walking towards his armchair near his bedside.

Half an hour later. I selected most of the clothes and I did pack a few of them. 

As I was going through the racks of clothes I told Ben, " Babe, don't you think we should go for some shopping..?? "

He straightly replied in a big NO. I waved my hand in the air as I was expecting that one. 

" But you don't have much casual wear... most of them were old, then what are you going to wear there at that time?? Your boxer and shorts. " I teased him. 

Putting his clothes in the travel bag I again said with a smirk on my face" See.....It will be all fine with me... if you want to show your sexy looks to aunt Marina in those shorts. And trust me you don't have to work hard on it because she is already into you. "

" Haha, no....no baby girl. We are just good neighbors. You are misunderstanding it.......BUT I'll not mind if you go after her one and only one son, Lucas. What say??? "

He laughs at me while provoking me. 

Oooh!!! So the table has turned. Is that so. At first, I was the one teasing him but now he retaliating on me. Well played boy... well played...!!

So while folding his t-shirt I replied him back with a smug face, " No, instead of making him my boyfriend I would love to make him my brother. " Well, I am his daughter so I also replied to him likewise.

Soon he walked towards me and stated in a serious tone, " Baby, he is a good guy. I really liked him. Especially his dedication towards his work. "

I turn to see him and found his serious look at me. Now I can see where this conversation would go. 

I gulped before replying to him, " Even I like his work. What he is doing for society is really appreciative. But that doesn't mean that I should make him my boyfriend. We are just friends to each other or good friends....nothing else. And even if there is someone, you already know you will be the first one to know about it. "

I hold his hands in mine and continue, " ...AND...I don't want to leave you alone.......just to enjoy with other women when I am not around you. " I try to act jealous and funny to burst to the balloon of seriousness. 

But judging from his reply, I feel that there is no way to escape from this conversation. 

He replies with the same serious look, " You both are like childhood buddies. And I know he likes you a lot. If you really like his work who knows maybe..... soon you also started liking him. "

I literally don't like this kind of conversation. I am not a relationship kind of person. 

Taking a deep breath I said, " I don't know. You know my past two experiences. Being in a relationship is not for me. You know that. "

Before he argues anything else I immediately stated, " Okay, stop this bullshit. I am already starving. Did you plan to kill me out of starving, huh??? " 

I'm actually not starving but just to cut this conversation I acted like this. 

He shakes his head in disapproval and said, " But we will discuss it after I arrive from this vacation and after that, I will not listen to any of your reasons, so that will be our DEAL!!!! "

He continues his part of scolding me while walking to the kitchen, " And language woman. "

I also move my ass towards my room murmuring, " Whatever. "

Yes, whatever to his so-called DEAL and my bad language.

I - JUST - DON'T - CARE.

Just as I was about to put my foot on the very first step, the doorbell rings. But before I put my other foot. Ben speaks in a loud voice from the kitchen, " Girl, I think that's your call. "

Without any further protest, I quickly went to open the door. As soon as I open it I saw aunt Marina with a broad smile on her face with a box in her hands. 

I was astonished seeing her so I remarked in an amaze, " Wow, what a pleasant surprise!!! " 

She smiles at me and says, " Hello, Dear. Did I bother you??? "

I roll my eyes at her, making a dramatic gesture, " Oh come on. How can a beautiful lady like you ever disturb me? " 

" And why are you standing here please come in. " I said leading her in the house. 

While following me inside she said, " Actually I made Lucas and your favorite dessert. But unfortunately, he couldn't make it for dinner. "

" So I just came to give you, your share". She continues while handing me the box of my favorite custard pudding. 

I can clearly see dejection in her eyes. But still, she is smiling. 

After hearing her, I genuinely gave her a thank-you hug and said, " Lucas is such a tardy like always.....hey why don't you join as for dinner ??? " I offered her so that she won't feel lonely because of that nasty Lucas.

How can he do this to her? Actually, Lucas's father was an army martyr. So they were like me and Ben. Two for each other. 

So without listening to her answer. I headed to the kitchen where Ben was cooking. 

He was busy chopping the veggies. Looking at him I clear my throat first and then said in a melodious voice, " Ahem...Ahem...Ben, please make some extra dishes as we have a special guest over. " I said while emphasizing more on ' special guest. '

Aunt Marina comes to me and says, " Jenny, there is no need. I just came to give you the dessert. There is no need to bother. " 

Yes, she is the one who calls me Jenny. 

Convincing her to join us for the dinner I pleaded, " Please, I'm not gonna buy any of your lame excuses this time. So please don't even try to fool me. "

While chopping Ben commented, " 

No one needs to make you that when you already are!!! "

What ?? Did he just call me a fool....how dare he?? 

Okay.

Okay, I'll remember this one.

" So you trying to be smart in front of her. Great. Why not?? " I said in a very low voice. 

To which he gives me a - what are you saying? look. 

To which I just rolled my eyes at him and told aunt Marina merrily, " Hey, why don't you guys have some gossips until I quickly finish some work. "

So I excused myself cause I want to give them some space and second I don't fit in that atmosphere.

Cooking and I are like long-distance relatives who don't like to see each other.

Ben is my personal chef. Haha!! But he cooks awesome.

Yeah!!! I don't like cooking.

But that doesn't mean that I can't cook. The food which I cook can only be eaten by me. Because others wouldn't be able to do so. I am worst at it but bet me.......that subject is out of my syllabus.

Half an hour later Ben called to have dinner. When I enter the dining room I saw both of them laughing. As I was busy admiring the scene, Ben's voice interrupted me saying, " Hey, you finally are here. Go wash your hands and join us. "

And finally, we had our dinner. The table was full of dishes. We chatted and laughed a lot. Ben even warn me to stop, cause I might get choke. But I didn't listen.

Lastly, I thanks aunt Marina for the dessert. It was delicious as always.

I pitied Lucas and envied him at the same time. Pity because he wouldn't be able to eat this yummy pudding and envy because he got this wonderful woman as his mother. 

Yes, I do have Ben, but still.......no one can fill the gap of a mother. 

I can't and I don't blame him for that because he means everything to me.

Though most of the time we fight but all those things are for fun. 

We both know how much we mean to each other and how much we love each other. 

In my life, I kept nothing hidden from him. 

Likewise, he even knows how many boyfriends I had. And also know about my sexual relations. Yes, I do have friends with benefits. And Ben even knows this. 

' I won't hide anything from you. '

This was the vow he had taken from me. 

Of course.....there is no doubt that he had pressurized me to do that. 

Yes sometimes Ben does get

tensed about my future. Not financially but about my private life. Cause I can never cope up with males. Not just in a relationship but also at my workplace, sometimes I can't handle my male colleagues. 

I don't know what's the matter is.

Those creatures are out of my legacy. 

Or might be because I hate patriarchy! 

Or they might don't like to take orders from a woman.
