Chapter 4:   The Day Of Departure.

Sometimes I do think that time flys like flies... ... .. . to quickly. 

Jennifer's POV:

Today is the day when Ben is leaving for his vacation. So I have taken an off day to which Ben was surprised. 

I usually don't take leave unless I or Ben is ill. So yes he has reason to be surprised.

I don't know how long I have been staring at him. He is literally tinkering with his luggage. Taking things out and then again putting them in the bag.

Commanding me to do this and that, again and again. He himself doesn't know what he was doing under pressure and tension.

So lastly I stand up from the couch and start walking towards him. I stopped him from whatever he was doing. 

I held his shoulders with my hands and looked straight into his eyes. 

Trying to calm him down I said, " Relax, your luggage is already packed. You are not forgetting anything. And even if you are forgetting, then there is no need to worry about it, just buy it.

I already have given you my international ATM card so please use that. Okay??? "

I paused for a while and waited for his reply but he breaks our eye contact so I continue, " Yes, and about me. You don't have to worry about me. You know I can manage things. I'll take care of myself for your sake. And you young man, you will enjoy it there for my sake, will you??? " 

I am trying to elaborate on every single and simple thing so that he can relax. 

He looks at me making a sour face at me. Ready to cancel the plan. But before that, I added, " I'll call you at every single day!!! "

Ehh??? 

I shake him a little from his own thoughts and again try to bargain, " Okay then, three times in a day. 

Deal??? ...............Ben, you are going for a vacation if I'll call you every single hour tell me what is the meaning of it. You are going to enjoy in Hawaii.............buy this last one before I change my mind. This one is the least I could do. " 

Now I was losing it. 

He is not even responding to me. 

I smirk at him and walk away passing him. Soon with a little hesitation he turns and says, " Okay. But you have to come early from work. No overtime No late night parties during this period. And no more clubbing. Understand?? "

What??? Man, are you for real??

You are going to have fun on the beaches. Then what about me, huh????

So at night, I simply have to be a log on the couch and watch those freaking football matches, while missing you!!!!!

Okay if that makes you feel good then why not??

And how will you even know what I'll be doing behind your back... Haha!!! ' - I did a little talk with my mind before responding to his conditions. 

I smile before embracing him. 

He again asks me to verify, " Jenn, are we clear?? "

I just nodded in approval. After a few more minutes, breaking free from his embrace. I said in a low and weak voice, " Ookayyy.....Now, let's move before you miss your flight. I'll.....I'll wait for you in the car. "

He simply nodded his head and went straight to grab his trolley travel bag and duffle bag.

For over twenty minutes I have been waiting for Ben in the car. Don't he know we were getting late? 

How long does it take to grab those f**king bags and lock the house???.

.

OHO.....

................So here comes our hero, Mr. Benjamin Franklin Jones. 

I open the trunk of my Audi for him. So that he could load those bags in it. 

The journey to the airport is going to be disconsolate. And I know Ben, he will never start a conversation until and unless there is a need. But I really need to talk with him. I just can't bid goodbye to him like this.

No man!! 

Before driving I try to broke the silence saying something pleasant, " Hey, do we need to pick aunt Marina along with us, hmm??? "

He looks aways outside the window without looking at me and replied, " No. There is no need for that. Lucas is going to drop her. "

Oooh....so Lucas does remember that he also has a mother that he has to take care of. I am a bit surprised.

I didn't reply to him. Instead of this, I asked him some other thing out of curiosity, " So, how many of guys are going along??? "

Now I think he is getting better than before. He chuckles a little while replying, " At first we were only seven to eight people but later we added our other friends so there are approximately twenty or more. "

What??? Twenty or more??? 

I was shocked to hear because I never expected such a number. I commented in a daze, " So you guys are gonna have real fun, right?? "

He nodded in acceptance with a genuine smile on his handsome face.

The airport was thirty minutes' drive. But with my driving skills, we will be there in twenty minutes. 

Ben excitedly pointed towards his group. I parked the car in the parking lot.

After getting out of the car, I immediately spotted aunt, Marina. " Wow..!!! "

Wow! Was I first word came out of my mind. She is looking fabulous in that mint green floral dress. 

I run towards her as Ben was busy taking out his bags. 

As soon as she saw me, she came forward with her open hands ready to hug me. So I also return her warm gesture. 

We both break our hug as we heard someone clearing his throat.

It's Lucas. 

I am seeing him for a long time. 

Lucas, " Ahem... So you both forgot that I still exist. I am surprised. You didn't even notice me. " 

I sharply look at him and pointing my index finger to him I said in a harsh tone, " Actually, I am the one who is more surprised to see you here. It's good to see that, you still remember that we exist, right aunt Marina??" I completed my sentence exaggerating to - you still remember that we exist. 

As sarcasm was clear in my tone. 

He raised his hands in surrender. And said in an apologetic voice, " Okay, It's my fault. So sorry about that. And I know, I am not going to win in any argument with you. It's futile. " 

With that, he comes towards me to hug. As we were meeting after a very long time. 

But still, I stepped backward with a questioning look to aunt Marina asking her, " Does this idiot deserves our apologies?? " To which she just blink her eyes. And I take that as yes. 

The confusion was clear on Lucas's face but finally, I let him hug me. 

While hugging him I cursed him underneath my breath in a low voice, " You're an asshole. " 

He chuckles to my cursed and said, " I heard you. "

Breaking from his arms I firmly replied to him, " Yes, of course, you did. Cause it was meant to. " 

Taking my cursed as a compliment he said mimicking my last name, " It's good to see you too, Miss Alexandra. "

I don't know what fun he gets in teasing me with my last name. 

Jenn, Alexandra, Jennifer, Jenny, Alex, Ms. Jones. Some day, I might forget my own name... I guess. 

Soon Ben also join us. We all talk a little and then it was the time to say our final goodbye. 

We both hugged tightly. Ben said in a low voice, " Remember the condition we had. Lucas will be there for your help just call him whenever you need him. I had already told him.. ... ... ...... I love you please take care of yourself. " 

I lump got stuck in my throat, which was about to come. But soon Lucas's voice interrupts saying, " Uncle Ben, you will be late for the flight. Others have already gone. "

And with that, he moves to the boarding gate with aunt Marina and some others. Both of them wave their hand at me and Lucas, who is standing on my left. 

And finally, he left.

I feel like a heavy stone on my heart. An alone tear slips from my eyes. 

Noticing this, Lucas embrace me from one side and said in a sweet convincing voice, " He'll be alright. You know that. "

I nodded to him in agreement.
