Third wheel

Next morning, After I prepared breakfast I went to the garden without having it because when I asked tina to call him, she said he wasn't in his office. I was enjoying gardening when he came with breakfast. I looked at him and he smiled.  I washed my hands and sat on the bench. We then ate in silence.

"If you don't mind, I was thinking.. if...you know..i .... I want to take you out...." He said nervously, playing with his hand. I looked at him and laughed a little. Was he nervous? 

I just sat there looking at him and he frowned looking at his hands when I didn't say anything.

"For... Dinner," he said nervously.

"I didn't mean to.....laugh," I said feeling bad and He nodded.

Question filled my mind. I mean he never asked me to go out before.

"Before? Girl you have been married for what maybe 10 days?" I told myself. I was in my own thought while he was looking at me, waiting for my answer.

"Ok," I said and he gave me a slight look but smiled instantly. 

"Thanks," he said. 

In the car, when I was in my own thoughts "You look beautiful," he said not looking at me and I didn't bother to reply. I was wearing a black short dress. I didn't have any nice cloth but thankfully and I found it in when I looked inside the closet. For a beautiful girl, it would look great and I don't think I looked good in it. I mean the dress was beautiful. My sister forced me to buy it when she dragged me to go shopping. I don't really like to do shopping. Hell, I don't like to do anything. I was not into anything. I should have said no for the dinner but I don't know why I didn't. I must say he looked more handsome today. I couldn't stop myself from glancing at him.

He took me to the place which he said was his favourite. We ordered the food. He would try to talk and I would completely ignore him and focus my attention on food. Time and again, he would ask me if I need something and I would just give him my silence. He was annoying me and I didn't want to snap at him. It would be bad and I don't want to talk. Why doesn't he understand? It's not like we were on a date. In the background, live music was playing and he would look at the couples dancing time and again.

He was about to speak when a girl walked in and started to scream coming towards him. She was drop-dead gorgeous. Rich people looked like that all the time. I looked so ugly in front of her and my dress looked cheap so maybe that's why she didn't bother to look at me and I didn't care. Her focus was all on him. She hugged him and I just sat there looking at them, feeling like a third wheel. He looked happy and they talked and laughed like I was not even there and then she asked him about me.

"Who is she?" 

He was silent for awhile probably thinking if he should tell her the truth. They seemed really close.

"Ahh, she is ...." He was about to say when she whispered something in his ear.

He shook his head looking at me. "What did she say?" I wanted to ask but stayed silent.

She sat on a chair smiling at me and I smiled back.

"I am Ratna," she said "Amol's best friend," when she said that it felt like someone punched me on my heart. But she didn't come to our wedding.

I wanted to tell her that I was his wife and look at how her facial expression changes but I didn't bother. if he doesn't want to introduce me as his wife then why should I ? And it's just a deal. She seems like she is more than a best friend.

"Gurans," I said focusing on my food.

They started to talk. I had already finished eating and sat there feeling bored. They looked like long lost love birds. She would time and again keep her hand on his shoulder or above his hand. He would slowly create a distance and would look at me with those sorry eyes. I would ignore him by rolling my eyes at them. They seemed perfect for each other and what I was even doing there? I felt left out. I was about to leave when she asked him for dance. He refused but she forced him pulling him up. He looked me with those guilt-filled eyes while I excused myself and was about to leave when he stopped her from pulling him and asked me where I was going. I told him I will be in the car. He said he will come with me but she came in middle saying.

"She will be fine Amol, come on let's dance," she said. 

Not looking at him, I came outside and guess what? I came home. The driver asked about him but I told him he was busy and will come later on his own. That was his punishment for dancing with her. The whole ride, I thought about how good they looked together like a perfect couple. They looked more than just bloody best friend. She looked at him like he was more than just a best friend to her. I came home and kept my phone on silent mode. After I changed, I looked at the phone and found 20 miscalls, lol.

I was watching series but my mind was still wondering about what could they be doing and then he came. He stood on the door crossing his arms looking at me as if I was the one who was dancing with another guy leaving my husband alone. I rolled my eyes but my heart started to beat fast. He silently came and sat beside me. He cleared his throat. I looked at him raising a brow. I was angry. He snatched phone from my hand and looked at it. Shit, I had forgotten to lock my phone.

"Why did you came without me ?" He asked in a low voice, clearly angry.

"I called you like I don't know how many times. Who does that huh?" He said in a serious tone showing me the phone. 

"You were busy," I said not looking at him.

"Busy ?" he asked.

"Yeah, with your may be long lost lo... best friend," I said shrugging.

"What?" he said coming so close that I got nervous. He slowly placed his hand on my chin made me look at him.

"You heard me." I said nervously.

"She is not.." 

"Not interested," I shrug off his hand and looked at the TV.

"Listen, After you left I refused to dance with her and came following you but you were already gone and she is just a friend." He said and I looked at him. Somewhere I felt good hearing it.

He didn't dance with her? 

"And I am sorry if you felt that way," He said. What way? And why was he apologizing?

He kept his one hand on my waist and other on my chin and looked straight in my eyes. I forgot about everything and my mouth went dry.

"Next time you won't leave alone," he said next time? Was he thinking of taking me out again? I was so lost in his eyes that I didn't realized what he just did. 

"This is for coming home without me, Maya," he said getting up and winking at me. I just sat there like a statue not believing what just happened. He went to the bathroom. When I came to my sense I  realized,

That devil kissed me.

He came out of the bathroom in just a towel, my breath hitched and he smirked. I threw pillows at him "You devil," 

"What ?" he said catching pillows.

"How dare you?" I said glaring and he grinned coming towards me.

"I am your husband, Budi and not only kiss but I can do more if you want," he said winking and that was enough for me to go and hit him on his chest. 

"You bloo.....dy devil,"

He caught my hand. 

"Let go of my hand," I said looking anywhere but him. If I looked in his eyes I know I would get lost. I started to get nervous.

"What if I don't?" he whispered sending chills to my body. Why was this devil starting to have so much effect on me? It felt like my knees were about to give up. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I opened my eyes and narrowed at him. He smiled and then I smirked. I stepped on his foot so hard that his smiled faded and His hold got loosen on me. I took a step back looking at his face, laughing.

"Tit for tat," I said feeling proud of myself. 

"You gonna pay for this," He said coming towards me and I ran out of the room for life.
